Hay guys!
So Im going to be starting a firefly DM soon. Ive decided to make the RP its own story, that has little to do with the adventures of mal & co., even though they still do exist in this 'verse. Ive come up with three scenarios. Two are relevant to what we already know, and one is set after serenity, and is an original scenario. Let me know which of the three you guys like. And if you guys have any ideas of your own, please feel free to pitch in!
They cant take the sky from us!
Game Scenario 1:
It’s been a year after the war ended. Wounds are still fresh from both sides, and while the alliance won, there still exists minor skirmishes from the “all-too-loyal”, which are now known as domestic terrorists. But as they say, the stream does not stop for its past. That is where the outrider comes in. A “roadrunner” class mid-bulk freighter, she is the fastest ship in all the ‘verse. Only a handful of these ships now exist, since damn near all of ‘em were used by browncoats, and wiped out during the war. Outrider has seen plenty of battle of her own not more than a year ago, but that doesn’t mean she still don’t run strong. This is where you come in. She needs a crew of former browncoats, neutrals, and what-not to crew her. Your objective is simple. Keep the ship flying. Anything and everything else is secondary. BUT that does not mean that some of the crew who still hold ill-harbored feelings about the alliance wont want to do something about it. Its up to you.
Game Scenario 2:
Tensions run deep in the verse. The sky is divided. The smoking gun remains loaded. Views between the alliance and the newly formed “independents” have caused economical and political sanctions amongst many of the outer planets, while the core planets remain loyal to the parliament. But even with the interstellar arm-wrestling match going on, things still have to move. Things need trading, money needs spending. That’s where you come in. You are part of the crew of the roadrunner class mid-bulk freighter “outrider”. A deceitfully bulky but incredibly fast ship, she is the ideal choice for making any kind of profitable business you need, legal or not. Your job is simple. Take what job you can get, do it, get paid, keep flying, but most importantly, keep out of trouble. Security gets tighter every day, and more and more rebellious behavior crops up among the planets. All the ship needs is a crew. Alliance-loyal, or independent-born, if you crew this ship, its best you get along. You never know what might happen, and when the s**t hits the fan, all you have is each other.
Game Scenario 3:
It’s been six months after the “signal”. A broadwave went across the net about “Miranda” and the truths it was holding. Turns out the alliance had plenty to hide, and now they are hurting from it. Politcal parties have risen among the ranks of parliament. The alliance is not as united as it used to be. While these political parties keep things peaceful and official (for now), each side is clear. One side wants justice to be brought down upon those responsible for Miranda, and those keeping it secret. The other side wants to prove that the Miranda broadwave was simply an elaborate hoax, and that the news of poor terraforming on that planet holds true. And that side will do anything to bring back the old order that once existed. Since the liars exist as the majority, and most leaders of parliament side with those liars, security has been stepped up, and the media has been swarming with all kinds of new stories ranging from new “independents” attacks, to terrorist activities, to collapsing economies. What is true and what isn’t, can only be held by the witness. But, of course, life must go on. This is where you come in. You are the crew of the roadrunner class mid-bulk freighter “outrider”. A deceitfully bulky but incredibly fast ship, she is the ideal choice for making any kind of profitable business you need, legal or not. Your job is simple. Take what job you can get, do it, get paid, keep flying, but most importantly, keep out of trouble. The alliance presence is bigger than ever, and you don’t want them in your face, especially after the signal. There’s an old saying: things will get worse before they get better. Well, when things get worse, its up to all of you to keep the ship together.
