Have you ever noticed that when you read different books by the same authors, they have small little personal phrases and names that make it undoubtedly theirs? This is considered their signature.
Sample: #1. Some authors dedicate multiple books to the same person/people #2. Stephen King created his own fictional town of Derry that has been mentioned in three of his books.

Yes! Yes! If you read in the dedication part in the Series of Unfortunate Events, you will notice that they are all dedicated to the same person and always the same... again and again...

I guess it's more like a stock phrase that let's the author convince himself/herself that the story is genuinely "theirs". Besides, this also helps in distinguishing literary styles between authors.
I haven't exactly developed a "signature" yet, so I'll just have to keep on writing then!
