heart heart ~*~ heart ~*~ heart heart ~Banned Writers and Books~ Banning books/writers is like violating the right of freedom of speech.
Discussion of banned writers/books: Why they have been banned? Have you read the books? What did you think of them? What is banning? How does a writer/book get banned?
Think of more topics, and let's discuss and speculate.
And Animal Farm is banned because it "promotes" Communism!
James and the Giant Peach because they say it has too many references to drugs and hallucinations.

My opinon may be a bit biased, but so is the banning of books. At any rate, I believe that it's simply because books have the power to promote certain religious/political beliefs. (While they may not necessarily pertain to the prementioned subjects, those are, unfortunately, all I could think of in my sleep-deprived state sweatdrop )
At ant rate, those beliefs may or may not be in favor of the current rule. So, as a measure to ensure the fact that the population will continue to follow their lines of thought, they ban those books.
But in the case of James and the Giant Peach, (which I enjoyed reading as a child), I felt that it wasn't sensible for them to ban it just because it had references to drugs/hallucinations. After all, it's drug abuse that must not be promoted, not the existence of drugs. After all, their main purpose is to cure the human body, ne?
