I thought some of you might be interested in this. I created a figure of "the Faceless" from my novel "A Shadowlander's Dream". I've always wanted to create them in 3d, but this was the best I could do. It is made of clay, wire and cloth. Turned out alright I guess. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/51859141/I'm also working on a bust of Akaime's face in stages of decay. I'll work on those later. jaa ne Kat

I haven't read any of your novels yet, but this in itself is so cool! He looks like he could just get up and float off. =D

Thanks, both of you.
Dorian' - I consider it alright because the cloak was supposed to look more fluid and slicker. Like black tar flowing into clothe. It is not an easy look to pull off considering I see it in my head, but how would I pull it off in real life. If I knew how to CGI it I could probably to the image to work out alright, but I had to go with the skills I have, which CGI is limited to 2D arts. *sighs*
Frozen - I'm glad I pulled off the floating look. That was the hardest part oddly enough, getting the mask to float on it's own and the entire body to float above the ground without the wires being shown. Now that I think about it I could have made this into a marionette and it might have worked out better. *shrugs*
The next two sculptures are turning out to be a pain. Think of that thing with the skin of a human pulled over it so it looks normal, then tear off the skin in places on the face so the mask reveals underneath. I have two versions of that image I want to work on. One of him in human form with part of his face missing and one with him in Faceless form with only a little bit of skin left. Those are going to rather difficult to finish, but should be interesting.
Well, thanks for commenting on my works.

I realized that just now when I read your comment on DeviantArt. xD Nevertheless, I think you pulled it off at least ten times better than I could've under any circumstances. Just a question - do you do concept art before making sculptures like the ones you mentioned earlier?

Yeah, I have a lot of sketches of this creature from different angles. They were used mostly for when they appeared in the manga version of the story. It was not an easy creature to sketch and when I tried to draw Akaime, with his skin peeling off, it just didn't work out so well.
Here is where one of them shows up in the manga. This creature is supposed to mold its cloak into nearly anything.
Anyways, Jaa ne
