Laini paused outside the jungle she had seen so many times before. Funny - or perhaps ironic - that she had ended up there. She had awoke that morning to find the breeze that she had followed, that had seemed to give a purpose to her wanderings had disappeared. In her distress, she had set off in a random direction, one that seemed most comfortable to her. That she had ended up here was a surprise. She tried to lessen her panting and stood there waiting for a true calm to come over her. Muroki's pride was somewhere in there but she did not know if she dared enter. She did not fear anything being able to overcome her. Rather, there were many ways of getting lost in a jungle; of that, she was sure.

Muroki was still exploring the outer jungle more than the inner pridal lands, having met none but Mteuli yet. He's observed some others from afar and smelt their scents on teh breeze, but something kept luring him outside.
He wandered down the animal-track paths and thought about everything that came to mind, following his paws without paying direction any head until he reached the outskirts.

It was a wonder how time passed. It seemed like only yesterday the girls had been babies-they were growing so quickly! They were only juveniles now, true, but he was amazed at how much they had changed. They certainly made him proud. Shula had even asked him if she could come along when he went traveling again-and how could he resist that cute little face? So he planned on taking a small trip with her soon, but first he wanted to do a few patrols of the outside jungle. After all, you never knew who you could meet.

Laini, having officially calmed down, realized she needed to think of a new purpose for her life. The breeze was gone so she couldn't follow that. Wandering about with no purpose wasn't very lovely either. Lately she had felt the need for there to be structure in her life. Exposure to other lions had shown her what it was like to have a path to follow, even if that path was more mental than physical. The jungle she sat outside of was a prime example. It taunted her with the knowledge that a pride, comfortable and safe and with its own community laid inside it somewhere outside her reach. She couldn't ever have something like that, could she?
Just as such thoughts were putting her in a sour mood, a yellow figure became visible through the foliage winding their way down a path. The irony seemed to be increasing with every breathe for that yellow figure was the form of Muroki.

"Laini?" Oh how typical. He went for a walk to be alone with his thoughts and once again, there was that distinct teal and grey form in the distance. Or perhaps it was a trick of his vision? Muroki decided he'd better go see. She was a friend, after all. And who was he to argue when the breeze brought her here.
The 'Walker headed towards the lionness, with a smile and a hint of anticipation. If he thought about it, he'd realise he'd missed her. Laini used her brain and was good to talk to at any rate.

Mteuli moved through the trees easily, for he had known them all his life. He knew how to navigate the jungle as easily as he knew how to breath. Such was the life of one who grew up here. He continued his patrol with light steps, his mind relaxing in the comfort that was his home.
(( I'll have him join them next post. ))

((okie dokie)) Laini felt the need to sit down and did so, waiting for his approach. She didn't exactly know what she'd say to him. With someone who pointed out that conversation needed more than just pleasantries, there was only so much she could think of to say. He was a nice guy to be around but she felt less than competent in his presence, always searching for something to say that would suit for conversation. She didn't necessarily like that feeling that told her it made her weaker than she'd like.
She did her best to shake off that feeling and smiled back. "I don't seem to be able to stay away from the jungle, do I?" she said, half making fun of herself.

"Maybe the breeze likes it here. Still following it?" Since she was sitting, Muroki sat down as well, his ringed tail still twitching at the tip.
(Muse....dead. ^^' Sorry)

Mteuli's ears twitched as he heard distant voices. Oh? Did they have visitors to the area? He moved swiftly through the trees, his skill at traveling through its narrow paths obvious. Finally he came upon those he heard talking. One was the all too familiar Muroki, a new member of his pride. The other, however, was a stranger. But it didn't change his reaction. He smiled, his eyes offering a warm welcoming to both of them, "Why hello there! Muroki, who's your lovely friend?"

Laini let out a nervous sigh at Muroki's question. Had the breeze led her here? "I... well, I sort of lost the breeze." He was a friend so she wasn't as uncomfortable about admitting the truth. She probably would have put on an act otherwise.
Laini jumped at the arrival of the stranger, placed slightly on edge. She studied him but nothing in his stance or voice suggested a threat. And he knew Muroki too. She calmed down back into the state she had been in previously and decided to let Muroki do the talking. This must be another member of Muroki's pride that he had mentioned.

Not enough time to question about the breeze....another had joined them,
"Mteuli." Muroki bowed his head for a few moments longer than usual, out of respect for one of the priests of the pride. Despite his old rank, the pale lion hadn't any qualms about showing the usual gestures that obviously marked Mteuli his superior.
"Laini, meet Mteuli, a priest of the Unity Walkers. Mteuli, this lovely lady is Laini, a visiting rogue and a friend of mine...of sorts." The last part was added as an after thought, jokingly.

Mteuli brushed Muroki's formalities of titles aside as if they were a tangable thing that could be swept away with his tail. He smiled at both of them, dipping his head in a half-bow and nod of a friendly gesture. "It's a pleasure to meet, you, Miss Laini." He tilted his head at Muroki, a warm glint in his eye, "She's visiting? Well why didn't you invite her in, Muroki? We're more then happy to have visitors."

Upon hearing Mteuli's title, she blanched slightly before recovering. She had never been a religious person herself, never seeing a reason to, but her mother had stressed the importance of priests. It made her slightly nervous meeting one, as if he could read her and know everything about her. "It's a pleasure to meet you too," she managed with a slight bob of her head. A part of her rebelled inside against her attitude, telling her she was being weak. But it was soon quieted ...or perhaps it gave up. Regardless, the voice soon disappeared.

Muroki simply nodded at Mteuli's question. He'd be as respectful as ever until the day the priest told him to stop, it was just the way the male had been raised. Turning to smile at her, he made a gesture towards the jungle with his head - want to, Laini?
