I was reading the current issue of Game Informer and there was an article on Xenosaga Ep 2. I thought I would post some of the information from the issue here just in case some people don't know about it (There were some new things I learned in the article 3nodding )

The US released of Ep 2 will have 3 extra boss battles (optional, I think. Maybe not) that was not in the Japan release.

The game opens up with a flashback during the Militia conflicts. When the flashback is over, it picks up where Xenosaga 1 ended.

We will find out Chaos' real name.

Everyone will share the same boost gauge in battle. You will be able to move to the characters on the battlefield. You will be able to switch characters in and out of battle.

There is more, but I don't have the time to post it now. I'll do it later.

Awesome! Is it the Game Informer like a December issue or something? My mom gets it in the mail (hopefully). Great info. Are the extra boss battles optional or do you have to fight them during the game?

I do believe it was the Dec Issue. I have to check to be sure. I think the bosses are going to be optional. The article said they maybe as hard as the Weapons from FF7 (Ruby and Emerald).

In that case, if they are going to be that hard, this is going to be a peice of cake. Ruby and Emerald were nothing to me by the time I got to that point in the game. domokun domokun

Actually they are pretty easy if you know a few tricks - my favorite is the 7777 trick ^.^ You just have to make sure one character has over 7777 hp and get into a random battle (usually easier with enemies that take off smaller ammounts of damage) let them get attacked until their hp ends in 77 - then just escape from battle and use potions until you're at 7777. When you enter into battle with either of the weapons you'll automatically go into 7777 fever and that should come close to killing either one if not just W-Summon either KotR or any other strong summon to finish it off (I recomend only using one character with the two others dead so if you don't have 3 mime materia you can just keep miming yourself if one KotR isn't enough to kill it).

But back on topic - 3 new bosses sounds like fun, but there are already several optional bosses in the JP version, so it kind of seems like they're just adding to the G2 campaign. I'm still hoping that they put the UMN database back in the US version, I was rather dissapointed to see that it was missing from the JP version of E2.

Though something else of note - apparently the grotesque load times have been greatly reduced for the US release (which is deffinantly a good thing - those load times were the worst I've seen in ages).

I was about to say that the part about switching characters in and out of battle was just like in Xenogears but then I remembered...that's actually more like FFX and Breath of Fire 4. But anyway, everything else sounds all good to me 3nodding

Yeah the biggest difference though between the XS switchy system and the one in FFX (since otherwise they're pretty much identical) is that switching eats up your turn.

Holy crap! *writes down the the stuff about beating the weapons* Finally, I may be able to beat Ruby Weapon.. >_>;;

Anyway, what about the UMN database? I liked the UMN database, it was so 'inspirational' to me e__e I hope it'll be present in the Episode 2, as well...spoot. sweatdrop

Neato!!! Must write down the helpful info.

Crud, no UMN! That system was very helpful. I hope they include it in episode 2. But how come it wasn't included in the Japanese version?

Dunno why it wasn't there, but maybe because they ran out of time? I'm not sure but a lot of things in the game seem to indicate a rush job through a good part of production (my theory is that E2 was well into development by the time E1 was released but then they decided - you know, we've got a good thing here, but let's re-invent it anyway since that always goes well! And ran out of time while redoing the graphics and game engines).

And if I recall correctly the UMN DB in the JP version of E1 was a lot smaller than the one in the US version, maybe it was seen as an unnessicary feature? (Though you'd think that it'd be important for new players since they have no idea what's going on in the story)

Yeah, newcomers willed be screwed if it wasn't included and those that are probably still confused from the first one.

I have preordered Xenosaga epesode 2. It comes out February 15 (hopefully) because on the website, it says Winter 2005, so I don't know what the deal is. Maybe if it gets delayed it probably will be out around that time.
