YES, I AM MAKING A MARK TWAIN TOPIC.
So in my English class we're reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and it's somewhat difficult to get through, though I think that's due to the speed with which our teacher assumes we should be able to read an amount of chapters.
However, I still love Mark Twain for his silly sort of comedy and his very nice satire, and there are moments that I have to love in the book.
Have you guys read any Mark Twain? Novels, essays, short stories? Did you like them or no?

I read "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" a long time ago, but I don't remember it that well... confused
Hal Holbrook's rendition of Mark Twain was awesome, though. My mom has it on an old vinyl record, and we still pop it in from time to time. He really was a genius... Twain, that is. Not Holbrook. XD

We just finished Huckleberry Finn in English class. Twain certainly has a great sense of humor. I want to read A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court; my friend read it and loved it. He's a great author.

I read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. It was pretty good. I like Twain's short stories as well. They're so...fun!

Even though I've only read Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer (well, I read Saywer years ago), I love Mark Twain (or Samuel Clemmens, whichever ya like). He had/has the most wonderful sense of humor. Just the other day, in AP English, we read a satirical piece he wrote called "Advice to Youth," and I recommend it wholeheartedly. I laughed out loud a few times and got weird looks from my classmates.
Hal Holbrook does an amazing job portraying Twain. The only thing that bugs me is the way he smokes a cigar while he performs the act. I guess this make it more authentic, but the smell is awful. (*I'm asthmatic and a health nut. Smoking is a nice way to drown in your own poisoned lung fluids.*)

Mark Twain gets a very mixed reaction from me. Letters from the Earth was brilliant, but Life on the Mississippi was one of the top 3 most god awful books I've ever been forced to read. He does a good job at satire, but his serious work leaves much to be desired...
