Exams will be held every month or two. In order to pass the exams, you will need to know you stuff. Exams will include basic knowledge of spells, school lessons, and creatures. There will also be trivia questions. All answers will be found within the RP, or any of the Harry Potter books. When it comes time to test, your teachers will inform you and you may take it when ready. You do not have to take exams, but there is no other way to gain wizarding levels. By passing exams and extra credit, you will be able to use more spells, different classes, and have more opportunities. OWLS and NEWTS will be administered for qualifying students.
