I really need to find some colleges to go to. I hate high school band. The only time I can show off any skill is with my lesson teacher. I still get nervous around her. In class, whenever my BD works with the flute section, she has us all play together, then always has me either demonstrate how the music is supposed to sound, or have me sit out so she can work with the other people.
I hate teaching them. They're so bad. No offense to them, 3/4 of them are super nice, but the music we're playing is NOT hard at all. It's all medley's and arrangements. Watered down stuff. The music is supposed to be 'balanced' so that there's hard music and easy stuff. Nothing is super hard. I want stuff I have to actually practice.
I had Tri-M inductions the other day, I definitely had the hardest song out of everyone, I guess that's a good thing.
I need to start working on Mozart some more; when I practice I get a lot done. If I practiced every day, and had my good flute with me all the time, I'd be 10x better than I am now.
I'm almost out of the stupid etude's at the beginning of my book. I hate them, and my teacher does too. I don't know what's next, but I have a feeling it's a lot better.
I wish that the regionals music was out. Only like 4 months left to wait...=/ I hope that I make regionals again, and actually can audition for all-state this year. That'd be awesome as a senior.
I'm worried I won't find a good college in time. I'm the best flute player in my school, and a pretty damn good one in the region...but after that, I'm nothing special. =/

Had our second combined rehearsal tonight. There's no hope in getting my solos back. Damn.
Tomorrow I'm going to Berklee Jazz fest. I really wish we'd play another song with a flute in it. We did at Waterford and the guy commented on my ability to play more than one instrument. I want to prove that I don't suck at jazz, like people may assume. I'm just not as confident playing tenor as I am with flute.
Maybe if we play First Circle next year... or some song that has a flute solo. I'd definitely snag that thing.

Ow. Got new music for band. Stupid medleys. I hate them. They're so...middle school. Actually, the middle school probably has harder music.
I can't feel my pinky. I had to play the exposition of a song OVER and OVER at least 50 times in lessons. To make it worse, I had gone over it about 10 times or more before I even had lessons. For the first time in a while, my fingers are dead.
Oh, we never went to Berklee. Stupid teacher cancelled it.

Had our pops concert last night. And it was basically a disaster waiting to happen. During the DRESS rehearsal, we didn't play through any piece. We started them and stopped them after maybe 15 measures. Even for the songs that needed a LOT of work.
And I was really upset; there was 6ish flute solos, and even though I'm the best player, I only got ONE.
I had to beg just to get some trill thing.
If we had our teacher from last year, we would have had chair auditions and such.
God, I really want my teacher fired. She treats us just like a middle school band. And no one can really take it anymore.
I have a feeling graduation will be a disaster

I got the regionals pieces. They're only etudes. I've already learned one of them about 3 months ago. Easy peasy audition.
