Call me stupid, but I never quite got it.

Are Heartless the remnants of hearts that are stolen, or the heart itself once it's separated from the body?

And why are the bodies called Nobodies when they clearly have bodies? o.o''

Heartless are the remnants of a person with no heart...And if the person had a pure, strong heart, the remaining husk would become the Nobody, who, in addition to having no heart, have no feelings.
