for World history class, we have to compare a modern dictator "one from 1970-now" to either stalin, hitler or moussilini.
i chose Castro and Stalin. and i really procrastonated on this one, and the due date's uber close, can anyone help me out a bitt? "anything would be apreciated, even just links to sites with info"

for one thing, fidel's not a dictator he's a figurehead he really has no power whatsoever. he's just there for decoration really. whenever things need deciding in cuba, the government either debates it and decides together or [more commonly] asks the public fidel allows for private enterprise [provided it's not drug-trafficking {sp?} or prostitution] fidel allows people to leave cuba as they wish [the problem with leaving cuba for america is the green card lottery - only a strict amount are granted entrance to the US] he doesn't tend to execute criminals unless the public demands it. [this happened in the mid-90's with a group of terrorists, that was the last time an execution was carried out in cuba]

"anything would be apreciated, even just links to sites with info" 1970-now? First, Stalin did not live past 1950s so he would have to be out. Second, Good luck. Third, Augusto Pinochet (sp?) would qualify also for the time period and was recently convicted of crimes against humanity so their is fresh info about him.

I'm pretty sure Mao died in '76 would he be considered a dictator? I've never really paid that much attention to China.
