I'm supposed to be practicing but I am to tired of this sonata my teacher is having me play. Its so easy. I dont feel like playing it anymore. I should be working on my high notes but my mouth still hurts from getting my braces tightened a couple of days ago so I really dont feel like playing anymore today. I have my lesson tonight. I should challange Kristen in band now that festival is over. She said that she doesnt even care about chairs. Kit and Emmie shouldnt even be in wind ensamble. They're holding the flute section back. They dont know most of their fingerings and they keep asking me even though anna is next to them. Its quite annoying... why dont they just ask her. I wish I could be as good as kelly but she's been taking lessons from mrs. gilbert for a few years while mrs. gilbert has been teaching me since november. I wish I had taken lessons from her before. She just costs a lot... its definately worth it though. If there was a most improved award in band for this year, I would get it. From getting my braces on at the beginning of the year when I couldnt even play through the whole chair test (that was REALLY bad timing) to now where I could be 3rd chair but I never got a chance to challange Kristen. Its crazy how good I've gotten since I've started taking lessons from mrs. gilbert. Shes a really good teacher even though she's strict. I guess I will just have to practice even more (when my mouth stops hurting) and try to get good enough so I will definately make it into a good college. I cant belive I'm going to be a senior next year! It seems like just yesterday, I was in pre-school playing with my little friends.... time sure flies....

My mouth has stopped hurting after getting my braces tightened and now I figured out what the problem was! I didnt have my lips stretched over my braces enough! Now my tone sounds fine again! I'm so happy!

I met with my pianist yesterday so I could practice for solo and ensemble. I was a couple mins. late because I parked over on 5th street instead of 4th street..... I thought my flute teacher told me to park on 5th street... well, anyway, I was freaking out because I couldnt find an open door to the church where I was supposed to meet her but I finally found one and now I know where to go. I met the lady and I didnt get a chance to warm up and I sounded really bad at first... my flute teacher kept telling me that I was too quiet so now I need to practice playing louder and work on slowing down the vibrato on the first movement but otherwise I have everything perfectly. In band, we got Carmina Burana by: carl orf. Its tough in places (especially where my solo is) because there are tons of time changes in it. I was so confused when we were sight reading it. How do you read 8/1? anyway.... I guess I have a lot of practicing to do.....

so.... i was asked to play with this choir the day before the performance (which was yesterday) and so I got to practice yesterday and we played through the song once and then the choir director had all of these kids try out for the solo singing part..... I sat through all of that and then they decide not to play the song after all! So, I drove all the way home and had nothing to do for the rest of the afternoon. SO ANNOYING!!!!

I have my solo and duet for solo and ensemble all prepaired. I just need to find an oboe solo and I will be all set. I wish I could play the whole sonata for my flute solo but my teacher thinks it will be too long so she's only having me play the first 2 movements. I cant wait till the new version of smartmusic comes out so I can practice with the new songs.
on an non-musical note, I found a prom dress! I'm so happy! I was stressed about it because I am the one making all of the plans on what me and my friends are doing in order to get ready for prom. I guess after solo and ensemble, we can rush over to my house and get ready for prom then.

The new version of smartmusic came out yesterday! I'm so happy. Its too late to play my flute and piccolo now (especially the piccolo) so now I feel like my band director, sitting at the computer listening to band music. I have so much music to practice now! especially on oboe because I really need to practice even though I dont have any good reeds left... I have a decent one that I'm saving for solo and ensemble though. Thats comming up next week. THANK GOD! My teacher has had me play my solo for like 2 months straight now. I am so sick of it that I keep messing up because I dont pay attention to what I am doing. I even have it memorized!! This reminds me, I need to meet with the pianist again before solo and ensemble..... I should call her tomorrow and schedule something.... I have lots of stuff to do at solo and ensemble:
flute solo oboe solo flute/ clarinet duet flute choir
that means 4 medals for me this year (that is, if I do well on everything...)

I have the Concert on the Green on sunday. Its for all of the small ensembles. I am the only flute in wind ensemble playing since nobody else from wind ensmemble could make it. I have to play with the symphonic band flutes. They suck. We're playing these really easy peices and they keep messing up! Its JUST quarter notes and eighth notes! How can you mess that up? I'm playing picc. and alto flute for the songs (alto on one and picc. on the other).
On Thursday I have the regular band concert. I play throughout the whole concert. I play oboe with concert and symphonic, flute with wind ensemble, and marching bass drum with concert (we're doing a percussion peice called sundance) the bass drum hurts my back but its fun to play since its different from playing woodwinds all the time like I do.

I just got back from band camp. I'm so exhausted. I was so annoyed because my flutes don't even know how to play all of the notes in the music and 2 of them want to play piccolo. I am the only one on picc. right now and hopefully the only one because stupid R(i'm not putting the full name... just first initials) needs to get a life and stop asking me if she can play piccolo. She sucks. She can't even make it into Wind Ensemble. It seems like anyone can get into wind ensemble if the guidance office feels like putting them in there instead of symphonic were they need to be. 2 flutes in my section are in wind ensemble becuse guidance put them there. 1 of them didnt even try out. No offense to them but they suck. They think they're good cuz they're in WE but they really suck. Anyway, back to band camp... R thinks shes so much better than everyone at everything because shes had 5 years in marching band. Every time I tell her she's in the wrong place, she argues with me even though we both know that I'm right. Once, I just snapped at her and told her to "JUST LISTEN TO ME!!" and she got really pissy with me. At least she got in the line (you could definaltly tell that she was in the wrong place). I also asked K to be quiet. I even asked her nicely by saying " Sorry K___ but I need you to be quiet. The drum majors asked me to make sure all of you are quiet" and she just kept talking to people as if she didn't even hear me (which I know she did because she turned and was listening to me). I also told another K (I have the people in my section that have names that start with K) to be at set and she just said "dont tell me to be at set" even though we obviously had to be at set. I hope they were being like this because they wanted to go home because I really can't deal with people being like this all year. I also have an E who doesn't listen when we are in block. We learned how to march in block but she doens't do any of it when we're on the feild. I think I am just going to have the woodwind captain take over my section for a day and just teach E proper marching technique. That way I definately know that she knows how to march. I can't exactly teach her how to march when we are in the middle of sets because we aren't allowed to talk then and we have to stay on our spots unless someone in our section has a question and even at that, we have to answer quickly. I tell my section good job and I try to be nice so I have no clue why they're so rude to me at times. Like I said, I hope this was just because we were at band camp....

We just had our first game. It was awesome! This one girl who is really annoying and always argues with me about how she's right and I'm wrong, even though she is wrong, wasn't there. I hope my band director kicks her out of band. I will check the band handbook and see how many practices she has to miss. We did an awesome job though! I was so psyched after the game! Then some stupid girl had to break her ankle and hald us there for EVER!! She was probably doing something stupid too... They called the ambilunce and we were sitting in the school for ages until they finally dismissed us.

I'm sooo happy! I got to practice for like 5 hours straight yesterday! I have orchestra auditions tomorrow!! I'm nervous but also excited!! I need to work on my oboe though. I am having trouble with the chair test that I have to take on tuesday. The test is easy on flute but hard on oboe. I will definately get 1st chair for flute in Wind Ensemble, but I hope I get 1st in symphonic against Bailee. I think I will but I don't know if she's been practicing or not. I only practiced oboe for like 30 mins. because I wanted to practice for my audition today. Gotta practice this morning so I can be sure everything will go smooth for today.

I got principal chair in wind ensemble on flute and principal chair in symphonic band on oboe! YAY! I tried out for Senior Reighonal Orchestra but didn't make it. I got 4th out of 20 flutes. They only accepted 2. Oh well. Now I can go to my last marching band competition EVER! I am looking at colleges now and prepairing for auditions. I am trying for Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Eastman, and Peabody. I am also thinking of West Chester University and the University of South Carolina. I am so nervous about auditionind already. I have district band auditions comming up in december too...

I'm mad because they changed the drill in our marching band show today. This one girl who never shows up until the last minute is going to screw up everything for my section. My band director always lets her march too.... and we have a competition this weekend!! UGH!! Too much stress! Plus I have all this college crap I have to do and my teachers are seriously loving to give out homework so far this week!! HELP!
