  Sure do! Heh...
  No....T_T
WTF?!! SEMI-Hidden characters?! I didn't know about that!
  I didn't know they were semi-hidden...
No, but I didn't want them. They were weak.

No, I'm not talking about Cid or Ritz.
I'm talking about characters like Little Villi.
Do you have any of the semi-hidden characters. Did you even know they existed? Lets discuss them, shall we? ^_^
PostPosted: Thu Mar 15, 2007 10:31 am

I have them all, but I had to look up how to get each one of them cuz at first, I only got about 2 or 3 of them. Wanna know how to get them all, here you go:

ELDENA
Finish ANY mission successfully (be it Dispatch, Clan Turf, or Battle) with the mission item ELDA'S CUP set as one of the mission items you would like to bring along, and Eldena MAY offer to join your clan.
CLASS: Red Mage. Has Viera jobset.
SKILLS:
- A-ability set "Red Magic", with the following mastered:
- Barrier - Raises weapon defense and magic resistance.
- Doublecast - Cast two spells in quick succession.

LINI
Finish ANY mission successfully (be it Dispatch, Clan Turf, or Battle) with the mission item THE HERO GAOL set as one of the mission items you would like to bring along, and Lini MAY offer to join your clan.
CLASS: Mog Knight. Has Moogle jobset.
SKILLS:
- A-ability set "Charge", with the following mastered:
- Mog Guard - Focuses power to improve weapon def. and magic res.
- Ultima Charge - Charge attack born from ultima magic.

CHENEY
Finish ANY mission successfully (be it Dispatch, Clan Turf, or Battle) with the mission item SNAKE SHIELD set as one of the mission items you would like to bring along, and Cheney MAY offer to join your clan.
CLASS: Hunter. Has Human jobset.
SKILLS:
- A-ability set "Hunt", with the following mastered:
- Capture - Puts live monsters into the monster bank.
- Ultima Shot - Hunting attack born from ultima magic.

PALLANZA
Finish ANY mission successfully (be it Dispatch, Clan Turf, or Battle) with the mission item WYRMSTONE set as one of the mission items you would like to bring along, and Pallanza MAY offer to join your clan.
CLASS: Gladiator. Has Bangaa jobset.
- A-ability set "Spellblade Tech", with the following mastered:
- Blitz - Uses aggression to sense and attack target. High hit rate, low
damage.
- Ultima Sword - Mageblade attack born from ultima magic.

QUIN
Complete mission 063 - MISSING PROFESSOR. (This mission is located at the Tubola Caves) Quin MAY offer to join your clan upon conclusion of the mission.
CLASS: Sage. Has Nu mou jobset.
SKILLS:
- A-ability set "Sagacity Skill", with the following mastered:
- Giga Flare - More powerful version of "flare." Area affect.
- Ultima Blow - Powerful sage attack born from ultima magic.

LITTLEVILLI
Complete mission 043 - CLAN LEAGUE. (This mission is located at Bervenia
Palace) Littlevilli may offer to join your clan upon conclusion of the mission.
To make mission 043 - Clan League available, you must complete Missions 40 through 42 (which become available after surviving against Llednar), read the rumour "Clan League Final", and complete the clan missions Yellow Powerz, Blue Geniuses, Brown Rabbits and White Kupos. (These are Reserve missions)
CLASS: Sniper. Has Viera jobset.
SKILLS:
- A-ability set "Sharpshoot", with the following mastered:
- Doubleshot - Attack twice in quick succession.
- Doom Archer - Deals archer's lost HP worth of damage to HP & MP.

If you have trouble getting any or all of these characters to join yer clan, try any of the following tips:

1. With the secret characters, sometimes players seem to have trouble getting them to offer to join your party. There is but one reason for this: NO ROOM IN YOUR PARTY. Their offering to join your clan IS NOT a random event. It should happen. (Maximum party members: 24)

2. Let's use Eldena as an example for this one. Many, many players try once, with Elda's Cup set as the mission item, and Eldena doesn't turn up. This is because, with the semi-secret characters, whether they offer to join your clan or not IS RANDOM! Chance and probability, capeesh? wink I heard someone had to try 20 times to get Eldena. So keep trying!

3. Many people suggest you save before you do a mission to try to get one of the semi-secret characters, and reset and try again if you don't get him/her. I agree with the saving part, but you DO NOT have to reset. If you bring an item on a mission where it is not required, IT STAYS in you inventory. So you can keep going, try a DIFFERENT mission, and bring the item along again. That way you don't hinder your progress while trying to get the characters.

4. With semi-secret characters: DO NOT DO THE MISSION WHERE THE MISSION ITEM IS REQUIRED!! You don't have to! If you do, you'll lose the item! So bring it along on ANY OTHER mission, so you can keep trying. You cannot get another Elda's cup, Wyrmstone, Snake Shield or The Hero Gaol unless you trade (maybe).

5. Some people still haven't gotten this figured out. Well, here's how you
bring items along on missions:
a - Go to the pub, and select a mission.
b - Now you should be at the mission info. page. Example: Uldaon Bog: "Won't someone help me build a bridge over Uladon Bog? It would really speed up travel." Iluluna, Young girl.
c - Press a once. If this is a dispatch, you should now be at where you choose who to send. If it's battle, or clan mission, then go straight to step e.
d - Press "a" once.
e - Now you're at the screen that says "Choose what to bring on [Uladon Bog]"
f - Press up once, and press "a". Then select the item. Easy as pie!

6. It is *possible* that if you send a character on a dispatch mission with two of the items that are required, you will have a higher chance of getting one or another of the characters. i.e. Send a character off with Elda's Cup and The Hero Gaol, and you'll have a higher chance of getting EITHER Eldena or Lini. This is unconfirmed, however.

Oh my god, I freaked out when I finally got Eldena. She was 3 levels above everyone else, and I had a doublecasting red mage before I even killed two totema. Eldena rocks! My only beef with her was she didn't have a lot of MP, so I made her into an elementalist instead of a summoner. Still, disabling two enemies in one turn isn't something to complain about. ^_^ She's the ultimate Flan killer!
PostPosted: Tue Mar 20, 2007 4:25 pm

Yes! I love Eldena as well. I'm not sure what to level her up in after she learns some elemental abilities. It is said that the ones who get more MP are the summoners but I'm not sure...
I usually use both "fire whip and "heavy dust" so that the enemy gets stopped, practically. mrgreen Later on, I use sliprain twice so that it won't be getting it's turns back so quickly. Why twice? Cuz I've noticed that sliprain sometimes doesn't work (the "slow" part I mean).

Yeah, Eldena is amazing. She's easily my favorite of the semi-hidden characters. Double cast is brutal, and hse only makes it even more so.

The funniest thing with my semi's are: they are un-used. I got them, I let them rot and take up space, while my 6 main party members (Marche, Montblanc, Nou Mu, Bangaa, Viera, Human) kill every thing in sight. I dont like to change up my party much, since its hard to lvl characters at the same lvl.

I feel the same way, but when I got a doublecasting Red Mage when Marche was still at the wee lvel of 11, I felt like I was still early enough to make a change (Good bye useless Montblance!). I just sent her on a load of Dispatch missions so she would learn what I wanted for her.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 26, 2007 2:40 pm

Really? So Cheney would be a good Paladin/hunter for you, eh Hanpieta? I mean, if you haven't used him at all then he must be able to use Parley and Oust very well.

Ha-ha! Good bye useless Montblanc... I ditched him in my second file too. I just made him die when we were at a Jagd one time and, bam! He said his good byes and everything. I found that rather funny... mrgreen
I'm not sure if I should do that in my third file cuz I'm making Montblanc level up as a thief. Even though he gains only 2 speed points per level up, I think it's a bit more than usual. When he leveled up as a gunner, I noticed he only gained 1 speed point so...
But you know, I usually change my line up of characters for battle depending on the situation. Like right now, I'm waiting to see if I come across some bugs with the ability of "Lv3 def less" cuz, you know how you can't learn that if you are past a certain level, right? Well, since two of my human characters have approached level 30, I don't want to use them (in battle) til I face the bugs.

Am I the only one who ended up with a God-like Montblac?

I find the semi-hidden characters pretty weak. LittleVilli is a nightmar eto train, but train her I do.

And thanks for the information, hypnocrown. ^_^ I needed some of those listings.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 09, 2007 5:13 pm

I think you might be the only one, yes. How did you level him up anyway?

Hmm, I see yer point. I only got LittleVili once and I'm thinking not to accpet her the third time around. I'm only looking forward to accepting Ritz, Shara and Cid (because of the law breaking thing, sometimes he can be very useful).

Sure, no problem! I think the only ones you could miss are "lv3 def less", "Goblin Punch" (Unless you have someone to link up with) & "Dragon Force". If there's another one I'll let you all know a bit later (or you can find out for yerselves at gameFAQs). 3nodding

those three are it. Also I managed to get a montblanc that rivaled a Nou Mu in magic xd . When I see a moogle killing a mage with magic, it just cracks me up..... rofl rofl
PostPosted: Thu Apr 12, 2007 2:23 pm

Yeah I guess there aren't any others, huh?
Hmm, so a Montblanc with good mage stats? You must have leveled him as a black mage the whole game, right? I'm still leaving my Montblanc as a thief and see if he gains a decent speed stat. My last one had a speed of about 169 or so...
You know, you guys should see my Little Vili. She has an attack power of 613 thanx to the Gastra bow and a few other accesories (like the caligula and a Genji armlet). She can pack a wallop of around 600 (depending on the enemy of course) worth of damage if she uses her ultima masher ability. My Eldena however, doesn't have a lot of magic power as she only has about 530 or so. And that's only after equipping her with certain things that enhance her magic power. I wonder if I leveled her right in my second file... At least this time around I'm making her level up as an elementalist first but, I should probably look up which job allows for better magic power growth; not to mention MP growth as well.

Summoner job is best for that. MP and Magic power goes hand-in-hand. The white mage gives good Mag def, Red mage gives decent stats, Fencer is high attack, archer and sniper get med-high speed, Assassin gets high speed and Elementalist get decent everything, more towards magic power and attack.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 13, 2007 11:58 am

Yeah, the only disadvantage with the summoner job is that it doesn't give out speed growth at all. Does it?

All Viera classes give out speed bonuses. Summoner and White mage just dont have the "cream of the crop"
