Prelude
Amid a flapping of wings and a downward woosh of air, all those present in the village of Ocean Shore witness a sight never before seen in all the long history of the island.

A majestic golden being, with great aqua wings, flutters down from a large bank of clouds that surrounds the Elder Mountain. Floating just inches from the ground, she surveys the inhabitants, a grim expression on her face.

"So these are the caretakers of which the Elders spoke..." she thinks to her self, looking at the humans with disdain. From her vantage, they seem so small and insignificant.

Wondering if these creatures will have the metle it takes to care for her kin, she gestures to the onlookers and waits for them to gather.

Alex, lazily opening his eyes sees the winged woman from before, only this time she went straight to the village below where the children were. In a near fit of panic he jumps straight down the rocky ledge, hoping from rock to rock as he goes. His agility is astounding, but as he nears the bottom he nearly slips, only regaining himself due to his staff. He calmly straightens himself and heads towards Illiana. Unlike the others, he was neither amazed nor afraid of her, the only thing that bothered him was the fact she was down here rather then up top where the elders resided.

"So... you're back..."

Illiana paid Alex no heed. She had given the land dwelling Elders the opportunity to prove themselves, to no end. It was time she take matters into her own hands.

Raising her staff as well as her voice, she issued, "All those with in the sound of my voice, come forth and take account. You have been placed here to look after my kin. I have come to test your worth. Heed my words, for treasure waits for those who would seek it."

Finally, looking to Alex, she commanded, "Name these, who would be guardians. Form them into teams, for they will need eachother if they wish to succeed."

Alex randomly looked around and picked out a few he thought to may have a chance to stand up against the crazy womans schemes *teehee*. He pointed out.. "you, you, you, and you.. oh yes.. and you.. and you...and..you.. and I guess you... come over here"

He bent low in a whisper, "Ok guys, don't let me down.... do what the cr...lady asks, and do it well... who knows what will happen if you don't"

Illiana studied the eight participants that Alex had chosen. She must know their worth, but she hoped they all survived the tasks she put to them. They loved her kith and kin and that had left a soft spot in an otherwise rough exterior.

"You four," she announced, pointing at the first team Alex had gathered, "You must go to the Caves of Keeltakriil on the far eastern side of the island. Once there, you will have to navigate its dark, dank and often dangerous tunnels and bring me back a flask of the holy water that lies in the crystal chamber at the base of the Cave. Remember, work together, help eachother and dont leave anyone behind. You must all return to be considered."

Breathing deeply, she turned to the second group, ready to offer them an equal challenge. "For you, I have a slightly different request. The oceans around the island are full of plants of all kinds. They are also filled with dangerous and carniverous sea life. Five miles off the western coast, there is a shoal where a very special kind of seaweed grows. It is an irridescent greenish blue, with soft, frilly tendrils of pink coming off the main leaf. I require a satchel full of this ocean plant. Bring it to me and I will deem you worthy of your charges."

Smiling, she took in the whole group, "I do not envy you your tasks, but I have faith that you will all return triumphant. You all have skills that will be useful on this journey. Discover these in eachother, nurture them, and return to me stronger than you left. I wish you luck!"

Caroline took Lena in her arms after the elder had finished speaking. She glanced over at the young Zoombini rather curiously.

Lena wrapped her arms around Caroline's neck. "Team two, team two!" She chanted with excitement as a large grin formed on her lips.

"I see you're up to an adventure Lena sweetie, but I may not be" Caroline gulped nervously.

Lady_Ourania
Ourania shifted uncertainly on both of her feet. "I'm as ready as I'll ever be..." she replied to Lena's query. "I'm Ourania Eridanus. You may call me by any moniker you wish so long as it is not... insulting."
She looked out at where the sea would be could her eyes perceive it, feeling a lead weight pressing down on her chest. This would be difficult, more difficult perhaps because they were in a group. Would tempers flare? Personalities clash? She would just have to wait around and hope they could take whatever was thrown into their path. The fact that she was being ordered around made her hackles rise slightly, but she managed to maintain her stoic expression; it was all for a good cause. "Perhaps we should organize some how? Select a leader or something to that effect?"

Ameh
Ameh stared at the spot the winged female stood at, taking it all in. A task? .. Sure, the goal seemed easy enough. Find the place where a certain special type of seaweed grew out of all the other flora that grew on the island while taking care to actually survive in the part of the island where it grew. Satchel full. She paid no attention to her surrounding team members until Nahoa, who was cradled in Ameh's arms, began to fidget around. He looked up from his place at the other team members and poked his tiny finger on Ameh's arms.

She looked up around her - at the other team mates. Ah, it's been a while since she had ever had something like this - a quest - to fulfill. She tipped her head and greeted, "Hey, people call me Ameh. So, I guess I'm ready for this.. journey. Anyone need to make more preparations? .. Hey, anyone have a satchel?" She thoughtfully looked around, wondering if she would regret taking this task on with a few people whom she had never met before.

Mia Sharra
Amai walked over to the others on her team, Alek following beside her.She stopped a few steps away form them."Err..hello i'm Mia."Stuffing her hands into her pockets she looked over the other she would be working with.

Alek bounded forward and smiled at everyone"Hello!"

As the one she had heard was called Ameh spoke she looked at her."A satchel? Err..I don't."

Ameh
Ameh raised a hand in greeting to Ourania and Mia. "Nice to meet you," she said, also nodding at Caroline. She looked down at her feet, shuffling a little in deep thought, somewhat. "A leader.." she mumbled. "I wonder how we would be able to pick a leader? Eh?" she thought out loud. "..and if no one has a satchel," she mused, "we should probably go and get one, eh?" She chuckled a little and thought where her team would end up if they had traveled to the place where the seaweed they sought grew only to not have a satchel to put it in - just as the winged female ordered so.

Nahoa jumped down from Ameh's arms and raised an arm up, rapidly waving at Alek. "Hi!" he chimed out. He grinned from toe to toe, that method seeming to be his way to say "hello" to the other people in his owner's team. Nahoa wiggled his tail, excited that there was a bunch of people gathered around him - lots of friends for him to play with!

Caroline grinned at Ameh. "Hello, I don't know if I made to do this…my old bones may not be able to take this 'task'" The woman joked, rather apprehensive.

Lena jumped from her guardian's arms with a grand smile pasted upon her lips. "This sure sounds like fun, like a video game or something!" She sprung into the air with the excitment of the idea of this being like a real life video game.

Ourania watched Lena jump into flight curiously and gave the excited Nahoa a small smile before turning back to the humans of the group. "Does it really have to be a satchel full of the plant? Can't we simply improvise and use... oh I don't know, giant fronds or something? Having to use a satchel seems sort of... well, pointless unless it's provided directly."

The woman looked pointedly at Illiana while she spoke. "We need to move though, we can plan while we head toward the shore. Unless anyone has any objections..."

She flinched when she realized how bossy she sounded but let it go and hoped the others would let it slide as well. They needed to do something before the angelic became too pompous and called the whole thing off after declaring them frightened weaklings.

Illiana shot the silver haired imp a strained smile, "No... it doesn't have to be a 'satchel full' per se... I mearly mentioned that for ease in carrying. You will need to return with quite a bit and I would hate for you to drop some and have to face the hazards of the water a second time to return for more."

Ameh's lips curled up into a comforting smile as she went over and patted Caroline's back. "Don't worry, we're all in this together - whether we like it or not, we all have to help each other stick together to achieve our goal." She winked at Caroline, but her attention was soon caught by the words of another in the group.

She shrugged at Ourania and replied, "I guess we could. I guess I suggested finding a satchel because I take things too literally, oi..." She nodded. They should continue their journey and complete their task as soon as they can, lest the angel-winged one gets too impatient.

Ameh looked down at the ground below Illiana. She feared that it would have been considered ill-mannered and rude to look an angel-winged Zoombini in the eyes, but she nodded slowly to what she had said to her group.

Taking Nahoa up from the ground and motioning for her other Zoombini, Carbuncle, to come, Ameh took a few steps towards the west and looked back to her group, wondering if they were prepared to travel.

Mia blinked, wondering what they would carry the seaweed.Shrugging it off she turned to face West as well, giving Alek a pat on the head as she did."Well shall we get going then?"She glanced back at the other two to see if they were ready.

Ourania returned Illiana's forced grin. "Thank you for clearing that up, Divinity. I would have hated for us to come back with too little." She was quite certain that Illiana would have thoroughly enjoyed ordering them back for more once they had returned, but this she decided not to mention.

The pale woman attempted what she hoped was an assuring smile at Caroline, displaying her water-bottle and the small baggies of assorted food in her pockets. "This will allow for all of us to eat, so long as none are starving and this venture is not overly long. I had originally brought them to tide me over for a short while until I found food, but they will simply have to do for now. Hopefully there will be some forms of sustenance to be had on the Isle. As for first aid... I'm not entirely prepared. We'll just have to take care not to get stuck by anything particularly nasty is all."

Ourania shrugged to Ameh. "We have hands with which to carry, as well as pockets and sweet little Zoombini helpers. Surely we can fit enough of the seaweed between us that would add up to the proper amount... if not, we shall find ways to make it work."

The silver-haired female gave a short, distracted nod to Mia's query, glancing around for a bit before deciding upon a hefty, fallen tree-branch to use as a walking stick which would double as a monster-subduer if it was so required. "I hope that you are all equipped with defenses of some sort, I do not doubt the Angelic's statement about dangers..."

Caroline couldn't help but let out a giggle as Ourania showed Caroline her little baggies of food. "Ok, just don't want to strave to death or something along the lines of that." The woman flashed her group a toothy smile. "I guess this could be a life altering experiance...nothing to fret over." She finally got the point, feeling braver than before. Caroline picked up Lena and kissed her forehead softly. "I'm ready."

"I'm sure we will have enough hands to help carry, and we have a pockets...." Caroline felt her cheeks get pink, what if the stuff wilted or died in her pockets....bad idea.

Ameh had to hold in a snort as she heard the other members' remarks. She looked back to the sky, feeling that she didn't have a need to add to the conversation. A life-changing experience..? Sounds fun, she thought. She looked towards the general direction the group was supposed to journey to, then, and forced out a laugh, though there was a hint of fear in her voice. "I'll see what I am able to defend myself with, when it gets to that..." she mumbled, mostly to herself, and continued walking at a slow pace that gave her team members enough time to catch up, now that they had confirmed that they were ready.

Mia blinked as one of the others pulled food and a water bottle out."Im sure we won't need food, unless it takes us too long to get this seeweed stuff."She brushed a bit of hair away from her eyes and turned to look west,"Heh, I don't need no stinkin weapons."Mia stuck her tongue out, saying this more to herself than the others.Raising her wrist to her face she acted as if she had a watch and said in a slightly sarcastic tone,"Ohp, its getting late, perhaps we should start moving?"She started to bounce up and down on the balls of her feet as he looked back at the other two.

Ourania walked over until she was astride with Mia, "I'm ready." she stated, continuing on in what she assumed was a westward direction.

"Has anyone ever traveled around this island before? Know of any shortcuts?" She asked hopefully; it was going to be a very long, very tedious and curse-filled trip if no one knew the lay of the land. Perhaps the zoombini? But they were small and unlikely to lead correctly...

Ameh laughed. "I - Isn't.. Isn't everyone new here?" she asked, unsure. "And," she continued, "the only thing I have ever heard about shortcuts is that... well, I've heard that people are better off taking the long, right way, and not a shortcut. I mean, if we're all relatively new here, we shouldn't risk the chance of getting lost - or eaten - I mean, getting killed!... just for a shortcut? Gah..." She stuttered and continued walking.

Nahoa, who was in her arms, stifled a laugh at her for stuttering. Carbuncle didn't seem to mind, but his interest was rather on Ourania. He ran over to Ourania and tugged at her clothes, perhaps wanting someone to carry him.

Caroline followed the group cautiously. "Short cuts, I sorta doubt we will find one around here...." She scooped Lena up in her arms, holding her close.

Lena wiggled around in Caroline's arms. "let me free, let me free!" She chanted until her guardian set her down.

Caroline sighed and patted the zoombini on the head. "Weapon weapon?" She mummered under her breath taking a hand full of pebbles from the ground. "You think these could harm someone?" Caroline chuckled, stuffing the pebbles in her pocket.

Lena observed her guardian and did as she did, took a handfull of pebbles. " No one will hurt us!" she chucked a pebble as hard as she could; but it only managed to land only a few feet ahead.

Ourania shrugged uncomfortably. "I just thought time was an important factor considering..." she trailed off when she felt something tug on her shirt. Glancing down confirmed the presence of a zoombini child, pale of hair and possessing green and blue coloring with a pronounced red streak across his forehead. She smiled at him while she responded to Caroline's question. "They could, but only if you have enough upper-body strength to seriously throw them."

"Do you wish to be carried, little one?" she asked of the small zoombini, turning to Ameh to make certain the woman wouldn't mind.
