I cant eat anything with mushrooms!! I dont like onions, peppers or tomatos!! But I like the flavor they give food!! So anything along the line of having the onions, pepper and tomatos chopped in BIG pieces if fine with me!!!

Hi Cakes, I don't have Celiac, but often thought about cutting out wheat/gluten etc. I do have some recipes and I am always interested in alternative recipes. biggrin

thats interesting I dont think Ive run into an allergy to artificial sweetener before I avoid my daughter having it cuz its not healthy.. I am addicted to diet coke myself sweatdrop
one thing i'm glad of my daugher was tested for all sources of sugar and with the exception of some fruits she is allowed sugar so I can at least make her food taste good.

I guess to start with.. I dont usualy make recipies from allergy free books or celiac books I make them with regular recipies that I modify so I guess I should introduce my methods it would be easier than writing out a recipie
for most loaf or muffin recipies they call for 2c of flour ... to replace that I use a mix of 1/2c starch and 1 1/2c gluten free flour
starches: potato, white rice flour, or tapioca gluten free flours: brown rice, chick pea, garbanzo bean, amaranth, quinua, millet, or corn.. there may be more I cant remember at the moment i'll edit and add later if I remember
and to make up for the lack of gluten(stickyness) I add a tsp of unflavoured gelatine and a tsp of either guar gum or zanthum gum
the hope every time is that whatever I bake rises a little cuz its the gluten in a recipie that makes things rise the method for most people with celiac or gluten allergy is to add extra eggs but that wont work for me cuz my daughter is also allergic to eggs and dairy.. i will post more on replacing those later.

I've got a stupid question. If your daughter is alergic to all that, what do you do if you go out to a restaurant or to someone elses house to eat? I'm not trying to be a smart azz. I'm really not that bright but I am curious.

dragon_widow2 I've got a stupid question. If your daughter is alergic to all that, what do you do if you go out to a restaurant or to someone elses house to eat? I'm not trying to be a smart azz. I'm really not that bright but I am curious. its not a stupid question it's something we have to worry about alot. Generally I try not to take her out without bring food along just in case we cant get something she is allowed. fast food restaurants never complain when we bring out own food but i'm not sure about anywhere fancier (we've never tried) most of the time there is something on the menu basic enough for her.. like baked potatoes or salad. We tend to go to restaurants we have already looked at ingredient lists of.I'm almost certian it takes me longer to do regular grocery shopping than most because I reread the ingredient lables of the food I buy all the time to make sure they havent changed them on me. I send food if she is going to a freinds house, but usually we try and arrange it so she doesnt visit freinds during meal times.

Hey Lil, pay attention, she mentioned rice flour! xp
i looked this stuff up. About the only restraurant I found was burger king. i couldn't find anything on the bigger ones like red lobster or applebees. I'm glad I don't have to worry about this. I don't like cooking as it is. I eat out as often as I can.

mostly I go in .. my fav places to go are A&W and Arby's.. both canadian restaurants. at Arby's she is even allowed bacon so that helps and we can go to sushi places too as long as they speak enough english to be able to get hem to make stuff special.
