Jystan Woods
A large forest to the west of Venna, the main source of food for the Oaxuians that reside in Venna. This bit of woods can be dangerous, but many will stray in for the paradise inside. Mengkir enjoy living in these parts because the goads enjoy being closer to the sounds of the city. If you go in far enough, there is paradise.
The main source of water also comes from these woods. Because paradise is the large waterfall that is hidden inside. If you decide to follow the river, be careful, for there are more mengkir then you can shake a stick at.
Deep within the Jystan Woods, in said paradise, is indeed a large waterfall, known as Engel Falls, the home of many of the peace-loving Sarus. Also within the Jystan Woods, though on the edge and in a clearing much-less hidden, are the Fairgrounds, where celebrations are often held for the citizens of Oaxu.

Patrella looked around, a bit weary. Something was following her, but she couldn't tell if it was a wild mengkir that was simply hungry, or a Oaxuian that was bored enough to kill her. Obviously, now it would be the time to leave the forest. She was certain the sun would set soon, and her family would not be to happy to see that she was not home, or dead. Patrella really didn't care, other then the tinge of fear that fluttered in her stomach. The forest was her favorite place to be; away from all the chaos of the city, Venna. Trella grinned her green eyes dancing over the colors in the trees. A sudden leap from a bush startled her, her eyes widening as she jumped back. A small, tan and fat goad jumped into her pathway. "Silly creature." Patrella ran a hand through her wildly pink hair, a quick sigh leaving her body. Goads liked bread, and could smell within a miles radius. She had packed lunch before leaving her shack, hoping she could stay out a bit longer if she could convince Danu that she would be safe. Tearing off a piece she lowered it to the ground. The goad hastily took it from her, and leaped off a bit. He watched her as he nibbled down the hunk of bread. The goad looked different from the ones Danu kept in his shop. He was the owner of Venna’s best familiar shop, and also her adoptive brother. This goad was wild looking, messy, and dirty. It wasn’t a near bit nice as the one her brother gave her. Another rustle in the bushes began, but paradise was on her mind. Finding her way back to the stream, she followed it, hoping it would lead her there.

Aella was out hunting again, she was still using her cheaply bought bow, with tatty ragging for grip. Although from the brightly coloured feathers which tipped the ends of her arrows you could tell she was willing to buy nicer arrows now. She had improved over the last few weeks and she was slowly getting a greater aim. She wasn’t such a bad archer now. She had already brought down quite a large adult Goad and she had it tied to her back. She was quietly making her way through the forest stepping through thick bracken and ferns. She adjusted her headband as she scanned the trees for movement. The knot was loose and the horn was working its way down onto her shoulder. She stopped for a second to tighten it ,holding her bow between her teeth. As she took her bow into her hands again she saw a shadow from the corner of her eye. In a flash an arrow was drawn taught and aimed at the spot. She was improving, she was a much more confident in her skills and her surroundings. She had to be careful with the Mengu in these parts they could just appear from no-where. Also with a great big piece of Mengu bait strapped to your back they would be ever so much more eager to come out. But that was what Aella wanted today, she was Mengu hunting, she just didn’t want to take on a whole pack of the creatures. She found a good clearing which was just full of tall bracken, with a good sturdy tree near its centre. From the trees branches she would see any Mengu approaching, she put the goad down at the trees base and quickly filled up her water bottle in a small trickling stream (she might be up there a while). She then clambered up into the tree and sat on a good thick branch with her bow in hand waiting for any mengu coming sniffing.

The Anwen sniffed disaprovingly.
What a pity that perfectly good meat had just been put to waste by lack of skills in cooking. That was Ezz's job. Sure Aeru was older. The provider, the guardian, and all of that. But all the same, he could not, for the life of him and his little sister, cook. Luckily his little sister was not around to witness his utter failure at cooking, being that she wasn't even in the forest at that time, so he was able to dispose of the burnt meat by way of digging up a hole by a tree using his hands as if he were some sort of dog, and burried the abomination. No doubt some stupid creature would dig it up and eat it itself, but that wasn't his problem.
His problem was finding some new meat.
This, luckily, was not a problem for the Anwen. He lived for hunting. Well... Technically it was hunting down other humanoids, whoever it was he was sent to... Do away with, for lack of a kinder way of saying it. But hunting animals put his same skills to the test. If anything it was easier to hunt them.
He was obviously armed. Daggers were tucked into the blue cloth around his waist and in his boots. That was all today, however, six small blades, because why carry around unecessary metal when there was no need?
Clearly he was not alone in the forest. With the excellent hearing and sight the Anwen were born with, he could tell of at least two presences. One a Sarus, the other one of his own, an Anwen. The Sarus seemed to be too far away to confront with his teasing personality at that immediate time, but the Anwen was close, and he closed in that distance by leaping into the nearest tree and continuing on that way.
When she was in sight, it was clear she was hunting as well, but Aeru didn't seem to care in the slightest. He slipped from the tree branch, his tail grabbing onto it as he fell so that he was hanging from it, looking too much like a monkey for even the Anwen assassin to be taken seriously. He swung a little, watching the girl, then a smile broke out on his face. "'Allo li'il Anwen girleh. Wus' a li'il one like you doin' huntin' all bah yo' lonesome hm?" In truth Aeru was only a few years older than the other Anwen, but all the same he'd call her little, no matter how old she was. Stubborn Aeru, that'd probably be what he would always call her, if he ever saw her again.

Aella broke her concentration for a moment to see a Male anwen swinging from his tail from a branch beside her, it was a little hard to see him as a threat as he looked so odd doing this. But from the handles which stuck from his waist and around the sides of his boots she couldnt tell what he was doing in the woods either. She wanted to say he appeared to be an assassin, his dark clothing and the overkill on arsenal made her think this. Although he could just be another hunter, she couldnt quite tell straight away. "'Allo li'il Anwen girleh. Wus' a li'il one like you doin' huntin' all bah yo' lonesome hm?" The fur on the back of Aella's neck bristled, 'lil' girleh' no one was ever going to take her seriously. 'Im trying to make a living, these orrible mengu fetch quite a nice silver on the market.' She eyes the assortment of daggers again, she couldnt help but enquire'
'And whats a girly anwen like you doing with so many knives? You an assassin or somthing?' Aella returned his snarky nature with a grin. She did want to know though, she wasnt comfortable around assassins really. She took her attetion back to the Goad by the tree base, it was quite a warm day and the scent of blood would carry nicely, would'nt be long before some mengu showed up. She shuffled the bow in her hand again and watched the meat.

"Girleh?" Aeru attempted at a look of mock horror, throwing his hands to his chest and opening his mouth and eyes wide. "Ah beg to differ, li'il one." He left that at that, dropping from the branch to the one that Aella sat on, a half-smile crossing his face. He looked the girl over, eyeing her bow and the way she dressed.
Instead of answering her question on his proffession, he went on to question her instead. "Well, I'unno! Wha' abou' yeh there, wus a li'il girleh like yeh doin' makin' a livin' on yer own? Li'il girls shouldn' be huntin'." At least he was telling his true opinion right there. Truthfully, he didn't think little girls should be hunting on their own. Ezz would be the same age as Aella, no doubt, if he was assuming her age correctly. And he insisted his sister live in town where she was more safe, and let him do all the hunting. The forest was no place for young ladies to be, it was simply too dangerous. But he wasn't about to go into a rant on that, of course. Usually any time he went into a rant on something of the sort, people would thing he were old fashioned.

Aella smiled at his act of shock, it was nice to meet someone who diddnt think of themselves too highly, or take themselves so seriously. Aella found a lot of people at the moment were uneasy around each other and were very defensive. He dropped down from the higher branch and nearer to Aella. She also noticed how he diddnt answer her question. 'If he was a hunter he would have no problem telling me his profession, well perhaps he isnt an assassin, he could be a thief or perhaps an unusual job, he could work with the traders he is quite well dressed, and if he works with trade and money you always know someones after your blood.' Aella quickly mulled over.
"Well, I'unno! Wha' abou' yeh there, wus a li'il girleh like yeh doin' makin' a livin' on yer own? Li'il girls shouldn' be huntin'." Aella frowned and glared at the meat below, she tapped her feet on the branch testily. 'What would you prefer lil' girleh anwens did then? stay home cooking or wait for our strong warriors to bring home our gold?' She got quite uppity about her life choice, but she knew she was doing quite an unusual job for her age. She had had a strict upbringing, her mother wanted her independant fast. Aella had missed out on a carefree childhood, but that never really bothered her. After pausing to think about what she did for a job, she uttered. '...This is one of the more tasteful ways I can go about making my money'
The thought of working in a brothel had crossed her mind at one earlier time, when she caught nothing at all and with her mother gone, she was living in the streets with no money. One of her friends had left to work in the brothel, but after going to visit her about work and seeing the beating she took from one of the more intoxicated clients, she thought again. Aella was just happy to be able to support herself now, that was all she needed for the time bieng.

"Tasteful is right." He mused, grinning. True, sitting around at home would have been extremely boring, as would many jobs other jobs that would have seemed more appropriate for a lady.
She was right in thinking that he could be any of those professions, though the only correct assumption was that he truly was an assassin. He most certainly would not have gone out and said it right like that. That was stupid, indeed. And while revealing himself to just one person wasn't the worst that could happen, he didn't like the idea of it so much anyhow. There were plenty of Anwen assassins. She was right to have thought he was one of them so quickly.
"But tha's not fair, is it? Ah have no problem with ladies huntin' too. S'jus' a dangerous forest, y'know." He was still grinning as he said this, and he leapt up, grabbing hold of the branch above them and swinging forwards, wrapping his legs around it and letting go with his hands. He hung there for a second, then swung again to grab onto the branch in a better way, and lift himself up onto it. He sat on all fours there, staring down at Aella. Damn it was fun being an Anwen.
In truth he had nothing against females hunting or doing other such things. It was simply having a little sister and knowing how dangerous it could be for someone who couldn't protect his or herself. If this Anwen could though, then by all means she should do whatever she wanted. But Oaxu forbid anyone who didn't know how to properly take care of themself go wandering the forest without a clue what they're doing, just to look cool or brave or whatnot.

The stream became wider, but it stayed at a relatively shallow depth. Removing her shoes, Trella stepped in the invitingly cold water. Her toes slipped in the sand, and she gave them a wiggle. She felt calm, her heart rate slowing as she carried her shoes along side her. Voices rang through the woods. People?Hustling over to the voices, she looked around. There was no one as the voices stopped, and she sighed. It was pointless for her to sit and wallow that she was hearing things.... again. So she turned away, and continued on. Not knowing that the voices were right above her.

Aella nodded at his comment about the forests bieng dangerous. Mengu were in particular, very vicious when in packs, that was why Aella opted to do this the easy way and wait up a tree for them to come to her.
'Sure its a dangerous forest but its only natural that in the worst places are the best prizes,' she stopped to laugh and grinned back 'just sod's law eh?'
She peered down at the meat below and couldnt see and Mengu yet, although she did see the pink haired Sarus getting dangerously close. That smell of blood will drift far and she could be caught in the middle of some hungry mengu soon. 'What is she doing down there?' Aella muttered, watching the Sarus wandering about. 'Oi pinky! you better get shifting if you want to avoid the Mengu!, Its either get up a tree or clear off or they'll be after you!' I wonder if she heard that, Aella hoped she did, but sarus were good at geting out of situations like that, she could just change into a dove and be away. Aella leaned back agaist the trunk and watched the long grass hopefully. After a while of watching though you start to just imagine the senario the horrible muddied fur emerging from the grass snuffling and snarling. But the grass remained the same, just still, no mengu yet.
'I'm Aella by the way, if you ever feel like calling me anything other than 'lil girleh' She said as she leaned her chin in her palm, she held her bow in her other hand. It was then she heard a howling in the distance.
'Shouldnt be long now.....'

"Pinky pinky pinky." Aeru repeated, giggling a little as if it were the funniest thing in the world, when really it was just his cheerful attitude today.
The Anwen looked down at the Sarus below them, then, really behaving like a monkey now, started to crawl across the branch towards the trunk of the tree, then down the tree, using his tail to hold onto the branch still in case he should fall as he made his way down to the lowest branch. He paused there, then sat on it, legs dangling off the edge. He looked up at the other girl in the tree. "S'Aeru." Then he flipped backwards, swinging, until he had re-positioned his legs so he was hanging properly.
"'Allo li'il Sarus gal, ya gonna come up'in this 'ere tree with us, hm?" Briefly he wondered if this girl was one who was sour with his kind and with the rest of the Dark counterparts of Oaxu. So many were, really, and it was annoying to tell the truth.
If he had to, he would pick his own side of course, with the rest of the Dark Oaxuians. But if it were up to him he'd say away with this ridiculous war and start to get along for Oaxu's sake. Then again, he would have very little reason to do what he did for a living, and thus he wouldn't be able to provide for his sister... But would it be that awful to try for a more respectable occupation?

Muttering slightly, the name 'Pinky' annyoing her. But, they seemed more legitimate then they sounded. Dressed in their hunting fatigues she gave a smile. A different setting from home.
"If your are waiting for Mengu...." She got on her knees, laying her ear to the ground. Thundering, deep in the roots and base of this tree. Pulling her self up the trunk of the tree she grunted a bit. She settled her self in a branch near them. "....Their in a pack, around 8 more or less."
The alpha male was with them. His paws in the ground made a certain sound, a ring, a thunder. It would be her chance to maybe steal a few pups for Danu. "They will be here soon." She leaned back against the tree.

Aella smiled as the Sarus settled nearby, she was quetly impressed by the girls ability to tell the number of Mengu so easily and was glad for the information too. 'Thanks for that Pink' Aella smiled, while pondering about how to approach this.
'Blimey 8 of them thats a decent sized pack then, well your both welcome to take a few mengu, i'll only manage to carry about three of them anyway. There i was thinking i would only attract a small scouting pack'
In the back of her mind Aella was happy that Aeru and the sarus were here, she diddnt know that such a large pack would show up. But with company she felt far more confident in herself.
'What would i be calling the new resident of this here tree then' Aella turned to the sarus from her already taught bow.
Then Aella heard them the paws like thunder, the grass shook and rustled as through the leaves little trails were appearing in the distance, all headed for the bait at the tree base.
'Oh dear here we go'
Aella pulled up her bow ready to fire

((Come'on guys! Keep posting! biggrin ))
"I have a name. It's Trella." She lifted her self from the ground, making a few mental notes. She looked up to the two Oaxuians up in the tree. The mengu only had packs of ten, from her knowledge of reading books. So, if eight were here, then two were back at home. Most likely lower members, one that would be easier to intimidate. Breeding season was over, and the pups had to be a month or less old. "Please kill all eight. I will help you carry them to market if you do so." If the female Anwen took down all eight, she'd have a better chance of stealing the pups. " I need to go an head for their cave." Trella was a quick tree climber, since she didn't grow wings to fly. She darted up to the tree next to the Anwen's and she leapt from tree to tree. The noises from the racing of the mengu got louder, and louder. Once she saw them race under her, all she need to do now was follow their tracks. She jumped through a few more trees, and she landed on the mossy earth. The mengu tracks didn't go to far. The den was near, as the sound of a growl-like bark echoed her way. Trella pushed through the bushes just so she could get a view of the cave. Only one lowly looking mengu sat outside of the cave, her ears being tugged by two scruffy and fluffy mengu pups. A knife was tucked under her skirt, but she doubted that she would need it. Jumping from behind the bushes she raised her hands and waved them furiously. Along with the movement she screeched, like a Hjuuki; a large wingless bird in the Jystan woods that like to mess with mengu in free time. The pups had no clue what the Sarus female was doing, so they sat, and watched in amusment. But the mengu pup sitter knew better. She scruffed up one of the pups in her jaw, and ran like hell. Trella chuckled, and pulled long rope pieces from her hip, and began to rope and wrestle down the four remaining pups. The pups seemed eager and curious, so they were willing to have rope tied around their neck. But the following behind part was confusing. They stumbled behind her as she walked back to the two anwens. She hoped that they took care of the eight mengu adults.

"I have a name. It's Trella." The girl blinked "Please kill all eight. I will help you carry them to market if you do so." That was helpful of her, Aella smiled. It looked like today was going to be a good hunt. Trella glanced back and forth like she had something else on her mind. " I need to go an head for their cave." and with a quick flid movement she gracefully left from branch to branch before Aella had a chance to ask her why.
Taking her attention back to the fast approaching Mengu she drew the bow tight and fired an Arrow at the leading beast. She let the arrow fly and it landed in the creatures shoulder. It yelped and went down tumbling in the dust.
'Damn' Allea had aimed right between the eyes and missed, she only wounded it. She needed to kill it before it got back up again.
This time was easier the creature moved slowly as it slowly rose up shakily onto its claws. With a short yelp it fell straight down again, an arrow protruding from its skull.
With one of the larger mengu down Aella felt more confident and aimed for a slower older mengu, This one she took out with one shot an arrow powering into its throat. Grabbing another arrow she readied a shot at one of the closer Mengu, it was hard to aim on such a fast creature. She aimed once agian between the creatures eyes and fired. The arrow sailed forward and lodged itself in the dirt behind the beast.
'Crap, missed'
This one was fast it kept low to the ground as it charged forward teeth bared. Its eyes were glowing with rage. Aella concentrated this time and aimed between the shoulderblades and let the arrow fire. With a wet 'Thock' it struck the creature directly in the back. The creature fell howling in pain, unable to move its back legs it flailed slightly in the dirt before lying still.
'Three down another five left'
