Dancia trotted along the riverbank swiftly, enjoying her evening run. She loved the feeling of the wind blowing through her mane; the sensation gave her glimpses of what it might've been like to be able to fly like her mother and brother. A squeal of protest errupted from a red, furry bundle clinging onto Dani's neck as she picked up speed and thrusted into a full gallop. "Sorry, Keelee." The sleek mare apologized, surpressing a giggle while letting a hissing otter slide onto the ground and into the river. "But remember, you insisted on coming." Keelee, the sea otter that Dani had befriended as a filly, could be quite protective of her sometimes, and Dancia knew that her furry little friend's bristling fur and barks of annoyment was all an act. The mare and familar were closer than most other pairs, and they had such a deep understanding that neither could fully get mad at the other, and one was rarely far away from the other. Keelee was always either wrapped around Dancia's neck, or trailing her in a nearby river.

Unfortunately the same could not be said for Biscuit as he flounced through the under growth; making his way from the Herd Lands to a much more sociable location. Having grown up rather dramatically in the last few months, he had at last convinced his parents and the elder soquili within his family that he could be trusted. Clearly, the gods had been smiling on him as Grencia had helped fight his corner for him!
Alas, a bright smile lingered on his lips as his mood continued to improve. With every step, the day seemed to be looking up - some might have called this ridiculously optimistic but he had never seen anything wrong with looking at the bright side of life. Distracted by his own thoughts, he was somewhat surprised when he heard the disturbance ahead of him and arched a brow.
A pause.
A moment in time and suddenly...
MARE! His mind shrieked delightedly, his eyes twinkling with anticipation as he broke into a trot and made his way towards the voice. If anything, he was rather surprised by what met his eyes.
...She had hair just like his auntie but that pelt. Well, his stomach gave a little flutter of appreciation at that!

With a toss of her head in laughter, Dancia continued trotting off. She knew that Keelee would join her in a matter of seconds. A full minute had passed before Dani stopped in her tracks and turned around. Where was Keelee?
With her fur still bristling, a wary otter sniffed around the bushes. Was she imagining things? Or had she heard some hoofbeats... A low growl leaked out of Keelee's throat.
Dancia quickly begain trotting back toward her friend. She bent down low and nuzzled Keelee, whispering, "What's wrong? Is someone there?" Of course, Dani hadn't really believed that someone was headed towards her, she just said that out of a whim. "Let's go," she said after a few more minutes of calming down an angry sea otter. She nosed Keelee back onto her back and began galloping off.

Why did they always seem to run? The Stallion pulled a face in exasperation and raised his eyes heavenwards at this thought - no matter whether he was seen or not, these mares always had a knack for running off. Perhaps, it was simply wired into the brains to do so but it was terribly troublesome at this time of the morning and to be frank...
...Well, he wasn't a morning soquili.
"Mmph." He mumbled incoherently, blinking the sleep out of his eyes in the process. All in all, he could be jaunty when he wanted to be but running at this time in the morning was positively insane!
Alas, he could do this.
He could.
And so he did, bunching up his muscles as he launched himself forward and lopped into a reasonably steady canter. All in all, he may have been prepared to run a little but he was not going to gallop. At least his hoof beats were audible now and he could be seen - if she didn't at least stop to let him catch up.
Eh, if she didn't stop he would be dining alone for breakfast!

Dancia quickly skidded to a stop. ...Hoofbeats? Her eyes quickly scanned the area behind her. There! She spotted the brown tint of a Soquili in the distance behind her- a tint that was quickly enlarging as it etched closer. "Sorry," Dani whispered to Keelee, ashamed that she hadn't taken her friend's warning as serious.
As Dani waited for the Soquili to catch up, whom she had identified as a stallion, she couldn't help but wonder why she hadn't noticed him before. And what did he want? It was becoming obvious that the stallion was heading towards her. Perhaps he just wanted directions? Dani didn't believe that he posed a threat to her. Of course, she didn't think anybody meant her harm, unless they were a Kalona or a Skinwalker.
As the stallion continued to canter closer, Dancia blushed as she realized that he was quite good-looking. He was a rich, deep brown, with yellow-gold socks and blaze, and a curly tan mane and tail. "Good morning!" she called.

Pfft!
Biscuit would have considered the thought of being lost to be ridiculous, but with a toss of his mane it was clear he simply couldn't read minds. Even so, he was mentally rather delighted that the pretty mare had come to a halt. He too began to slow down and with surprising grace he lopped from a canter to a steady walk - stretching out his neck in a small arch.
Runs were one thing but without stretching or before he'd woken up were not a good idea.
"Mornin'!" He replied in a similarly enthusiastic tone. Despite his 'polite' visage and the influence of his uncle he had never been able to shake the foreign lilt to his speech. "Farin' well, aye?"

Likewise, Dani couldn't read minds either, or else her face would've flushed redder than the reddest rose. Never before had she even thought herself as fair, let alone pretty. Dani was simply...Dani. No added adjectives needed.
Curiosity tilted Dani's head to the side. She had never heard anybody use such language before, although she knew it would be rude to ask why. Instead, she smiled her graceful smile, and answered shyly, "Yes, quite well, thank you, sir. Yourself?"
Knowing fully well that Dani was a timid mare, Keelee curled dutifully around her friend's feet. Nothing out of the blue so far in her friend's actions. Keelee couldn't understand the Soquili language all too well, and was only able to speak a few phrases. Even so, she and Dani always found a way to understand each other, and if Dani was feeling distressed, Keelee would spring instantly into action.

Well he didn't bite (not hard at least) but he was aware that this mare seemed a little offish. Not in a bad way of course, she was just a little more coy than any of the others he had met. Actually, when he really though about it, his sisters were absolutely mental which might explain why he always found it odd when he met a quiet female.
...Hell, even his aunt was eccentric and don't get him started on his mother.
"Awk well..." He seemed to consider her question and squinted his eyes as if to indicate he was still groggy, "S'tad early for meself lass." He confessed and shook his head. At this he offered a wry smile and took a few moments to admire her physique once more - oi...that pelt, he thought his aunt had been lying when she spoke about these things.
"Not really a mornin' person, generally prefer to sleep until midday, aye?" He continued, half hoping she was inclined towards the same laziness as he was. Truly, he really just liked to sleep in.

Dani giggled, remembering how she used to complain as a filly that nobody could get any sleep when her Uncle Tai was snoring his head off. "I only wish I could sleep in to noon," she confided, smiling sheepishly. "It's rather impossible, though, with my uncle snoring earthquakes. Strange, though, that he rises at dawn..."
The color rushed to Dancia's face as she felt herself being examined. What in the world did the stallion see in her? "Ah, um..." the mare stuttered, quite flustered. Desperately, she racked her brains for an interesting conversation topic. "So, then, why is the kind sir up so early?" Curiousity was such an annoying thing. Could she have been any more rude?
Keelee had effortlessly climbed around Dani neck, and cocked her head to the side curiously. Why was Danicia's face red? Why was she warming then usual? The otter slid of the mare and dashed over to the strange stallion. He spoke so strangely...Was he a threat? Was he the cause of Dani's strange behavior?

Unfortunately, Biscuit had little time to answer as the otter dashed towards him. Although he wasn't particularly frightened he was a little overwhelmed by the attention he was receiving from the little critter. As far as he could recall, the only extremely sociable critter in his family was Gully and that bear seemed to hug anything and everyone it could get its paws on. He couldn't really say the same for this otter though, in truth he wasn't entirely sure how to cope with the attention given he had never met one before...Well, not up close.
"Oi, well..." He smiled sheepishly and canted his head to the side so that his curly locks caressed his cheeks and then hung to the side like the branches of a willow tree. "Ye see, I was sleepin' and then I had the oddest dream." He wasn't about to admit it was a nightmare that had made him squeal like a foal, but it had woken him up. "So I was forced out of me bed a tad earlier than I 'spected - not sayin' I cin complain though." He flashed a winning smile at this.
"So...Why can ye not sleep 'til noon, ye got yer own personal alarm or sommat?"

Dancia laughed, "What an interesting way to the woken up," she commented, cocking her head to the side curiously. "It sure seems preferable to being woken up by your Godfather getting ready for his morning run." Dani's Uncle Taiyaung wasn't exactly quiet when he got up in the morning, if you could call daybreak morning. And well, with Dancia being the sensitive sleeper that she was, she normally was awoken by her uncle scrambling to his feet, or his muttered conversations to himself.
"And oh? What makes this morning so special?" She asked, hoping she wasn't intruding on Bisuit's privacy. Dancia did have a filly's curiosity, and well, if tended to be hard for her to contain it.
Keelee wouldn't call it attention that she was giving the stallion, more of a...scrutiny. He didn't seem dangerous, but well, Keelee just didn't like Biscuit. She snorted in contempt, wondering why Dancia was wasting her time with this fool. She made a series of annoyed clicks, glaring at Dancia.

Oh-ho! Clearly someone did not like him and Biscuit afforded a slight glance towards the otter. Although she may have been small enough to squish under his hoof he knew from experience that something that small could beat him into submission with ease. While he found this quite funny to watch on occasions, the thought wasn't exactly desirable to him when he was the current target.
Oi, he would never understand the small critters of this world.
...Then again, he was only just out of infancy himself!
"Awk well, that sounds abou' right." Luckily he was a rather heavy sleeper and his family scuttling around in the morning didn't bother him in the slightest. In fact, the only time it did bother him was when he was smacked in the face by accident and that rarely happened. Even so, she'd asked that question with such innocence and opportunity that he couldn't help but smile a little more - clearly she wasn't anti-social or that shy...maybe with a little encouragement she would make for fine company.
"Well lesse 'ere..." He paused deliberately and gave a toss of his mane, "Fer a start I would nae 'ave met ye if I'd slept in now would I?" He wagged his tail at this and canted his head to the side, "That winnae have been good, te miss such a fabulous opportunity as this. It's rare te be able to speak te one of such beauty!"

(( Sorry about the wait! D= ))
Dani blushed in embarressment and mumbled some hasty apologies to Biscuit. "I'm so sorry about that, I really don't know what's gotten into her- she really is quite sweet, once you give her a chance, um, or once she gives you a chance..." "Keelee!" she hissed under her breath. "Behave yourself! He is not a desperate, strange-talking, charmer of a doofus...and whatever else you said!" The young mare's cheeks grew even hotter at the stallion's last statement. Dancia knew fully well that she was making a fool of herself, but she had no experience whatsoever is a situation like this. "Um thank you..." She mummured. "Um, fine mane you have there," she offered, wanting to say something nice in return.

Biscuit beamed at this compliment. While he had no qualms in complimenting a mare until she swooned, when he was complimented it he loved it! At her words, he gave the mane a toss and pulled himself up to his full height - it was automatic, he couldn't help himself. Even now he arched his neck and struck the most ridiculous pose in order to savour the words.
"M'lady, ye flatter me with yer words." He abruptly let his comical pose dropped and blew the forelock out of his eyes, although said eyes did twinkle now that he had found a mare with potential. She was young like him, inexperienced (like him, though he wouldn't say) and yet she still made the effort to speak to him.
"So..." Choosing to change the subject until the mare felt suitably more comfortable he motioned towards the otter again, "The furball always this uptight or is it me unlucky day?" In all honesty, he had heard the mare hissing towards the Otter but he wanted to hear it out loud where he could 'defend' himself so to speak...although he was a bit of a charmer. Desperate though? He'd beg to differ!
"Cause I be swearin' now, I dinnae bite!"

Dani tried her best to stifle her laughter, but a few stray giggles managed to free themselves. Don't misunderstand, Dani wasn't laughing at Biscuit, but rather, in happiness She had actually meant her compliment, all hesitation aside, and it pleased to see Biscuit react so joyfully.
She smiled and did a quick curtsy. "Well, I think it's time that I returned the favor, don't you?" she asked, almost teasingly. Dani, under her shy and quiet exterior, could be quite a character when she was at ease. If you give her the chance, Dani can be if not adventurous, energetic and passionate, as well as warm, mature, and patient.
Danicia cast a wary glance and the still pouting Keelee, and answered, "Well, she dislikes strangers and is very protective of me, but I've never seen her so...unwilling to five someone a chance," she admitted. "Although, it might help if you don't call her furball..." Dani grinned helplessly, realizing that she had never properly introduced either of them. "I'm Danica, but you may call me Dani, and this is Keelee," she said.
