Help spread hope and some distraction to ill children.
My mother is employed as a children's nurse out at MSUM's Children's Hospital, every couple of days we hear about some of the kids she takes care of. A number of which are destined to die young, and live a very suffer filled life due to illness, birth defects, physical abuse and such things. Her hospital sees children from newborns to 18 year olds. These kids are there more than just overnight, and some frequent the hospital fairly often.
The hospital itself is flittered with things to help brighten a child's day. One of the small features that help do this are lights outside of each child's door. It's pretty much a plastic holder for any 8.5 X 11 piece of paper that has a light on the other side.
Lately she asked me to create some art for these light fixtures as some have just sat in the fixtures for ever. Occasionally a child will color or draw something and the nurses will put it out. But many children are too ill or not interested in creating something for themselves.
This is where you come in, if you have some art that you feel might help brighten the day of an ill child, or spur the imagination then I'd appreciate you taking a moment to read the following guidelines. 3nodding heart

exclaim Must be 8.5x11!! (Yes that is the size of copy paper))
exclaim Must be rated G!!
exclaim Must not be overly religious! (Since many of the children who come in are from a variety of religions and countries it would be best a piece had no religious meaning at all)
exclaim Must be oriented the tall way! (8.5 being width, and 11 being height)
exclaim Must be your own work!
exclaim Must not be of a copyrighted character.
heart Lots of colors are loved!
heart Quality over quantinty. (Please submit one or two really nice pieces)
heart Draw something appealing to most children. (animals, dinosaurs, fairies)
heart Draw happy things. (We want to cheer them up not make them blue)

How many pieces are you looking for?
Maybe 20 pieces that I can print out and hand over to the nurses to use. 3nodding
How much money do you/I get?
None, this would be charity work.
Where will my work be displayed?
MSU Children's Hospital. (Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA)
How will it be used?
The nurses will put it in the light fixture by a children's room. It may stay up a while or have copies made of but will not be distributed for profit. (Copies would be for use in additional fixtures or for children to hang in their room)
Why are you asking us?
I thought it sounded fun, and think that it would be nice if they had a small variety of pieces to pick a choose from.
Will I be given credit?
If you would be kind enough to put your signature on the piece that would good. Otherwise I'll print it on the back if you'd like.
Will you keep the art for yourself?
No, I'll make a separate folder for it. Your art will not be redistributed by me.
