exclaim EDIT! This is now a sticky about general OVA-ness!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright I'm finally gonna get around to updating with all the EXCITING NEW HELLSING NEWS I found out at AX!
Announcements on Hellsing!Ok, so I went to see the KOTOKO concert, and of course after waiting in line for 3 hours and finally getting seated, there were more delays and a pre-show and all sorts of stuff. So these english voice actors come on stage as announcers (Wendee Lee aka Faye from Cowboy Bebop, and Johnny Yong Bosch aka Vash from Trigun and the Black Power Ranger XD) They start talking about Geneon and then show this montage of stuff Geneon has done since 1991. Hellsing of course included. Then they start showing previews of series coming soon. Some of them looked very intriguing and interesting, and the last of them (and clearly most important and anticipated) was...yes you guessed it...
the Hellsing OVA!Oh man, the trailor looked SO awesome! It showed Alucard with his two guns, then it shows the Halconnen and manga-style Victoria kicking a** with two of them and the huge pack on her back and all, then Integra with a Hellhound figure kneeling before her...then it showed Rip Van Winkle...then Pip...then the Major...then Walter! Oh man, the crowd went more and more wild for each subsequent character they showed being a badass, it was amazing. It's called Hellsing -Ultimate Series- and under the Hellsing where it usually says "In the name of God, impure souls of the living dead shall be banished into eternal damnation, Amen." has a new tagline that's kinda weird, talking about Hermes. "The angel of Hermes is my name, eating my wings to make me tame." The trailer was also filled with tons of spoilers if you haven't read the manga, so be careful if you decide to look for a place to download it from.
Afterwards, the announcers said they had some very special guests, and welcomed KOHTA HIRANO (creator of the manga) and Yasuyuki Ueda (producer of the anime) onto the stage!! I nearly died, THE Kohta Hirano! They asked them a few questions about what inspired him to make the manga ("Some crap I made up to meet my deadline" lol). The producer was wearing an army-like jacket with little German flag things on the shoulders and explained that he was given a stupid nickname once, and that he'd rather make a new one for himself and be called Coronel =P They then announced that there would be a Hellsing panel and 3 autograph signing times over the course of the weekend! I was SO thrilled!
Unfortunately, I missed the first signing because it was after the concert and I would've had to run my a** down to the booth and get in line to wait forever to get one of their free little Hellsing tiny poster things signed. I decided to wait until the one that occured the next day. Well, I got to wait in line the next day only to find out that yesterday had so many people that they had to cut off the line and give everyone else in the line tickets for the next signing, so they were only taking ticketed people that day, and that he might be gone the next day -_- So, very bummed, I took a picture of Hirano-sensei signing, and waited for the panel that night.
The panel was awesome, we watched the trailer again and everyone saluted the producer guy and yelled "Coronel!" and he drank a beer because he loves drinking hahaha. The floor was immediately opened to questions from the audience. Some were really dumb and others were very good. Many were answered by Hirano with a simple "Deadlines!" in english, hahaha. The important things I found out were that Victoria, Alucard, and Integra will have the same japanese voice actors as before, the music will be more orchestra so probably not the same composer as the series, and that the OVA will start the story over from the beginning and follow the manga very closely with at least 13 episodes
blaugh They posed for pictures with the cosplayers after the panel was over and we got some nifty Hellsing OVA postcards on our way out. They also played a very large game of rock-paper-scissors with the whole audience to do a give-away of a couple Hellsing messenger bags. I made it to the second-to-last round >_<
The next morning I waited in a line for a while to get into the dealers room where the Hirano-signings were taking place, and once the doors opened I ran right to his booth to find out that he was indeed there, but they were only taking the first 15 people there for signings!!! I had even bought another Hellsing wallscroll so I could get it signed!! But no dice
crying I was quite upset.
Still though, lots of exciting news and I got some cool pictures out of it! Here's some links to more info I found on LJ while looking for downloads of the trailer. I haven't been able to find one yet, but if any of you do, please inform me! the song used is "Broken English" by Schaft.
