Here's a thread for any new members to introduce themselves to the populace of ICA (Isobelle Carmody Appreciation). Post anything you want - if you're stuck for ideas, maybe post which IC books you enjoyed, who your favourite characters are, etc.

I live in Brisbane, Australia...
I've been reading IC's books for 10 years now...am *quite* addicted.
I've been a part of the IC community, obernewtyn.net for 7 years (and been co-moderating it for about 5 now?). It was a member of Obernet that lead me to Gaia, so in creating this guild, things are just going full circle blaugh
My fave Carmody book...well, as much as I adore the Obernewtyn Chronicles, as they were the first IC series I read...I'd have to say the Legendsong is my favourite series. There's an added depth and reality to Legendsong...anyway.
My favourite character would have to be our dear Dameon. Bless him blaugh
I've had the pleasure of meeting Isobelle a few years ago at a writer's festival, and she's the loveliest person! She signed all my Obernewtyn books for me biggrin
Other than Obernewtyn, I'm a bit of a (new) Doctor Who & Torchwood nut...if you couldn't tell from the signature razz

I'm Neith. xd ...well, on here, anyway. And I'm in Melbourne.
I've been reading the books for around seven years. :O I think I'm still a member of obernewtyn.net but it was hard to get into it when I didn't know anyone. @_@ Maybe you can get more people from there onto Gaia. :O Avatars could be very handy in creating misfit RP characters. ninja Or there's always the breedables forum if someone started up an Obernewtyn shop/RP game. (Which I can help with.)
Favorite Obernewtyn book is Ashling, and a lot of that's to do with the name. And favorite character is that Gypsy prince. o.o Mmm.
Oh yea, I RP. Lots of things. I'm also RP manager at some shops in the breedable/changeable forum, ex-co-owner of a couple, colorist, that kind of thing. And I'm a writer, I'm doing a tafe course centered around writing and editing.
OMG. DOCTOR WHO. heart Have you seen the Christmas special? :O Rose and the Doctor were the best couple. I don't know what's with me at the moment but I seem to be attracting storylines with perfect character relationships that are doomed to fail. >_< But I thought that if Rose was in a new dimention then there'd have to be another Doctor. She just needs to tie him down.
You met Isobelle? :O! Omg. Omg, lucky lucky lucky thing. Although, she lived in my old English teacher's neighbourhood (apparently). It's kind of nice to have a great writer in the same country. biggrin

Hello all. Thanks for inviting me here.
My name's Ruby, I'm 15, Live somewhere in country Victoria (It's very rare anyone would recognise the name). You can call me Ruby or Red or Gem or whatever you like really, I don't mind.
My grade 5 teacher got me reading IC books. So that would of been... 6 years ago. I've read all of the Obernewtyn books (so far) but I don't remember very much of them, It was a long time ago.
Asides that I own the first two books of the legend song and I love them to death. I can't find the third one anywhere.
and I own Alyzon Whitestar which was a beautiful book. My favourite character the whole way through it was the sister who she shared a room with. I don't remember her name! The one who always insisted everyone call her something else and who had two different essence scents. Bleh! It's obviously been two long since I've read her stuff.
You met her? Wow... I met someone with the name Isobelle Carmody once. I was like " eek OMG! Really?" and they gave me a weird look xD Good times...
And besides Isobelle, bookwise I also love The Hitchhiker's Guide Trilogy (in four parts!), Duncton Wood Chronicles, The Chanters Of Tremaris, A lot of Victor Kelleher's stuff... umm... Lemony Snicket's Series Of Unfortunate Events, Heidi xD ... and anything that makes me think.
and besides books, I love music and drawing and writing and ... Everything I like. xD
Wow introductions are weird to write. Why do I feel like I just joined a cult? That or a alcoholics anonymous xD

Yeap, I met Isobelle in 2000 at the Brissy Writer's festival...some friends from Obernet and I went along and interrogated her blaugh She was so nice, though. I've written to her a couple of times and gotten about 5 letters and a postcard back from her - she's just so nice. A real inspiration. Kudos on getting into writing yourself! What kind of stuff do you write?
*squees about Doctor Who* OMFG yes, I've seen the last episode! Why did Billie have to leave? crying
Ruby: I'm glad you decided to join! Alyzon's sister...was called Sibyl? No, it was something else, she wanted everyone to call her Sibyl...? Shannon? Something beginning with S? Serenity? Gah! lol *shrugs* I can't remember either! I loved AW too! Beautiful book smile
If you liked AW, you might enjoy Billy Thunder and the Night Gate, and it's sequel, The Winter Door. TWD "Rage" and AW "Alyzon" have very similar characteristics (or so I thought...)
As for Legendsong, there is no 3rd book yet...Isobelle's still gotta write it (after TSK & TS!) but it's going to be called "Darkbane".

Rushton is mine! So everyone stay away! Lol. I love Ashling purely for the line "Ravek my Elspethlove" and the oh so enjoyable jealous Elspeth!
I started reading IC 6 years ago now... wow thats a long time...
I was/ am part of the Carmody online internet community which I found more inviting then Obernet or what it is.
I plan on calling my first daughter Isobelle Ashling cause I am evil in that sense.
Other authors I love include Stephen King, Terry Goodkind, Tamora Peirce, Emily Rodda and Jean M Auel.
Thats all I can really think of at the moment... Hope it was enlightening!

Hii ^^ I'm Maryam and I'm from Sydney but am in Pakistan atm. You can call me Maza or Mazarati or Maryam - i don't mind. =)
The first IC book I ever read was The Gathering, when my great grandmother sent it to me as gift. Funny, she started me on Harry Potter too... xd
I loved the Gathering. It got me hooked on IC. My favourite series would have to be Legendsong. I heart Solen! lol I can't wait until Darkbane comes out...
I also love the Obernewtyn series. Unfortunately i left all my obernewtyn copies except The Keeping Place in Sydney so...I might have forgotten a bit of wehat happened in those other books sweatdrop I don't know why, but I really like Alad whee and Dardelan heart and Swallow. lol >< they're all awesome.
Apart from my schoolwork, I've also started working as an assistant teacher in Kindergarten, so I may not be very active. But I'll do my best to pop in here every once in a while!
I am a part of the carmody online community, and i also joined obernet about two weeks ago, but I haven't been extremely active sweatdrop there's just so many online communities and so little time to spend with all of them crying
Anyway, it was nice to meet you all and I hope we get to have some interesting discussions!

Welcome Deschaine and maserati!! Glad you joined biggrin Deschaine I was/ am part of the Carmody online internet community which I found more inviting then Obernet or what it is. really? That's a bit disappointing, what happened at Obernet that turned you away? (sorry, as a moderator I can't help but be biased and worry when someone didn't feel welcome). And you're not crazy blaugh I've had plans to call any daughter I ever have Isobelle as well!! Or Elspeth razz

Well since we've already gone and started the introduction process...
Mah names Loz, I live in NSW on the coast - loved Isobelle carmody ever since I was a tot. Ten, if you must know. Maybe before then... I have no idea. Love Obernewtyn and Alyzon, and the Gathering.
I'm Sixteen and am currenlty doing year 11 at Highschool, where i'm part of the group of people everybody refers to as 'insane', 'crazy', and who literally runs through the area where we sit, for they are afraid of getting our disease.
I love writing. I'm a fantasy write-a-holic. I also love Bleach, Ouran High School Host Club, Samurai Champloo, D.N.Angel, Final Fantasy (games and movies) My PS2... and too much music. J-rock is a fav.
Err, other favourite authors include Tamora Pierce (I love her circle of magic series), Raymond E. Feist, David Eddings... others...
Oh, and if you really want to know more, check my profile ^_^
Favourite characters = Matthew + Ceirwan + Dragon.

Welcome Zedeki - you know, I was waiting for someone to say they were a writer! That's yourself, and Neith now - IC fans so often are writers smile
I love Final Fantasy, V, and X razz I haven't played any of the others, those two were enough to occupy my time! Are the other FF games good? What about the newest one (XII, I think?).

hello! I'm Aerith, jess or Anti-Charles.
I live in Canberra, ACT.
I'm 14 turning 15 in September and am currently in year 9.
I started reading Isobelle Carmody's books two years ago. She came to my school and not very many people knew who she was but I was soooo upset I didn't get to go see her.
I love Fanal Fantasy VII, VII and XII (I haven't played the others), Tamora Pierce, Anime (can't think of them right now), Manga (same) and Kingdom hearts. I actually like getting good grades and have an average of about 4.5- 4.7 (although I'm aiming for higher!)

I write fantasy/realisim/alternative world/...sci-fi, it's hard to really label it at the moment. xd It might even be Earth in the distant future! I ...really don't know. I'll tell you when it's done. blaugh
But yea, they are. O_O I wonder why that is, why there's so many IC fans who are also writers? Maybe she just provokes the writer in us all. biggrin
mazarati, it's great that you've left the copies. :O You have a great reason to buy the new books with the new covers! blaugh heart Oooh, what's Pakistan like? o.o -curious-
Oh man, I listened to The Gathering on an audio book... and I HAVE a small fluffy dog exactly like that one in behavior and looks... so it kind of upset me a great deal. sweatdrop But it was a great book.
