Those few months ago, Elijah had watched from the cave as Iea left.. Just like everyone else. All besides Khan had left him, which had left him mis-trusting of another who dared to intrude upon his life. He found it admirable that Iea had even stayed that long. Although she had probably collasped under the emotional strain."It always happens.." As he grimly smiled. "They always leave.." Not like he cared though. It happened too often, that he already lost count of how many times that it did happen. But to escape the evil atmosphere surrounding the forest.. and his thoughts and feelings, he had traveled far from civilization to a isolated field that no one had entered for ages, it seemed.
His hooves paced around restlessly, as he found that there was no enjoyment to be found here. What was wrong with him? Before, he would have found this sort of place to be a perfect place to dwell within the shadows.. Maybe to spend the rest of his life dwelling in the shadows~ But he found now that he craved something else.. He refused to admit whatever it was however.
Khan, after the experience, had told him to come back.. To mingle in with society, But he had stubbornly refused his offer. He didn't trust himself in anyone's company anymore after what happened. It was only one female is who knows how long that he had encountered, and he had instantly.. almost come to care for her. He didn't want to be repeating the process with someone else. As long as Khan was there, that was all he needed.
As he took a sip for the little stream nearby, he found himself staring up at the afternoon sky.. "I wonder how dying feels like..?" As he pondered the question thoughtfully. Throughout the few months, he had given heavy thought to the matter, and to his miserable existance. He had not thought his existance was that miserable until that encounter with Aaya..

To say that Iea had barely given thought to the incidents would be lying. She had told herself to forget them, told herself to put it behind her, but at the same time, occasionally, she found herself wondering what had happened to the solitary Elijah.
She had returned 'home', or what she called home, and had spent the first few days listlessly recovering her routine. She was not a cheerful soul by nature, but a practical one, and soon this lifeless nature gave way, and she returned once more to her cold, quiet state.
She found herself avoiding crowds less and less. Though she never mingled, always on the outside, she began to appreciate more the different personalities, different points of view, although perhaps she would never fully understand them. She wondered what would have happened if, all those weeks ago, she had stayed with Elijah, and she had known how to react better to all that had happened.
She'd started travelling more, too. Determined not to rely on others, she familiarized herself with the surrounding countrysides and spent many a quiet afternoon just wandering, thinking. There was little else to do after all; she had no obligations to anyone or anything.
This was one such afternoon, and the place she had landed at could not have been more dull or neglected. But it was quiet, and that was what counted. She headed for the stream, feeling hot and thirsty after her flight, listening to the now familiar c***k-c***k of her bangle on her leg, a little rusty and not so gleaming now, but still beautiful in her eyes.

Elijah glanced in the distance only to see another equu. He or she was too far away to make out if it was friend or foe, stranger or not.. But one could hear the wings flap softly, before it stopped.. So whoever it was had landed.
"Ah. I see.." With a heavy sigh, he didn't feel like encountering another whoever they may be. He didn't feel much of anything these days. Days would go by before he felt hungry, or he would sleep for an insanely large amount of time and such.
He was feeling more and more reclusive as the days came. He heard more and more complaints from Khan about it, much more than once. But than Khan had left in frustruation.. Although he knew she would come back. He looked foward to his time wtih the little minx.. She stood her ground well.. A slight smile played on his face as he thought about her fondly.
But the hoofsteps came closer and closer. A familiar scent tugged at the back of his mind.. But for the love of god, he couldn't remember it. How strange.. He walked away to leave but oddly, something compelled him to look back before leaving.
The sight left him with a faint look of surprise in his eyes for only a second before he realized the familiar intruder. He didn't expect to see her again. But the feeling was most likely mutual.

As she drank, she became aware of someone watching her. Surprised, for she had not expected anyone to be in this lonely place, she looked up, alert, wary.
She hadn't expected anyone, but definitely not him. She felt awkward, to say the least. Should she acknowledge him, or wait for him to acknowledge her? Or walk away?
Something stopped her from moving though, maybe years of good manners drilled into her head. Out of pure habit, she found herself inclining her head a little. "Good afternoon, Elijah."

How courteous of her. But it was a required item to move through society's social ladder. He never understood the purpose of it though. The realization struck him as a random one but it wasn't of much importance either. But as he closed his eyes briefly, he debated the issue with slight care. He wasn't one to listen to society's laws or much of anything else unless it suited him in a situation and another.
But if he replied.. It would certainly spark up a conversation and whatnot.. Something he didn't want to do at the moment. But she at least deserved credit for trying.
With a soft yet monotone voice, "If you will excuse me, I will have to take my leave. Distractions are quite bothersome." As he turned his back to her to head to his original destination. Maybe later, he would inform Khan of his destination seeing as how she would be quite angry when she could not find him. For now, He just felt like getting away, from reality.

"Distractions? From what?" She replied curtly. The landscape around them was bare, empty; what could he possibly have to do out here? Something about his voice had annoyed her - did he really not care to see her again? She hadn't expected a joyous welcome, that was for sure, but...it stung a little to be coolly dismissed. Even more than an outright rejection.
But it was clear he wanted to be alone.
"Don't bother yourself to leave," She called after him. "I merely stopped here for a drink. If my presence is that bothersome, I'll be on my way."
To somewhere, She added silently. There was nowhere she needed to be, nothing she needed to do. This place was as good as any other.

'Do you really need to know?" As he raised an eyebrow. He didn't take her for stupid. "As far as I'm concerned, my private life does not not extend to anyone other than myself." he said curtly before getting ready to leave.
At her reply, his face hardened. "I don't trust you to leave. You have a stubborn streak, Iea. Don't think I've haven't seen it." As he headed off to the general direction of the forest.
He hated this. being vulnerable to another person. "Pathethic." he muttered to himself. It was indeed pathethic. But memories could be forgotten. That at least, consoled him.
