It's going to be based on the novel 'Phantom of Manhatten'.

I really wish he based it on something else.

I started crying as soon as I read the topic name... crying

I despise sequels, period. It's annoying how people try to drag stuff out past their ends. xp

According to alot of 'phans', it's pretty bad.

In the book, Erik/The Phantom is in a clown suit, and Christine has his child because Raoul was stripped from his manliness.

In conclusion, not so nice.

Yeah...I realize that...It's just that I really don't want to see a sequal to Phantom of the Opera.

Yeah. I read that on Wikipedia a while ago, but I thought it was false information. I prayed it was, really. Sequels are never as good as the original, and I think that POTO is one of those stories that requires nothing more.

If Erik were to get with Christine in the sequel, wouldn't he lose all of his appeal? And besides: He is the "bad guy", believe it or not, and the good guy (Raoul, bleh) won. It would be a total contridiction for him to win out in the end. (Don't get me wrong; anyone who has visited my Phantom Phanfiction page will know very well that I love that outcome as much as the next person; but Fanfiction and the "actual thing" are two entirely different things.) Dragging out something as poignant as POTO is really a shame, and I do hope that Andrew Lloyd Webber does so carefully.

By the way, is the sequel a Broadway show or a movie? If it is a movie, I won't mind it as much (because a lot of people didn't like the first movie; no offense intended to those who are movie fans). I for one would like to see a movie of it (but instead of Emmy and Gerard, possibly Rachel Barrel or Lara Fabian and Hugh Panaro or Josh Groban). Josh Groban: a Phantom? Why not? biggrin
