Okay...I want this to take place not within the GIT world.

This is a book that I am in the process of writing and I want to RP it out to get some ideas as how to give my characters the personalities that they need.

There are 12 Positions

Helena, Black Timber-lupine, Spy, assassin, or sneak thief------Mieke

Sam, red vulpine, Sorcerer.-----Angel

Prala, Golden Retriever-Canine, Priestess.------Me

Summary: The world is in an upheaval. 100 years ago, in the first age of war, the Anthromorphs (Humanlike animals) rose up against the humans in a war for dominance. Now, in the second age, the humans are trying to regain their world from the ones they used to oppress. It’s up to 12 young heroes to try and save their dying world. But they have a traitor in their midst. Will they restore peace to their world or will they fail and die as so many others did before them?

A/N: Okay, this story has Anthromorphs in it. In case you don’t know what they are, here’s a brief rundown. Do you remember the Robin Hood movie that Disney did? Well, those are Anthromorphs. Disney is famous for animals that have human attributes. Almost all of their cartoons are like that: Robin Hood, Chicken Little, Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Goof Troop, and so on. Mine are like that…only sexier. They look like animals that stand on their hind legs, have hands, talk, and are very intelligent. Anthromorphs also include Scalies and any other type of creature like that. An insect like a butterfly will have the butterfly wings, Humanoid body, the big insect eyes, featureless face four legs, two arms and antennae. Other insects will vary only slightly from this description. A Delphine or other variation has a dolphin or whale head including the snout, also has two arms, two legs and the tail, also with a humanoid body.
If you really need to see what I’m talking about go to http://fchan.hentaiplanet.net and click the “Clean” thread. (But that site is down right now)

Half-breeds on the other paw look human except for the ears and the tail. If they are Avian they have wings on their backs like angels and have a slight beak, and their hair is kinda like feathers. If they are insectoid they have insect wings, antennae, and slightly larger eyes, and have a poison stinger on their tail bone, if they are a poisonous species. If they are Delphine; they have the Delphine tail, slightly rubbery skin, a somewhat large nose, and can echolocate. A Scalie, like a lizard or Dragon, will have some scales and the lizard tail…if it is draconian then it will also have wings and the ability to fly.

Okay. You got all that?

Good. The next post is the prologue.

This story doesn't have to go the same as the Story. I need fresh Ideas though. So PM me or post who you want to be.

The pairings I created in the story will stay the same. 3nodding .
Prala and Neil
Sara and Savannah
Nia and Nicholas
Hugo and Paul
Helena and Henry
Sam and Phillipa

Prologue

There was a deep, booming sound that echoed through the forest making the sentry perk his ears up.

The sentry was a feline. The fur on his muzzle was white but the rest of his fur was black. He wore a camouflage jumpsuit with heavy, black combat boots and an ammunitions belt over his shoulder. He held a camouflage Machine gun loosely in his hands, with the strap taut over his shoulder. His fluffy feline tail swished from side to side, and his golden eyes reflected the light of the floodlights mounted on the gate. The amber studs in his ears marked him as a Teacher.

He turned to his Vulpine partner, who was dressed much the same, and said sharply, “Private, did you hear that noise?” his voice was a clear baritone.

“Yes Sir,” She replied, “Do you want to alert the Colonel?”

“No.” He said “We can take care of it.” He turned away from her and looked into the trees. Apart from a slight breeze there was nothing that stirred the trees, and he relaxed a fraction of an inch. His nose detected nothing as well, and he relaxed even further.

“Sir?” His partner’s melodic voice reached his ears and he tensed up all over again.

“What?” He growled.

“What are we waiting for?” She sounded confused but ready to hear what this mission would be.

The old sentry’s heart was in his throat, he knew that they were bait for an indiscriminate killer that needed to be dealt with, but he didn’t have the heart to tell her instead he said, “We are guarding the gate of the School. That’s all Private.”

“Yessir Major.” She snapped to a salute.

He turned away again, when he heard a mournful echo through the forest. “Lupines…” He muttered, “Making to much damn noise on a night like tonight.” He shivered at the sound of more howls.

An acrid scent then reached his nose along with the coppery scent of blood. He turned to look in the direction of the smell and flinched. He convulsively gripped the trigger guard of the gun.

His partner lay in a pool of blood that was obviously hers. The gaping hole in her throat gave mute testament to the fact. He scanned his eyes over the scene, looking for clues yet finding none.

He set the Machine gun aside and pulled a pistol from his hip and a walkie talkie from one of his pockets. He pointed the pistol at the woods surrounding the enclave and then he pressed the button on the walkie talkie, “He’s here.” He said quietly.

The walkie talkie crackled to life, “We hear you Major…Ten-four.”

The Major stood there quiet for a minute and then relaxed the grip on his gun.

The killer, quiet as the death he delivered, crept out of the brush and ripped out the old sentry’s throat.

As the killer watched the creature’s lifeblood drain out of its body, he, with the slow deliberateness of a professional assassin, crushed the walkie talkie.

“The second age of war has begun.” He said in a guttural voice, “And this time, we will win.” He wiped off his bloody hands on his pants and groaned in frustration as he heard the sounds of hunter’s approaching from all sides. “Oh s**t.” He muttered, peering into the gloom.

He was surrounded. Escape was impossible.

Alright. Prologue stays the same. If you have any ideas corrections or otherwise...lemme know in a PM.

Chapter 1: The Gathering

“Why are we here?” A young woman whispered to her companion in a rich throaty voice.

“I want to see the humans.” The young man said in a nasal voice as he flicked his marbled orange and white ears.

“You're a silly feline, Neil.” She said laughing softly.

“Yeah well…” he sputtered, “You are a silly canine, Prala.”

She chuckled as she wagged her bushy tail, “Look at us fighting…”

“Like cats and dogs…” He snickered.

The pair moved past a row of boxes and into a beam of light.

Neil turned to make an inane comment to Prala and caught his breath. Her golden fur gleamed with an unearthly light. She shone with heavenly beauty, and looked every inch the priestess. Her emerald stud earrings glowed and her black jumpsuit only enhanced her beauty. She sighed and gave him an amused look.

“Enjoying the scenery?” She asked as her tongue lolled out in a canine grin.

“You’re beautiful!” He blurted as he stared into her chocolate brown eyes.

“So you’ve said before.” She said still grinning. Then she fidgeted. “This is ridiculous.” She said pulling at the jumpsuit. “I’m a canine. We are not designed for sneaking.” She pouted cutely.

“Well fine.” Neil stubbornly set his jaw. “I'm going.”

“Who’s going to keep your kitty butt out of trouble if I leave now?” Prala sighed.

“I'll just get into trouble by myself.” He said, flashing his fangs in an impish grin.

Prala sighed, “Let’s keep moving.”

They slipped back into the darkness and soon came upon a brightly lit white room. The room was plain white with nothing occupying the space, except a cell in the wall and two canine guards armed to the teeth with assorted weapons.

Standing on opposite sides of the doorframe they peered into the room and out just as quickly.

“Look!” Neil exclaimed, “Guard dogs!”

Prala glared daggers. “Do something that will distract the guards,” she said shortly

“Why should I do it?” Neil protested, “I'm the mercenary, you're the
Priestess. Do something…priestessy.”

“I am going to strangle you. You are supposed to be twenty-one, not three.” She growled. She concentrated and drew her power up from within her. “Piry.” She whispered.

“They’re still standing.” Neil said pointing.

“Trust me.” Prala said, “They’re asleep, and until I let them go they’ll stay that way.”

“Well, cool!” Neil said practically skipping into the room. “Let’s go look now!” He ran up to the cell.

Prala rolled her eyes and followed him.

Inside of the cell were four pale humans. They each wore collars of steel, tattered rags and mutinous looks on their faces.

Neil put on a bright smile and said, “I've never seen a real live human before!” He exclaimed. “I have seen dead ones though.” The he brightened, “This is so cool. My name is Neil.”

“And mine is Prala.” She said coming closer, as she rolled her eyes at her silly cat companion. Why did she choose him to be her mate again? Oh, that’s right, his sense of humor.

One of them spat on the floor. “If you come any closer I'll rip your face off.”

“They can talk?” Prala asked, turning to her mate.

“Ayup.” He said grinning.

“Why are you here?” She asked them.

“Because we have launched attacks against your terrorist regime.” The young man growled.

Neil stared. “Terrorist regime?” He asked. “All we did was keep you from destroying our species!”

“Oh really.” The boy growled. “That’s what they told you? Bullshit.”

“Oh no, you little worm.” Prala growled, “You must have forgotten. Our memories last through generations.” She bared her teeth menacingly; “I was 15 when my parents’ memory of their grandparents passed to me. My great-grandparents were murdered before my grandparents’ eyes and then skinned. What has happened to you is only justice.” She turned and stalked away so that the prisoners would not see the tears in her eyes.
Neil stared at her, surprised at her outburst. He laid his ears back and hissed briefly at the humans then ran after his mate.

He caught up with her just as she reached the door to the female dormitories. He put his arms around her and began to purr. She lifted her head to the sky and howled with grief.

“I miss them so much!” She sobbed as she turned around and buried her head in his chest.

He patted her head and scratched her ears. “Hush darling.” He said soothingly, “You will see them one day.”

“I know.” She whimpered. “But it’s just so hard…it’s been so many years since they died, and five since I received the memory, but I still wake up with nightmares of them reaching out to me, begging for my help…with only the fur on their faces left…” She shuddered and wiggled deeper into his arms.

He held her close and whispered, “Do you want to go to the bunker?”

She looked at him and then her tongue lolled out in a weak grin. “Will you make me forget?”

“With all the skills I posses.”

Morning came and sunlight shone on Prala’s uncovered face. She turned her head to the side and opened her eyes. She yawned and then licked the side of Neil’s face. When he didn’t wake up she put her nose in her ear and began to snuffle.

He woke with a gasp and stared at her with an affronted look on his face. Then he sniffed disdainfully and yawned. “That was uncalled for.” He said, drooping his ears in a pout.

“That was for you falling asleep without purring me to sleep.” She blushed. “I love you dearly but…” She shrugged, “That’s the way it works. If you don’t want to get woken up like that, you had better purr me to sleep.”

He yawned in her face again, “If you didn’t insist on having sex more than twice in a row, then I wouldn’t fall asleep.”

“If you had more stamina this wouldn’t be a problem.” She retorted.

He meowed pathetically, “I’m just a poor simple feline. You can’t expect this of me.”

She snorted incredulously, “Yeah and I’m a b***h, so what?”

He chuckled and stuck his nose in her ear and began to purr. “Do you want to go back to sleep then?”

“No,” she said stretching, “we have to go to class.”

Several hours later Prala sat down at the lunch table with her friends.

“I still don’t understand why girls and guys have to be separated.” Helena grumbled.

Phillipa and Prala murmured their assent.

“I don’t have a problem with it.” Savanna said, sitting down.

“That’s because you’re a lesbian.” Prala said told the half Canine, as Savanna watched Prala take a swig of her Dr. Pepper.

“That’s definitely gonna make a difference.” Savanna smiled.

“I hate being half human.” Phillipa muttered. “I wish I was full feline, like Neil.” She pulled a mirror out of her purse and stared at her human face. “I feel so naked with just ears and a tail. Looking at most of the people around me reminds me of how inferior I look. And my fur is white. It’s not even a proper color.”

Savanna looked at the girl incredulously. “At least you have a mate.”

“And I’m full Lupine, and still have no mate.” Helena said laughing. “I wish my fur wasn’t black…I wish it was grey. Black is the sign of an omega wolf.”

Phillipa grimaced. “It’s just…”

“It’s nothing.” Savanna said shortly. “You just wanna feel sorry for yourself. We do the same things at different points of time on our days but we don’t expect sympathy. Right girls?” Savanna turned to the other at the table.

“Right.” The others chorused.

Phillipa looked sheepish, “I was acting a bit silly, wasn’t I.”

“More than a bit dear.” Helena said laying a fond hand on her shoulder.

“Sorry.”

“Don’t apologize.” Savanna said, “I had too much fun with that. It helps
me blow off steam. Act as selfish as you want and complain all you want. I need someone to sharpen my wit on.” She was grinning and her brown eyes sparkled.

“Now, Prala,” Helena said, “Down to serious business. Where were you last night?”

Prala grinned, “I’ll never tell.” She said in a singsong voice.

“You…and Neil…” Phillipa gaped.

Helena smiled, in a motherly sort of way, “You’re officially mated now. Did you go to the bunker?”

Prala grinned, “Where else?”

“That’s gong to get you into trouble one day.” Savanna said shaking her head.

“Oh well,” Prala shrugged. “What is for lunch today?”
“Fish, Salad, Hamburger, or...” Phillipa wrinkled her nose, “Tofu.”

The rest of the girls all wrinkled their noses.

“I think I’ll get a hamburger. A rare Hamburger.” Prala licked her muzzle, and her eyes had a predatory glint to them.

“I want the fish.” Phillipa’s eyes grew dreamy.

Savanna and Helena looked at each other and began to laugh.

“You’re positively glowing Neil.” A Vulpine said.

“And for a very good reason.” He said smugly.

“Well?” A half Lupine asked

“Sam can figure out why,” He said nodding to the Vulpine, “I have now…”
he paused. “Are you going to eat that Hugo?” He asked the half Vulpine, pointing to Hugo’s fries.

“Get on with the story.” The half Lupine’s face was flushed.

Neil chuckled, “Alright Nicholas. I am now officially mated.”

Nicholas’s eyes widened.

“With Prala?” Hugo asked, “I don’t know what you see in her.”

“That’s because you’re a ******** f**.” A deep voice rumbled above them.

“You had better leave, you mountain of hamburger.” Neil stood up to face the Taurine.

The bull laughed, “Lookie here, its a little faggy boy, here to defend his little faggy friends.”

Neil’s eyes flashed, but then a sly grin grew on his face. “I just got mated last night.”

“To who?” The bull laughed, “The f** over there?”

Neil’s smirk widened, “No…to Prala.”

The Bull’s eyes widened and he snorted. “Prala? Why would she have anything to do with you?”

“In case you haven’t noticed Toro, they’ve been walking out for five years now, and they’ve known each other since birth.” Sam said, “It was bound to happen eventually. I have never seen two people so completely in love.”

Toro roared in disbelief, “You’re no better than a human!!! You must have forced her; she would never consent to be mated to you!!” He swung his fist at Neil’s head and roared in anger.

Neil ducked the blow and scrambled to the side.

The mess hall had gone completely quiet and all of the students stood in a circle around the two combatants.

Neil turned to Sam and snapped, “I need a weapon,” as he dodged yet another fist.

There was a shimmer and a cudgel appeared in Neil’s left hand. He gave a vicious grin, and began to swing.

He pummeled the bull with his small club, and received a blow to his stomach when he wasn’t paying attention. His breath whooshed out of his body and he staggered backwards. He straightened just in time to see another fist flying toward his face. He darted underneath the hand and
arm toward the bull’s unprotected backside.

There was a slow murmur building in the crowd, which soon became a roar. They were chanting the names of the two combatants. There were shouts coming from all over giving helpful, or not so helpful, hints about the whereabouts of the combatants. Neil grew annoyed at the shouts and tried to block them out.

When Toro swung again, Neil rapped him on the head with his cudgel, and then Neil took his right hand and dug his claws into the taurine’s side. Toro roared in pain as three-inch long razor sharp claws penetrated his side. Neil grinned as Toro staggered backwards.

The grin faded, and a look of horror swept his face when he saw his tail in the fist of the bull. Toro snatched Neil’s tail and lowed in triumph. Neil instinctively curled around his own body and began to claw and bite the hand holding him. Toro howled in pain and released the Feline.
Neil licked his lips as he landed on his feet and said, “I’ve always found the dumb cows to be delicious, but your blood is better.”

Toro’s leg came up in a massive kick but was frozen in midair. Neil turned to congratulate Sam on immobilizing Toro, but he also found that he could not move.

“Alright children…” One of the teachers came forward.

Neil would have hung his head in shame, had he been able to do so. The teacher pushed through the crowd and stared at the two combatants. The he suddenly began to laugh. He clapped his hands to release them and said, “I was going to test your fighting capabilities in class today, but this works just fine. You may continue.”

“Yes Professor Montague.” The two boys chorused before turning to face each other yet again.

“What do you work best with Neil?” Professor Montague asked.

“I work best with my bokken sir.”

The Professor snapped his fingers and handed the conjured bokken to Neil. “Use it well my boy. And what about you Toro? What do you work with?” The professor asked.

“Just my fists sir.” Toro said quietly.

“Perfect.” The professor commented, “One always does work best with ones own equipment. You may begin boys.” Professor Montague waved his hand.

Neil gripped the shaft of the blade in his hands. He grinned ferociously and beckoned the Taurine with one hand, before returning it to the bokken.
Toro looked at the feline, suddenly wary. His heart raced and he felt himself slowing down. ‘I need to eat.’ He thought to himself, but he couldn’t let himself lose. He just had to show this kitten which of them Prala wanted most. He scraped his hooves lightly on the stone floor. All he needed was one well-placed kick…and it would be all over.

Neil stared at Toro as the bull started shifting, and he realized with a startled jolt, that the Taurine was sharpening his hooves. He grew tense and then he let the tension flow out of his body as the sweat from the previous fight began to dry. Adrenaline was pumping through his system as he waited for Toro to strike. He saw the slight tightening of Toro’s eyes and watched as the bull shifted his weight to the left a little.

Toro lunged to the left and straight into the blade of Neil’s bokken. He scrambled to a stop and grabbed the tip of the weapon and attempted to break it.

“Rule number one,” Neil laughed, “always used enchanted weapons.” Neil coiled and dashed around the startled Taurine as he gripped the smooth wood of the bokken in his hands “Rule number two: Always watch your opponent.” He said from behind Toro as the bull spun around, startled.

“Rule number three,” Professor Montague said, “No showing off.”

“I’m not showing off Professor.” Neil protested as he dodged yet another fist, “I’m teaching.”

Professor Montague laughed at that.

Toro stood still as the stupid cat turned to face the teacher, “Rule number four,” he rumbled, “Never trust your opponent.”

Neil turned to face him, “What?” and barely avoided the massive hoof flying his way. “Good point.” He said as he scampered to the side, his claws scrabbling on the stone surface. The sweat was running off of Toro and him in rivulets. He began to notice the bull’s punches and reaction time slowing down

He took the opportunity to dash around Toro and brought his bokken down square on the taurine’s head. Toro’s eyes glazed over and he slumped to the floor.

Neil panted harshly and fell to his knees as he felt the adrenaline drain from his system. He watched the sweat drip from his face and onto the floor before looking up at the startled crowd and realizing that he had taken down Toro. He had just taken down the most muscular, massive, and certainly the strongest, of the Taurines. He would be a hero…right after he got some sleep…

“Neil! Neil!” Hugo rushed to his side and shook him gently.

Sam, Hugo, and Nicholas then lifted his unconscious body and Sam conjured a stretcher. The two other boys laid Neil upon the cold metal of the stretcher, and turned helplessly to the Equine Professor.

“Take him to the Hospital Wing boys.” Montague waved them on.

Neil regained consciousness to the sound of someone crying. “Prala?” He mumbled.

Her head shot up and stared at him incredulously. “Oh baby!!!” She cried, “I thought that you were gone!”

“She hasn’t left your side the whole time that you were here.” The Delphine nurse said.

“How long have I been out of it?” He asked groggily.

“For a few days.” The nurse replied.

He looked over at the bed next to his and saw a pieridine lying comatose.

“What happened to her?” He asked

“Someone showed her a pinned butterfly collection. She’ll be alright soon.” The Nurse said in a disgusted voice.

“So, when can I leave?” He asked propping himself up onto his elbows.

“You can leave when you can get up and walk around. I’m not letting you leave my sight until you are better.” She shook her head, “I took some X-rays but I’m going to try some sonar to check your tail. Your spine got jarred quite a bit when Toro grabbed you, but you’ll be fine in a few days.”

Some Music began to float through a door to the left of them… “So long and thanks for all the fish…” The Nurse let out a series of aggravated clicks. “My calf is obsessed with a Human named Douglas Adams. She has read all of his ‘Hitchhiker’ books, and she drives me crazy with the movie they made after he died.” She said apologetically.

“The song that she watches constantly shows dolphins, so of course she would be.” Prala said quietly.

“You’ve seen it?” The Nurse asked in a startled voice.

“Yes, my sister watched it.” Prala said turning her attention back to her mate, “Babe when do you think that you will be out of here?”

Neil grabbed hold of Prala’s hand and chuckled, “Well love, I guess I’ll be here for a while, considering that I cannot feel my feet.”

She squeezed his hand briefly before letting it go. “I’ll come and see you after classes tomorrow.” She kissed his cheek, “Be well.” And she left.
She walked alone in a silent rage. ‘I told Toro that I wasn’t interested in him. Why did he have to get into an argument with Neil? And Neil, why did he have to provoke that great big bully!’ She kept on walking until she ran into something tall, muscular, and definitely male. She looked up and cried out in horror. It was Toro.

“Prala? He said gently, “Are you okay? I didn’t mean to frighten you.” His voice was gentle.

“Toro,” She backed up a step, “I’ve told you; I don’t love you. I’m sorry but I don’t.”

He backed up a little. “I thought you did…” he seemed shocked, “You were always kind to me, you’ve kissed me and you said you love me.”
“I love you as a friend, Toro.” She said gently. “I’m sorry if you thought it was anything more than that.” She gave him a sad look and brushed by him.

Toro continued on to the infirmary and knocked quietly on the door. The Nurse opened it and said, “What do you need.”

“I wanted to apologize to Neil.” He said slowly, “I said some things that were out of line.”

The nurse looked at him suspiciously. “Alright.” She said finally.

Toro walked over the Neil’s bedside and sat down. “I know that you are probably asleep right now.” He said quietly. “But I just wanted to tell you that I was sorry. I said some things that I shouldn’t have and I wanted to apologize. You don’t have to forgive me.” He said matter-of-factly, “I realized that hurting you hurt Prala…and that is something that I never intended to do. Take care of her.”

“I am awake.” Neil said sitting up, “And I understand where you are coming from...” Neil laid his ears back, “I forgive you for hurting me, but I don’t forgive you for hurting her.” He lay back down, “Now go away…I’m sleepy.”

Toro nodded, and stood up. “I agree.” And he left, leaving the nurse more that a little stunned.

When Prala got to her rooms she almost collapsed with relief. She knocked on the door and Helena opened it and ushered her inside.

“We’ve got a problem.” Helena said.

“And what would that be?” Prala asked dryly.

Helena steered her into the main room and pointed to the human on the bed. “That is the problem. We found him wandering around and…we didn’t want him to get hurt.”

Prala looked at the human on the bed and said, “You!!!” Her eyes were ablaze with fury.

He looked up at her and smirked, “Well if it isn’t the puppy from last night.”
She descended on him like a fury and tied him with her power. “How did you escape?”

“I told you,” he said still smirking, “I’m a shapeshifter. I changed into a flea and hitched a ride on one of the guards. After that it was easy enough to get here.”

“Why didn’t you do that before?” Prala asked tearing at her words the way an animal tears at meat on a bone.

“I didn’t leave earlier because the time was not right.” He said smugly. “I was waiting for someone like that feline and his curiosity. After I left my cell I followed your scent and found her.” He pointed at Helena.

Helena stared at him, “What do you want with us?”

“All I want is to be set free. I want to be free to return to the wolf pack that raised me, and free my friends.”

Helena looked at him fondly, “Well, then I’ll let you go.”

Prala whirled around, “You can’t do that! He‘s going to kill more people! That’s what he was in there for!”

“But his friends need him.” Helena protested. “We can’t just turn him back into the Bloodhounds when his friends need him.”

“He’s killed people like us.” Prala said wearily. “But whatever you want Helena. I don’t trust you.” Prala said bluntly to him, “So, we’ll all go.” She gave Helena a significant look. “But not until Neil can leave with us. Change yourself into a female Lupine and pretend to have just applied. We will request that you stay here with us.”

“Won’t they smell him?” Helena asked.

“No,” The human said, “My scent changes with the form. They will be looking for a human scent, not a wolfish scent.”

“What’s your name?” Helena asked.

“My name is Henry.”

The week went by faster than she had expected and she snuck back down into the guarded room once more. She put the guards to sleep the same way as the last time.

“Look,” she said, “I don’t want to do this…but I will, for my best friend.” She told them. “Unlock.” She told the door. The gate opened and she ushered them out and put a concealing spell over them. “Follow me.”
She took them out of the gates of the school and to her bunker. The inside of the bunker looked like a house. It had four bedrooms, a living room, a dining room and a kitchen. She sent the three humans into the living room and went into the kitchen.

She looked around and finally pulled a loaf of bread off of the shelf and made ham and cheese sandwiches for the humans. She carried the sandwiches into the living room and set the tray on the table, and then went back into the kitchen to get three glasses of water, which she also set on the table.

The humans looked at her suspiciously.

“Eat it or starve.”

“What is it?” The male with the green collar asked.

“Ham.” Prala said, “From a pig. Livestock, not Anthro.” She said seeing
their shocked faces.

A knock on the door interrupted her and she quickly crossed to the door.
“Who knocks?” She asked, beginning the code that would tell her if the person at the door was Neil.

“I am one that would have your love.” The reply came through the door.
“Neil!” She exclaimed and threw the door open to the faces of her friends and comrades, “Come in.” She watched the human Henry suspiciously and growled a little as he passed.

“They’re in the living room eating.” She looked at Henry, “You have already eaten.” She said matter-of-factly.

He looked startled, “How…”

“I could smell the meat on your breath.” She explained disdainfully.

She led everyone into the living room and watched fondly as her friends got comfortable. She turned to the humans and asked, “Why were you really there?” She pointed to the male with the green collar.

“I am Paul.” He began, “Great Lady I want to thank you for getting us out of that Hell. We were starved, beaten, and treated worse than dirt.” He sighed, “I was completely innocent of the charges laid against me. I am only a Seer. The only time I used my powers was to tell whether the enemy was close by. I wasn’t as lucky the last time. I’ve been in there for a year, Lords and Ladies. I was only seventeen when I was captured and just beginning to live on my own. Away from my own people who reviled me because I love men and don’t fit in with their standards.” He ended his narrative bitterly.

“Some of those words were very archaic.” Sam muttered.

Hugo looked curiously at the human and started to say something, but stopped, and settled with the curious glance.

“Henry…” Prala said, “Tell us why you were in there.”

“Why I was in that cell?” He asked in an amused tone. “Well, let’s see here: I’ve hated your filthy stinking race all of my life, because my whole family was slaughtered right before my eyes when I was a small child. I found out early on that I was able take the form of any animal I came across. At first, I tried the form of an Eagle. They are majestic, but they don’t have much of a brain, and since I was five years old, I was only a fledgling by their terms.”

He sighed, “What I didn’t realize was that instead of being parallel, our ages were proportional instead. I wanted so badly to be full-grown! The next form that I tried to change into was the form of a cat, but, as I told you, I was still only a kitten because of my age. I even tried to take the form of a Canine Anthromorph, but my body rejected that.”

He gazed in front of him with eyes that weren’t seeing the present day, but were locked into his memories. “Then I remembered what I had learned about wolves. They were fierce protectors that would pick up and take care of a lost pup. I heard a wolf pack approaching, and I turned into a pup. The fed, made me a part of the pack, and loved me. They became my family. After a while, I learned to hunt…but I did not hunt four-legged prey. I hunted the two-legged kind.”

There were gasps around him but he did not stop, “Yes,” He said harshly, “I hunted the bastards that killed my family. I even hunted down everyone that had ever taken down a human in ‘sport.’ I hated the people who would orphan someone at a young age or rape a human girl on a dare. This life hasn’t been kind to me. I had to survive anyway I could.”
He took a sip of water, and continued, “And I did so for ten years. I hunted them down and ripped their throats out. But once when I changed back into a human, they caught me. I’ve been in that cell for two years. I was killing a man who I had watched rape a friend of mine, who came not to far from here. I loved her like a sister, and the b*****d raped her and then he killed her. And as if that wasn’t enough, he just left her body there to rot in the sun, but not before defiling it even more than it already was.”

The room was silent, then, with a low cry, Helena threw her arms around him and sobbed. “I want to make it right.” She said, “What can I do?”

He looked at her and his face softened. “Just don’t ever betray me.”

“Oh beautiful one!” Nicholas exclaimed, arresting the attention of everyone and grabbing the hand of the girl with the purple collar. “You poor delicate flower, oh, what is your name?”

“Nia.” The girl with the purple collar said quietly.

“What a beautiful name!” He said tears running down his face. “I will be your protector and…” Prala hit him with a book. “Leave her alone, you lecherous Monk!” She said sharply.

“It’s okay.” Nia giggled, “I think he’s funny and handsome.”

“She thinks I’m handsome!!!” He stood up in a pose of victory, with more tears streaming down his face.

Nia giggled some more. Then she suddenly looked shy, “Can I pet your ears?” She asked quietly.

“Oh no.” Hugo moaned.

Nicholas grinned, “Why of course.” He said twitching the aforementioned body parts.

Nia giggled and reached out a hand. She began to scratch his ears very lightly and all of the sudden he broke out in a howl. Everyone covered their ears and grimaced.
“Nia please stop.” Prala whispered in her ear.

Nia did as she was told.

“Now tell us where you are from beautiful angel!” Nicholas said exuberantly.

“It’s nothing special. Soldiers took me from my home two weeks ago. That’s it.” She shrugged.

“Well, I’ll protect you from here on out!!!” He grinned, standing up, “I’ll be…Nicholas…The Protector!!!”

“Did we really have to bring him?” Prala asked Neil.

“Yes.” Neil said with a grin, “Because you should always bring protection.”

There was a collective groan around the room.
“Are we going to have to put up with that the whole time? Or can I shove my foot up his rear every time he makes a pun?” Hugo said grumpily.

“You’re just jealous because your sole holds no humor.” Neil said sticking his tongue out at the half-Vulpine.

Nicholas grinned, “Yes what Prala has accomplished with these humans is no mere feet.”

There was another groan.

Savanna was kneeling by the girl with the red collar on and said, “Well, why don’t you tell us where you are from and what happened to you?”

“My name is Sara.” She said slowly. “I too am innocent. I was taken from my home when I was thirteen. The soldiers that took me raped me repeatedly and left me pregnant. I was sent to the spice fields to work for two years. The baby miscarried… I…I worked for a brothel after that for another two years, and then I tried to run away. But they found me and they locked me up. I’ve been in there for about a year.”

Savanna looked at the Sara with tears in her eyes. “I will always be by your side. You need not worry when I am around. I won’t let anyone hurt you ever again,” Savanna said fiercely.

Prala yawned. “How about we all get some sleep and we decide what we’re gonna do tomorrow. It’s really late and we’re all really sleepy, so off to bed! March!!” She ushered Helena, Phillipa, and Nia into one room, while taking the other two girls with her. Neil showed Sam, Henry, and Nicholas to their room and then took Hugo and Paul with him.

Prala and Neil told their respective roomies that they, as Hostess and Host,
would be sleeping on the floor.

Prala began to walk back into the kitchen for a late night snack.

Apparently, her lover had had the same idea too. Although, it didn’t appear that he was hungry, well for food anyway.

“Hey love.” He said leaning in the doorframe.

She gasped and clutched at her chest. “Holy Kaman!!! Don’t do that! You know I hate it when you sneak up on me.” She whispered furiously.

“Then what about this?” He asked rushing in and kissing her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and lapped at her lips with his tongue.

“Oh.” She said weakly and he pushed her up against the wall. “It’s been a week.” He growled as he ground his hips into hers.

“We shouldn’t be doing this now.” She whispered into his mouth.

“And why not?”

“Because, I can smell people watching us.” She giggled and then raised her voice, “Sam and Phillipa, I know you’re there.”

There was the sound of muffled laughter and feet beating a hasty retreat.
She grabbed Neil’s hand and led him into the den. She pushed him down on the couch and looked at him with half-lidded eyes filled with lust. “Now, where were we?” She asked sitting on his lap.

“Oh, I think I know.” He said wrapping one arm around her waist and reaching for her with the other.

Phillipa looked at Sam and giggled. “What do they remind you of, dear?”

“They remind me of us” He grabbed her hands and kissed her softly. “Let’s go to bed.” He said and conjured a recliner for them to snuggle in.

“I love you.” He whispered.

“I love you too.” And entwined together, they fell into a deep sleep.

“Why do your eyes follow me everywhere I go?” Paul asked the half-vulpine sitting in the bed beside him.

“I do not know.” Hugo said quietly, turning his head to look at the human, “You intrigued me from the first moment I saw you.

“And why do I intrigue you,” Paul said in an even quieter voice. “Is it because I’m a human?”

“No.” Hugo shook his head, as he leaned closer and closer to the human “You intrigue me…because…I…” and he kissed Paul.

It was a tender kiss. If there was any fire in it, it was the flame of a candle.

They separated slowly and looked at each other, and then their lips crashed together in a frenzy of passion, and lust. They met in a flurry of teeth, tongue, and lips. Their passions nearly threatened to consume them, like a fiery blaze.

Paul pulled away from Hugo, gasping for breath. “I think we should sleep.” He said quietly, as he willed away the taste of the half-breed before him.

“You’re probably right.” Hugo said, slipping underneath the covers. This was so confusing to him…why did he feel attracted to this human?

Savanna watched over the human who slept in the bed beside her. ‘She looks so soft.’ The Half canine thought to herself, brushing Sara’s hair out of her face.

Sara stirred slightly and sighed. She grabbed Savanna’s hand and curled up around the canine’s arm.

Savanna smiled and put her other arm around the girl and fell asleep.

The sun was shining through the window as it fell on Prala’s face. She yawned and snuggled closer to Neil.

“WAKE UP!”

She swung her fist in the direction of the sound.

“OUCH!! WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR?” It was Sam.

She grinned, “For yelling at me.”

“You didn’t have to hit me.” He groused.

She blinked sleepily, and shook Neil gently. “Wake up sleepy-head.” She said kissing him softly.

“Ew.” Sam said, wrinkling his nose.

“So says the peeping tom.” Prala laughed. The she gave Sam a sly grin and began to massage her lover’s lap.

“Jeez, get a room!”

She kissed Neil deeply and caressed him until she saw Sam run out of the room holding his stomach.

She giggled and kissed him again. “Good morning sleepyhead.”

He rolled over and tried to go back to sleep.

She sighed and poked him in the side. “Wake up. Or…” her face split into an evil grin, and she whispered in his ear.

He was up in a flash, “You wouldn’t!” His voice came out in the form of a strangled squeak.

“I would.” She affirmed. “Now let’s go cook breakfast for our guests.” She said getting up and stretching.

Sara awoke to the feeling of lips on hers. She was swamped with heat, and she let out a small noise when the lips left hers.

She opened her eyes and looked over at where Savanna was trying to hide her blushing face.

Sara smiled a little giddily and began to blush too. “Is that the way you wake up all your bedmates,” she teased “or am I just a special case?”

“I think that you are remarkable well after the ordeal you’ve been through.” Prala said coming to the door. Both girls started guiltily and Prala smiled again, “Breakfast is ready.” And she left to wake up Helena.

Neil watched Paul and Hugo make out for a bit before he coughed loudly and relayed the same message before he went to wake up Henry.

They both met in the living room and Neil blurted, “I can’t find him!”

“I can’t find Helena either.” Prala said worried. “Let’s go find them while our guests are busy eating.”

“I’ll go and check the paths leading to the school.” Neil offered.

“Good.” Prala said distractedly, “I’ll take the lake to the south.”

Helena looked at the human walking beside her. She couldn’t believe that someone as beautiful as he could hold such a withered heart.

“Why are you looking at me?” He asked turning to the clear waters of the lake.

“I want to know why someone as handsome as you has found no…” Then she blushed and looked away.

“Has found no mate?” He finished, “Because I didn’t want to father a race of half human monsters with a lady wolf.”

She looked at him, scandalized, “What about…”

“You are a genetic mistake.” He interrupted. “At least that’s what I have been told. A long time ago humans would use genetics to make other people look like animals. The experiments were for mere cosmetic reasons. But this was only done by a select few. The rest of humanity scorned them and cast them out. Their children looked as they did and so did their grandchildren, and so on. They began stockpiling weapons, so that they could overthrow the human government and take the world for their own. The first rebellion was crushed. It was brutal, only a few of them survived. They repopulated very quickly however and waited even longer before attacking.” He sighed heavily, “This time they were successful. They rose up and displaced the humans in a single bloody war. That was the First Age. They were fair at first,” He said quietly, “Humans were given all of the same rights, no one was mistreated, but then the Anthros grew power hungry, just like the humans they displaced.”

Helen gaped, she had heard it all before, of course, but never had she heard of humans admitting that they were the ones in the wrong.

“Now we’ve become the things that we opposed.” Prala’s voice was horrorstruck.

Henry and Helena jumped.

Prala looked at Henry as if she were seeing him in a whole new light. Then she grimaced, “This is like a bad Soap Opera. I still don’t trust you.” She shook her finger at him, “But I do respect you a little more now.” She looked at the two of them closely, “We need to go back now…we have to discuss what we are going to do.”

Prala led the two back to the hut and told Neil, “I found them.” before ushering the three inside.

She looked around her carefully, but sighed and followed them in.

She reached the dining room just as she heard Neil begin to ask the one question that needed answering.

“What do we do now?” He asked laying his hands on the table.

“We need to find some way to end this stupid war.” Hugo said bitterly.

“I want to go home and let my family know that I am okay.” Sara said.

“We all need traveling clothes if we are going to do that.” Nia said quietly.

“Tell them what you told me out at the lake.” Helena said to Henry.

Henry sighed and once again began to explain the history.

“So, our ancestors were a mistake…” Neil mused. “That restores my faith in the order of the universe then.” He laughed.

There was a strangled cry from one end of the table. Everyone turned his or her heads to look at Paul, whose eyes had glazed over. “There are soldiers, coming this way! We have to go now! They saw Helena and Henry at the lake.”

Neil began shouting orders, “Get the packs from the store room, get whatever food you can carry and put it in them!” He barked, “We need to get whatever clothing we can carry as well. Leave all of the things that you wouldn’t die without here. MOVE!!”

Everyone rushed around in a flurry of activity.

“Where are we going?” Prala asked her mate.

“I don’t know.” He answered. “All I know is that we are running, and probably will be doing so for a long time.”

“I told you your bunker would get you into trouble.” Savanna said as she wrestled a pack onto her back.

“So, that’s it?” she asked Neil. “We run?”

“We run.”
