I think all three of these bands are amazing. The question at hand is: Maynard's voice: Which do you favor the most?
Personally, I favor Maynard's voice around the time of APC's Mer de Noms and Thirteenth Step. He's changed quite a bit over the years. You can hear the difference through the Tool albums. I like the way he sings on the Puscifer tracks. Hell, I like the way he performs, period. Nonetheless, I prefer his voice during the APC days...
I know this is an iffy question because you can get into how his voice is important for the message of the song, the emotion of the song, and you can also get into the different band styles, but whatever...take it wherever you want

I tend to favor his vocals in the APC albums, since he demonstrates a larger range. From his regular vocals to growling and then the more high-pitched singing in "Fiddle and the Drum", which I think a lot of people draw the comment of APC influences being on 10,000 Days because of similar vocals for "The Pot" intro.
Certainly doesn't mean I don't like his singing in Tool, though and I'm indifferent on his vocals in the Puscifer songs. Definitely his style, but I don't think they're really extraordinary in any particular way from his normal singing in Tool or APC.

Well said. I am starting to question whether he can still sing, or whether he even cares to, like he did during the days of Thirteenth Step. On a few of the tracks of eMotive, he does vocals similar to those of Puscifer. Don't get me wrong, I like that vocal style, but I still favor the Mer de Noms, Thirteenth Step style. I'm hoping that vocal style didn't end with the days of A Perfect Circle.

A Perfect Circle, definetly. Maynard shows so much more range, for one. And for two, his voice just seems to fit that particular style of music better, perhaps making it easier for him to reach better sounding vocals. As opposed to in Tool, where the music itself is... too bland, not melodic enough I suppose, to bring out the true quality of his voice. ("The Pot" is an exception that comes to mind, though).
But ... I can't say, with regards to Puscifer. It struck me as so retarded, I barely listened to half a song before forgetting about it completely. Ow

Tool, without question.
Some people have said he shows more range in APC songs. Slap yourself, listen to Wings for Marie and then Ticks and Leeches, and rethink that. xp

I favor good ol' Tool. They are great live (it was amazing to watch the entire band, it was awesome!!). I tend to listen to Tool more often than A perfect circle and Puscifer. I really enjoy Maynard in Tool because, not for the fact this is where he started to become really famous. During my rough year, I found myself listening to Tool and I think it saved my sanity. Tool can be hardcore like to soft. I enjoy that and respect the fact that they will do that. From Undertow to 10,000 Days, the band has changed and I like it. So, in all, Tool is my pick though his other bands are extremely talented also.

I vote Tool because although I love both Puscifer and APC, Tool always hit it home with me, especially the Opiate to Lateralus. He just has such a power to his voice in some songs like Prison Sex, Sober and Stinkfist.

A Perfect Circle I fell at pace when I listen to then and I got in to them before tool. But I like all 3 of them just A Perfect Circle some what more. I am listing to them now 3 Libras.
