The Pagoda Inn is an excellent Chinese restaurant in Southern California. It offers an excellent array of Chinese food from all the different styles and regions of China. The staff are all Chinese, but they speak perfect English so you will always get your order right, and in general are very friendly. The menu is large, which gives you a lot of options, and at only around 11 bucks a dish, its a great deal for dinner. They offer the good standards, Lemon and Orange flavored dishes, cashew nut chicken, Mongolian style beef, but also many different options, such as Peking Style Beef, BBQ Pork Egg Foo Young, and my new favorite, Almond Chicken. Meals are served automatically with tea, and the soy sauce is kept in a little porcelain tea pots on the table. After every meal you get fortune cookies and an orange bowl made out of half an orange and full of ornately sliced orange segments.

The restaurant itself is fairly small, but decorated very nicely with Chinese artwork. In the center of the main dining area, a large array of Chinese lanterns lights up the room. The restaurant is very much Chinese, but with a sense of English colonialism by its furniture and silverware. The only downside to the Pagoda Inn is that it is small, and unless you get there rather early (before 6) there will be a wait. Also, its location is in a parking lot, so it doesnt have a very good view, and parking is usually hard to get due to the market next door.

All in all, if you are looking for a good and semi-fancy Chinese restaurant in the middle of the urban suburbia of the San Fernando Valley, this is it.

A 9/10.
