Two days ago I was at discussion about DN. And the first question which compere asked was " Are Light and L a bishonen? "
Of course fangirls who was there said that it is obvious....YESSSSSSSSS!!!. The male part of discussion wasn't so sure of that...
Well it's true nor Light nor L are classical type of bishonen.
And what do you think?

Light and L are both boys, and they're both pretty. Ergo, Light and L are bishounen. xd

I say that ligh is, but L isn't all that much, only cause he dosn't fit the canon of bishies. But to me L is a bishie XD!

For me L is bishie too (and for all girl who was on this discussion sweatdrop )
But there is one proof that L is bishonen, no matter what he eats he don't put on weight, and all fans know that bishonens never put on weight xd

"Are Light and L a Bishonen?"
GRAMMAR ERROR! GRAMMAR ERROR! CANNOT COMPUTE!

Seriously, it's more like:
"Are Raito and L Bishonen?"
or
"Are Light and L pretty boys?"

I'd say...
Yes.
Raito, anyway.
He makes a deliberate point of that.
...
Not so sure of L.

While I find L a hell of a lot cuter/prettier than Raito, I have to disagree on them being Bishounen. Bishounen, typically, are beautiful boys with feminine traits, often including but not limited to: Long hair, thin effeminate figures, large eyes, and are (sometimes) emotional.

Hm. Raito and L, while kind of on the skinny side, don't have effeminate figures. Nor do they have large eyes, long hair, or really look very feminine in any way. And that creepy look Raito gets often is quite anti-bishie if you ask me.

They don't fit the traditional standards of what makes Bishounen (especially since Bishie-boys are staples of Shojo anime, not Shonen, which is what DN is categorized as), and are, to me, in no way Bishies.

...Although, as I said, I think L is damn cute. ♥

Hmmmm...... well they are both very pretty boys....thats for sure! Light has charcteristics that deffintly make a typical bishounen, but isen't quite the perfect example. While L dosen't quite fit, but is VERY hot and pretty (with his dark hair and Pale skin and beatiful.....oh sorry back to topic) So it depends on how much you like to stick to the rules i guess!!!! They are both very beatiful hot anime boys so they COULD be bishounen... but if you follow the traights to a tee then no. hehe this is one of those questions that depends one the person you ask.

Raito is definitely a bishie...though his personality isn't really typical of bishounen. L...not so much. Teru is kinda bishie without his glasses.

Some Bishes have glasses.
And there's a difference between bishie and just hot.

Light is definitely a stereotypical bishounen in terms of looks. In terms of personality... uh, unique.

L's not your usual bishie, but he's still a bishie nonetheless. Or, as 4chan likes to call him, MOE. x3

If the first pic you ever saw of L was this:

You'd also think him to be moe too, right? =D

(Provided by Wikipedia)

(Bishōnen also transliterated bishounen), is a Japanese term literally meaning "beautiful boy, or beautiful youth."

The term describes an aesthetic widely shared in Asia: a young man whose beauty (and sexual appeal) transcends the boundary of sex.

Some have theorized that bishōnen provides a non-traditional outlet for gender relations. Moreover, it breaks down stereotypes surrounding feminine male characters. These are often depicted with very strong martial arts abilities, sports talent, high intelligence, or comedic flair, traits that are usually assigned to the hero/protagonist.

Typically, bishōnen are depicted with either outright homosexual content or some level of sexual ambiguity in their relationships and sexual identity, though in increasing instances in anime and manga, such as Saint Seiya, Fruits Basket, Trinity Blood, Weiss Kreuz, Gravitation and Naruto to name a few. ((Hmm... I wonder why Naruto's there.... ;D ))

------------------------------------

I don't think bishounen are necessarily beautiful boys with feminine traits. I do agree that they are beautiful (*ahem*), but the characters that show masculinity are also considered bishounen.

I guess it also depends on the perspective of the person judging. One male may be a bishounen to one person and not to another.

For me, I think all males have bishounen potential; whether he's uke, seme, straight, or bi.

Though I shouldn't be one to judge on this topic.... sweatdrop

I think Light yes, but L is not in the traditional sense.
