Me and Steve mix it up, so we have a little of both for both of us in our games. Mostly because I find the bad-a** look some of them can achieve fun.

I almost always play females, but I play guys once in awhile. Though it's always the girl on Tenchu, because Rikimaru is so much slower than Ayame. Seriously, ninjas have to be quick!

It really depends on the game (or type of RPG). If you're talkin' Champions of Norrath, or Champions Return to Arms... then I'm usually a chick, they have some ruggid a** armor on there and they're just plain -needs a drool bucket-
But if we're talkin' other games that make the chicks way to femme, definitely gonna be a guy. Granted on here, they have guyish clothes so I chose to be my actual gender. KEKE ^_^.
Then if you go VTM-Bloodlines or just plain old VTM, I'm always the chick, for reasons unknown, the guys are just to... to... manly?

On WoW I usually stick to playing female characters, same with the Pokemon games. With fighting games, I almost always play with male characters. I've noticed that in a lot of the fighting games I've played, a bulk of the female characters look too girly or too skanky. -.-
However, when I roleplay, I sometimes play males as well as females. It depends on the roleplay. If it's a series based roleplay and there are canon characters available, I seem to usually pick male characters. I've also been considering crossplaying at an anime convention for shiggles and gits.

I stay away from most graphical games with non-chibi characters and I usually play male characters, with my primary online graphic-based games being Maple Story (in looong hiatus from that) and Trickster (same). One morning after I had played Maple all night I was talking to this girl and telling her about people often getting confused by my gender and she was telling me that her sister loves guys like me. Twas fun.

I've pretty much ALWAYS made girl characters when it came to character customization. As long as I can remember I always made girl characters. They just felt better to me. I do realize that a lot of female characters in games are really skimpy clothed or big boobed. It's why I always pick the warrior types, because they usually have the best armor, that and I like having really rough and tough characters. I'll occasionally make a guy character just because it's fun. I tend to pick females in the generic fighter games like tekken or DOA, but in Super Smash Brothers, the only female I'm good with really is Jigglypuff, and she's bloody androgenous. Although probably leaning more towards female. I mean come on, bow? Ribbon? Totally a girl. Or maybe it's another Birdo? But I love playing Marth in SSBM, he's my best character.
