The Good Alrightythen! Well today was the 6th and final day of my day at this particular place of employment. I felt bad about quitting so soon into my employment. It made me feel a bit sad, and I felt like I was letting people down, my co workers, my mother ect. All and all, I felt pretty good about the decision, it was needed, there was no putting it off.
The Bad It was hell...HELL I tell you! The first day I worked, I wore boots which killed my feet, that combined with an ill-fitting uniform was NOT a good start.
I was promised another uniform that would fit better, but have yet to recieve it. The hotel that I opted to work in was severely short of help, and thus there was alot of work to do, which was made only more complex by women with attitudes the size of the state of Texas.
The Ugly I was not hired for the job I applied for, but I really needed work so I took it out of desperation, which proved to be a mistake. It only aggrivated an already painful injury in my lower back, leaving me in horrendous pain at times while being completely numb at others.
But it was definitely the people that made me quit in the end. There are just some things I do not have to put up with. Even if I cant get a job anywhere else in this raggedy little city, I don't have to put up with that level of disrespect... and I wont. They didnt pay me enough for that, and thats not what I signed up for. I was fairly well medicated, but not that well medicated.

You have to do what is best for you So don't feel guilty about it If your back is in such rough shape, do you qualify for any type of disability subsity, or is that a route you don't want to consider. Back care http://www.backpain.org/pages/e_pages/exercise.php

Thank you for that link, Thyna. I will be using those exercises and I hope that my pinched nerver may work itself out. I've had this thing for way to long and its getting worse. The bad part is that I don't qualify for any disability and I can't afford insurance at the moment. I'm saving my money though.

The good news is that I have insurance (for now anyway), the bad news is that I don't qualify... since its classified as a degenerative disease they assure me I WILL qualify in time...but until then I need to find something that doesn't aggrevate my back too badly. Personally I'd rather have my back better, so I'll check into that link because any relief I can get is worth looking into.

I don't blame you there Oterys
I hope the exercises help. But I will see if I can get a copy of a pamphlet my workplace just sent out. It means I will have to sweet talk my bf into setting up my scanner for me lol
good luck heart

Sorry
I hadn't read the pamphlet until now. The agency is "looking" into getting someone come in once a year to train the staff with proper lifting and transfer techniques. Didn't give as much detail as I had thought, considering it is 5 pages and titled Back Pain.
But management is kind of dumb that way.

No surprise there. Management seems to suffer from that no matter what country theyre in. Although I can't imagine how they bled that over 5 pages...but I've seen it done so yes I can imagine how they stretched it out like that.

meh it's just them laying out the plans, goals and responsibilities of the parties involved. Basically, them trying to look like they have accomplished something, yet wasting time in the process.

Thats sad, since they could actually be helping someone rather than wasting time and energy on something pointless.

Oterys Thats sad, since they could actually be helping someone rather than wasting time and energy on something pointless. Agreed there. When I first started we had an Occupational Therapist come in and train new staff on how to use the transfer equipment, and proper lifting techniques. But with the high staff turn over rates that was one of the things they took out due to costs. Now the only time we can get the training is if we get a new peice of equipment, or there has been a drastic change in the care needs of one of the residents.

Well if it gets too bad I suppose I can always resign myself to more cortizone shots to numb my spinal column again...but in that case the treatment is almost as bad as the ailment its treating.
