Yup, it's me again with another help thread for you guys! This time, I'm going to show you a tutorial on putting on a wig. It may sounds simple but if not done right, you can look really weird in your wig. The tutorial was written by a person who's really familiar with cosplay.

First of all, I suggest that you get a wig cap because they will help tremendously in the process. They're rather cheap and you can find them in most stores such as Party City. If for some reason you cannot get one then here's a way to create your own.

Katasha
Making a wig cap: (and yes you NEED a wig cap for your wigs. Not only does it hold your hair in place so it wont poke though the wig is also keeps your wig clean.)

Making a wig cap:

Take a normal knee high stocking; a new one is best.

Tie a knot little more then halfway up and pull it tight.

Cut off the excess.

Now for the actual process of putting on the wig.

Katasha

Now how to put your hair up all depends on what kind of hair you have. If you have really thick hair you want to part your hair into two pieces and twist it up the back of your head. --->

If you have really long hair you want to twist it like before but circle it around the crown of your head.

If you have thin hair you'll be fine just twist it up into one piece like a French knot.

Now to put on the wig cap you want to grab the front piece in between your teeth and pull it up over your hair and down the back of your head. You always want to go from front to back to catch your bangs.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v625/Katasha/wig7.jpg

While pulling the cap back over your head, use your thumbs to stuff the hair under the cap.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v625/Katasha/wig8.jpg

Pull it down as far as you can. I have a rather low hairline so some of my hair does stick out the back and that's normal. Just try and stick as much under the cap as you can.

Use your fingers to massage the hair and spread it around so you don't have a large lump in the back of your head.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v625/Katasha/wig9.jpg

Pull the knot forward and tuck it under the front band.

Putting on the wig:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v625/Katasha/wig01.jpg

Lean forward and rest the front band on the wig in the middle of your forehead pulling the wig back over your head. --->

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v625/Katasha/WIG02.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v625/Katasha/WIG03.jpg

There are two tabs on the side of each wig that should line up perfectly on either side of your head. Make sure they are right in front of your ears.

Brush the wig and your ready to go!

@Sensei - Elba and I get our wigs from an eBay user: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZzhenna0036

@Ralph: If you want a good wig it's going to cost around 25-60 dollars depending on length. Otherwise you will get a wig with the feel of a mop.

I haven't really started wig shopping for my Sora cosplay yet, but when I start to think about it I'm in total wig confusion. The Sora wigs I see on the internet dont really look that good, but I dont know what I would do or how much experience I need to try and make my own Sora wig out of a regular wig. Any ideas on what a first time cosplayer should do? confused

The best thing to do is to get a wig that has the right color and a nice length, like medium. Get some good gel/hairspray (but I think gel is better to work with) to make the spikes and cut accordingly to how short you want the hair to be. It might take a few good tries to get it right, so you could always get some practice wigs that arent too great but work for practice.

Thanks for the tips ^.~. Yea I think I'll definately consider practice wigs. Dont wanna spend money on a nice wig then ruin it on the first try O.O.
