About The LomoThe Birth of the Lomo
In 1982, General Igor Petrowitsch Kornitzky, right-hand man to the USSR Minister of Defense and Industry, showed his comrade Michail Panfilowitsch Panfiloff a small little Japanese mini-camera.
He examined the camera, noticing its delicate features, sharp glass lens, high light sensitivity and robust casing.
The two men instantly realised just how great this camera was, gave immediate orders to copy and improve the design.
Their ultimate goal to produce largest quantity possible for the pleasure and glory of the Soviet population.
Every respectable communist was to have their own LOMO KOMPAKT AUTOMAT.
The Lomo LCA was born, and was shipped off to their friends, Vietnam, Cuba and East Germany where the last glimpses of communism were shot. Discovery
In 1991, a bunch of Viennese students were crusing through Prague.
By this time, the LCA was was coming to a close, weakened by cheap batteries and the fact one could only own one by going to a quirky camera store, it seemed as if it the sun was about to set.
But the Viennese students happen to stumble across one of these quirky camera stores, and bought the funny little contraption just for fun.
They zoomed through rolls of film, shooting through and above legs, from the hip and even through the view finder.
Back home, the developed the film but to find shots which were small, sad, amusing and garish shots fresh from the Czech Republic.
These images were something new, something exciting and given them a feeling of which they had never felt before... The Lomographic Society
Created in 1992-1993 in Vienna, The Lomographic Society was created with an aim to spread the Message of Lomography.
After seeing the students photos, everyone demanded they get their grubby little paws on one.
Click-Click-Click-Click
{In 1998-1999} Photokina - the largest Photography convention in the world - had just introduced a new camera, THE ACTIONSAMPLER.
This is a camera which seperates one second, into four frames, and puts it back together on a single photo, Creating something totally new.
It had created a Fever that struck all lomographers.
New Baby
At the Salone Del Mobile - 2000 - the massive annual design convention in Milan, the Lomographic Society International presents the first camera to have been developed, designed and patented exclusively by a team of Lomographers: the SuperSampler!
This camera also seperates a second into four parts, but re assembles them, Longitudanaly!(sp?)
Let's Melt some Plastic! In summer of 2001, Kunsthalle (Contemporary Art Hall) in the Vienna MuseumsQuartier, the Lomographic Society christened the very first Lomography Shop in the world. It was created with the Lomography's Golden Rule, "Don't Think, Just Shoot." Pop!
In june 2002, The pop 9 camera had just been born.
Consisting of not 1, not 4, but 9 Lenses
It creates a pop art world at your very finger tips.

I assume all 120 is the same..but it really sucks when you have to seperate the film from the paper wrapper. I know when I rolled my first one I thought I killed my film, ALAS...in stead of killing the film in the rolling stage I killed it while developing. Our fixer was old so it ruined it.
