Well our main circuit breaker died over the weekend and we were reduced to absolute minimum power (but to do that, we had to keep checking the remaining lower powered secondary breaker so that it didn't catch fire if we had more than 1 appliance on at a time. gonk ) So, since there wasn't much worthwhile on TV, I played some Phantasy Star III on my GBA.
I loaded my Sean save (I'd just gotten the Siren Shot) and headed to the desert world. I dove underwater to the hidden Laya sanctuary to find out which shrine I was supposed to take to get back to the place to get the weapons blessed. I returned to the surface, then flew around the world to locate the shrine the old guys talked about. I landed on the left side of the airstrip. Thinking it would place me on the right side, I pushed right, and Wren transformed back into the Aerojet. I flew around to the other side and disembarked. I don't remember why, but I went back to the spot to return to the hidden land. As usual, Wren turned into the Sub, talked about being able to go down further, then something odd hapened. Wren turned into an Aerojet.....while in the water. eek The screen switched over to the hidden land, but my party was nowhere to be found, and I couldn't move or bring up the party menu! gonk
I like to think that Wren went into the underwater path, then accidently hit the button to change to a jet, which caused him to shortcircuit out in the water. With Wren disabled and a jet not being waterproof, water rushed into the main cabin and drowned the rest of the party, and they never surfaced again... cry
To make sure this wasn't just some strange fluke, I did it again and got the same results. xd
So, is this a known bug, or did I find one? whee

Wierd. I've never heard of that happening before, so I guess you found a new bug.

Odd how new glitches are found in games so old.. you'd think all is known about them already!
