What do you think about Tobi? Random Akatsuki member or somehow Obito survived/come back?
I think he's Obito. :3 Because is is possible to survive having half your body crushed, especially in Kishimoto's ninja world. (e.x. Lee's 49% chance of recovery) And because he looks/acts like Obito. xd

Nah, I don't buy that theory. I truely think that if Yondaime or Kakashi had even the slighest doubt that he was dead, they would search everywhere for him. Although it would explain Itachi's "3 Magenkyo users" statement; but then Kakashi got the Magenkyo, so there really is three {Sasuke, Itachi, Kakashi}, despite Kakashi not having it back then. I'm confusing myself, but still, I don't believe Tobi is Obitio, as far as Ive read, nothing even suggests that he has a Sharingan, only his mask raises speculation that he may be missing an eye. But so is Deidara. And Tsume Inuzuka's wolf.

I think that's actually the best argument I've seen so far for Tobi being a random Akatsuki member. I'm pretty sure Sasuke doesn't have Mangekyou yet, though. Yeah. He's still only got the three tomoe, even after the timeskip.
Yondaime didn't officially see what happened to Obito, 'cause Rin told him. Besides, we never actually saw him dead, there was just a series of black boxes that supposedly told us he died. 'Course, it's entirely possible for someone at the Akatsuki's level to bring someone back from the dead/heal half a crushed body...

There are also arguments that the Akatsuki leader is actually the Yondaime...
The theory basically goes that the version of the Death Summoning jutsu he told to the Sandaime was an earlier version, and that the complete version the Yondaime used on the kyuubi only took part of his soul/mind. Having lost half his soul/mind, but still retaining all the ninja know-how of the Fourth Hokage, yondaime then became the evil leader of Akatsuki.

...Anyways, I really don't know. But Obito is one of my favorite characters, so if Tobi turns out to really be Obito then I'll be all forms of happy. I think there's a possibility, though...

That theory I don't buy, mostly because the Akatsuki leader has orange hair and two nose piercings. :3 The way you explained it though, that seems plausible.

I was referring to Itachi's quote that if Sasuke did get the Mangekyou there would be 3 Magenkyou users, or so he said when after he killed everyone when Sasuke was little. Yeah, Madara probably was the first to get it, so Itachi probably didn't expect Kakashi to develop it since he thinks Kakashi can't control it as well just because he isn't an Uchiha.

No, I'm pretty sure Sasuke still doesn't have the Mangekyou. [Spoiler-ish]: He defeated Orochimaru, yes, but with his normal three tomoe. Apparently at a very high level. Or it could just be that Orochimaru is weak against the Sharingan, regardless of Mangekyou status.

--I just had a thought. What was the name of Itachi's cousin/best friend that he supposedly killed? The Uchiha police claimed that he was missing and believed to be dead, but did Itachi really?

Chapter 36_ or 37_, can't remember exactly. Because said underling is the real leader of Akatsuki? That was a front, it seems. Perhaps we shall find out when Itachi dukes it out with Sasuke.
