Once again you enter that church. All of it feels so nostalgic. It was merely one year ago that this place was unveiled to the public for the first time. Merely one year ago, everyone descended the stairs that seemed like they never ended, only to find a large pool of water. And after that? More never-ending stairs. But in the end, it was ALWAYS worth it. At least it proved to be last year...

Once again, you reach the grim looking undercity. But there is nothing Grim about it tonight at all. Tonight, there's a party going on, one of the biggest yet. Stepping into the giant mansion, you see massive decorations adorning the walls and it seems even more splendid than usual! Tonight is the night...of the Second Annual Alchemist Ball, sponsored by the Alchemist Cafe, and hosted by Veridel Hibiki and Khana Naragumo! And that's just who approaches you.

"Thanks for coming! Welcome to the 2nd year!", they say in unison.

It was time...the wait had been long enough, and in honesty, the kitsune's stomach was flip-flopping. She stood just outside, tugging at a hem in her gown as she looked up at Lady Dante's mansion. It was creepy, true...but Khana always loved the sight of it...spooky...looming...like it was waiting for them.

Khana had been dawdling, knowing she needed to enter, but not exactly wanting to. At least...not just yet. The music was just beginning to pick up, and she could barely see the glow from the ballroom where she stood. She bit her lip nervously, fiddling with her dress as she stared up at the beautiful achitecture. Why was she so nervous? Veridel would make sure everything was perfect...wouldn't he?

Clearing her throat, she lifted her milky dress and made her way up the marble staircase, knowing exactly what she'd see when she made it in...the Grand Ballroom below her, golden and red splashes of color adorning the walls, people laughing and dancing...so why was she so nervous? Possibly because there was no one to escort her in this year, but was that really it? Being alone didn't bother her as much as she thought, but she couldn't shake the feeling of dread.

As she reached the entryway she peeked over the railing, looking down at the floor. Her dress shuffled slightly, filling the spaces around her with sparkles and silk, making her feel pretty for the first time in months. As her emerald eyes serveyed the dancefloor, however, she realized one very horrifying thing...there was no one there. She was alone. She'd sent out the invitations...nearly everyone she knew had recieved one, so where was everyone?

Pulling herself away from the banister she lifted her head in defiance, the light glinting off the small tiara she wore and flashing a spectrum against the wall. Panic wanted to set in, but she set her jaw against it and took a deep breath, closing her eyes for a moment. Everything would be fine...at the least, she'd have a story to tell the next Monday at work.

Taking her hem in her gloved hands, she made her way to the top of the stairs, the small gems in her hair glinting in the light as she looked down on the empty floor, her strawberry lips pursed in nervousness. Had she dressed up for nothing? Had it all been a cruel trick?

No. No one could be that cruel. With a heavy sigh the little kitsune lifted the hem of her dress with one hand and placed the other gently on the banister, then took her first steps down to the ballroom. They would come...it was time now to sit and wait...they would come.

A wind blows open the front doors and continues to blow holding them open, a smoke starts to roll in, a large humanoid creature walks in, they make their way in to the center of the room, the smoke turns purple, and it bellows at the top of it's lungs as the bellow stops it yells " He's back! "

The cafe owner made her way down the stairs carefully, every step seeming to take one more breath out of her. She wore, for once, clothing that was not a kimono, but a classy, elegate dress. Rei struggled to heep her feet buried under the hem, embarrassed to show that she had not risked wearing heels, but kept her wooden clogs on. She was not accostomed to walking in any other footwear anymore, and feared falling down the stairs she had climed last year on this very day. It was not long before she noticed a familiar face not too far away.

"Ah, Khana!" Rei waved, keeping one hand steady on the railing as she went faster down the stairs, no longer as fearful of falling. She was greatful when she was standing by her friend. She looked around. From what she could so far see from the stairs, it looked absolutely wonderful. "This place is amazing," she remarked, looking around "I forgot how it looked since last year... I suppose we're the early birds, arent we?" She said with a smile. Butterflies acted up in her stomach as if on cue. "Do you know if anyone else has arrived yet...?"

Rei heard the voice immidiately, and let out an aggrivated sigh. She knew he was comming; heck, she invited him, she had wanted the entire party here. But was the dramatic enterance so... necissary?

Veridel stepped to the dressed up woman, his hostess, and smiled.

"G'd evening m'lady". He offered his arm to her to allow her a step to the dancefloor. "How've you been Khana. It's been a few weeks. I wonder where everyone is. Y'think we need to spread the word a bit?"

Yuni peeked through the railing, holding a fistful of her kimono in one hand as she stared down at the ballroom floor below her. Last year, she had arrived far later than this, and had been able to hide somewhat in the mingling crowd. After all, who would notice a tiny little neko child when there was food to eat and dancing to be done? But this year, she had come too early. There was hardly anyone here yet, and Yuni was relunctant to descend the stairs. Not to mention that her paws felt abnormally strange in the sandals she wore. Sighing, she began the perilous trip, careful to stay near the wall as she descended, holding her shoulders carefully straight, balancing her ornamental wings still.
She would just be a wallflower tonight, watching the grown-ups dance. It would be enough for the little girl.

The young red-headed demon tip-toed into the church, trying not to make too big of an entrance. She sat down on the floor in a corner. Angel was sure alot of people from the cafe were mad at her for being gone for so long. She just silently stared amoung the small group of people that have already arrived.

How long had it been since Seph's body went into tetai? Two, perhaps three years? True, his mental age was older, but his physical age was the same, the body of a 19 year old, same as last time he came here. The only real change that could've been visible was his now, semi-lifeless, dulled, red eyes. A time warp, and a travel back in time helped him get back to the right time zone-- the only danger was, he couldn't be seen by anyone from his "home", for should that happen, he'd no doubt cause a mass paradox, and collaspe of the time-space continuum.

This building was only the decoy, everyone was going to the stairs, and heading down. Stairs? What. The. Hell? Why is it always stairs? Do they like to torture the guests before they actually enter?' This is what ran through the young alchemist's mind as he decended the stairs. He was only on the first flight, about one-thousand steps down, and they still seemed to go down. This was beginning to get annoying, but he didn't want to risk increasing his speed beyond a simple 5 miles per hour whilst going down.

A while's walk, and Seph was at what seemed to be the end, but nope, water, and a stair well at the other end. Now this was an easy one, just increase the speed to about 100 miles per hour, dash across the water, and then head down this flight. Repetitive. Oh how this was repetivite. Take a step down, turn a few degrees, take another step down, repeat. "I'm beginning to wonder if dwarves made this. Unless the crafters wanted to mess with the minds of who ever came." Minutes passed. Time passed, and finally Seph arrived at the destination-- or at least, so he hoped. It was a dark city, under the main one-- but all he needed to find, was where all the sounds were coming from.

An easy enough task, all he needed to do, would be go to 60 miles per hour on land, and he'd be able to find it easy enough by sprialing from the outside, in. He would be like a marble, or coin rolling around the edge of a coin before it reached it's final destination at the very center. All he was seaching for, was someone he recognized from the cafe, or the actual sounds of the ball. As of yet, there has been no luck, but he wouldn't give up so easily. "Where is it?"

The time was now, now when Seph would meet up with one of his old friends-- Khana Naragumo. He had gotten invite to this place not long ago, and had been planning on how to do this all covert-like, but he decided against it. Should he destroy everything that he knew, he wouldn't mind-- just as long as he did it, whilst having fun at this little ball. Dressed as casually as ever in his leather overcoat, unzipped, over one of his many solid black t-shirts, now tucked, into a pair of navy blue jeans. This was a sight to see for those who knew him, he rarely tucked his shirts in.

Well, he was here, and so were two other guests, one of course, one of his "old" friends- Khana Naragumo. The building, magnificent, perhaps crafted by alchemists? For all he knew, it could've been-- this was hosted by alchemists of his kind, and more specialized in other arts, unlike him, who was a jack of all trades, master of none. "Quite interesting..." The man muttered under his breath as he studied the architecture for as long as he could-- namely the walls. They told the most, usually, but he was no dwarf, nor was he a master to tell the difference between an alchemical built, and built by other forces.

Her stomach settled when she heard Rei's voice, and she turned, adding a rather soft smile to her lips. Even she wasn't completely convinced it was a real one...msot days, she couldn't remember what a real smile felt like. Today, however, she could probably make an exception...it was time to smile again.

"Rei," she said softly, giving her a small curtsy and tipping her head gently. "I'm so glad you could make it. I suppose we are, though...it seems rather late. I figured there would be others here by now, but I don't min-" She stopped, looking back up the stairwell to see the blonde man making his way toward the two. Her emerald eyes lit up, and as he offered her his arm, she curtsied gently and placed her gloved arm around his, picking up the hem of her dress.

"Would you please excuse me, Miss Rei?" she asked lightly, tipping her head once more before giving her another soft smile as she picked up the hem of her dress. The Sonicboom and I have a few party matters we need to discuss before things get underway. I'll be back in a few moments."

She let him lead her to the floor, pursing her lips gently as she listened. Her tail swayed lightly and her red-brown ears flicked this way and that, listening for others to arrive. When he was finished speaking. she picked up and said, "I left a note in the Cafe before I made my way over here. I just...hope it will be enough. Dante-sama wanted to know if we needed security...she said Punishment would be an excellent choice. I'm fairly sure she doesn't want anyone in her garden. Remember last year?" she asked, with a slight smirk. "Where's Lorian?"

"Gwaaah! Come on Wrath! You're looking fine!" a girl cried out, pulling along the boy that was with her, along with some other people. "Wrath!" the girl cried out, looking over at him, her curly golden blonde hair dancing around her as she stomped a foot on the ground. "Stop acting like a child and come with me! You like marvelous!" she snapped softly.

"Yeah yeah, easy fer you to say!" Wrath hissed softly, narrowing his amethyst cat-like eyes before huffing. "And in case you haven't noticed, I AM a child!" he added, sticking out his tongue before his arm was grasped once more and he was pulled along once again, heaving a deep sigh and finally walking along with her. "I don't wear this stupid thing! Where did you hide my actual clothes?!" he snapped, pointing at the pants and then the shirt. "This all.. IS looking so damned formal! I'm even wearing shoes..."

"Don't whine, Wrath!" Sammie groaned, rubbing her head once before stepping inside the mansion together with Wrath, Twilight and Nova.

Nova gave a soft whistle, looking around in silence before scrunching his nose. "Wonder what's keeping Skye so long." he mumbled. "This place is looking nice!" he finally stated with a soft snicker as he walked along, glancing towards Wrath. "Aw, poor kid, don't worry it's just one day." he stated, earning him a murderous glare from the small homunculus.

The homunculus girl smiled faintly at the others before stepping along in silence, watching the place and finally glancing at Sammie, she knew that the girl could not be here long because of the different time zones. But atleast she had decided to come, whilst she had been planning not to, because... Well, of the time difference.

What should I do? the man asked himself as he walked down the stairs. The blond headed man had never been down this way to get to the Alchemist Ball, last year he just made a tunnel to get in last year, but the tunnel was later sealed by Khana. He didn't know if he should go to the ball this year but he decided to go anyway.

He push his thoughts to the back of his mind when he began to hear the music and other sounds of the ball. He had cleaned himself up for the ball, he had clean his red scarf, and polished his gauntlets. He wore a black tuxedo and black pants, and an eyepatch adorned his left eye.

After a pause to collect his thoughts, he entered the ballroom, he looked around for someone that he knew, hoping that there would be no bad incidents here at the ball, he was tired at the moment, and didn't want to fight at the moment.

Rei nodded her head in understanding to Khana. "Of course. I'll be meeting you two at the end of the stairwell... if I ever make it down." The cafe owner added the last part under her breath, letting out a small breath. This'll be a workout...

At the sight of Jaray, Rei could not help but make a slight face as his tounge flicked out towards her. "...Likewise." She said, the sight of the man almost a little too much for her. She continued down the stairs, expecting for him to follow. "I'm glad to see you came after all," she told him, memories of the old cafe comming back to her mind. He had been banished from the cafe, and yet in an attempt to see what it would be like to see him again, she had invited him along for the party, hoping maybe the past would return for at least a night, though everyone had changed so drastically.

"I hope you've been doing well?" she asked him, finding it easier to walk down the stairs now.
