I know there are scads of them, but I thought it might be nice to compare notes on RJ's references to real legends and myths, as well as literary references (like the five million or so to LOTR). I've caught some, but I wonder if I've missed a few. After all, I'm not quite a literary scholar. So this is the place to post them! Or, of course, post links to sites that have them compiled already.

The whole King Artur/sword in the stone theme is the first one that comes to mind.

Yeah, that's a big one, what with Morgase, and the red hair and sluttiness references, and Caemlyn (why, how similar to Camelot!).
Next biggest being, of course, Matt and his one-eyed-hanging-man-with-floppy-hat-and-staff-with-ravens-on reference to Odin.
Then there's Birgitte Silverbow, who I'm pretty sure is tied in with the legendary Britomart, though I've not read up much on her.
Sorry, new baby has cut down on my ability to sit and compile a thoughtful post for an hour or so. So, snippets as I think of them will have to suffice.

That's cool. There's pretty much no activity in this guild anyway, i just check in from time to time.

Yeah, about that...the hell?! Anytime I find a guild that actually gives good discussion, it's dead as a doornail as soon as I post. Is it me? Do I offend? *sniffs pits to check* mrgreen
