I know I'm a bit late but I just ran past this thread, but does it necessarily have to be an RPG? The thing I'm bummed out about is some games out there I'm really curious about but I can't enjoy because of my internet speed emo

Ok I don't think this one is note worthy, but TheCrims is an online Multiplayer RPG where you live a life as a criminal (i.e. gangster, pimp, hitman, etc.) It's sorta R-rated so it's not exactly for kids, it's a bit hard, I always end up in the hospital. I'm not really impressed with it, I guess it's realistic because if your run out of stamina for the day you have to do drugs to get your stamina back but you can't do too much drugs or hang around the whore houses for too long, because you end up in the hospital due to overdoesage or someone beating you up.
And to get money you have to steal and you can't just steal from anyone, you have to build up your respect to move up to the next level. Also the more you steal the more stamina it takes. neutral That's my $0.02. Tell me what you think?

That's very interesting... It's very realistic indeed; maybe too realistic. confused No wonder some kids these days become so aggressive after playing these kinds of games.

Well, recently I've been addicted to Ragnarok Online... I'm sure most people have heard of this one. I'm guessing it's one of the pioneers to MMORPG today? It was one of the most popular games before it became p2p. So anyways, it is really visually appealing, with 2d characters set in a diverse 3d environment and an enormous map to explore. I still haven't managed to explore all the cities yet, because there's so many. sweatdrop There's something like 30+ different job classes, and your character will move from 1 class to another as you progress. Overall, it's your typical fantasy RPG... Some unique features include:
- the guild wars, called the War of Emperium, in which guilds try to seize another's castle
- each character has 2 different kinds of levels: one is the base level, and the other is the job level. I think this enhances the uniqueness of every character.
- characters can get married, adopt, and have pets. Married couples and families obtain special skills. Some people spend most of their time RPGing in-game due to these features.
And that's all I can think of for now...

Another one that is worthy of noting is Second Life. My Visual Arts prof was actually the one who introduced us to it. sweatdrop But everytime I log on, the game lags like hell for me, so badly that I can't even move! So I can't give a personal review of this game, other than the stuff I've been told or read.
Every detail of your character can be customized, resembling something out of The Sims, and maybe even more so. But it's not only your character that you can make--nearly everything in the game world has been designed by its 'residents,' or users. Second Life is exactly that. For some people, this online identity really is their second life, outside of reality. Some people rely on the 'game' (or maybe I shouldn't call it that... because if you notice, there's nothing on their homepage that even mentions that) as their primary source of income. What's fascinating is that there's an actual exchange rate between Linden dollars and US dollars. People use real money to buy virtual land in this virtual world, even paying a monthly land use fee. You can design and create any kind of item or building you want, or hold your own event (game, contest, concert, etc) in-game. Anyways, check it out when you can! 3nodding

That sorta reminds me, has anyone ever tried Maple Story? I keep seeing advertisements on t.v. for Audition-Nexon.net. I haven't tried it yet due to the fact that I'm still trying to break in IMVU still. When I looked it up I saw it had an affiliation with MapleStory.

Yup, I used to play Maple Story! I didn't get very far in the game though... It's another 1 that started to lag like crazy as more people signed up (my connection's not very good either). I've tried to run my patch a couple times, but I think it's become too outdated; it won't run anymore. sweatdrop I'll probably have to re-download it, but I've been too lazy to do that. But wow, I didn't know that they even had tv commercials for online games. eek

Yeah I know it's weird, but I've seen a few commercials for Audition on Vh1, it's like they sponser one of the reality shows on there -_- but I feel your pain about the lagging with some of these games, I can't help the fact that my connection is so slow because I live in the middle of nowhere, that's why now I'm afraid to go into the new movie section of gaia. I'm afraid everyone would hate me if I lagged everything up. xd

Oh wow... so virtual online games are now invading reality shows. That makes a whole lot of sense, lol! I've been isolated from the tv world for too long. I guess I just haven't noticed those around. razz
So if we go in there lagging, it would lag everybody else? eek

...Too late! twisted Bwahahahahah!!
So that's why everyone ran away... >.>
