Shinji's classroom is one of the neater rooms. There isn't very much clutter, and if there were too many things, they were stacked into nice little piles. The seats themselves had a basic desk setup, but above them were cups of water. They were hooked up to a console at his desk, meaning he could trigger the water to drop at any time he wanted, be it disciplinary or otherwise.

-Discuss what it means to be functional in battle

To be functional in battle can mean any number of things. One can be functional as a medic and keep their allies alive, or one could be a functional decoy. When It all get's boiled down, The most functional person is the one most prepared for the greatest number of different situations.

To use techniques to puch an opponent into a trap is one example. In the genin exams, one will need to know how to trick their opponent. One of the best ways to do that is to research the origin of a technique, figure out how it works, then simplify the skill so it's easier to perform at genin level.

-Quiz the knowledge of what to do in a certain situation

One must always know what is the right choice to make in situations. If captured, you hold the location of your hidden village inside your head. To protect the village, you may have to take your own life, or you may simply be able to use a specialized technique to erase that knowledge from one's mind.

-Masochism as a benefit?

To give a critical blow, one must catch their enemy off gaurd. To do this, sometimes sacrifices must be made. A fatal wound can be avoided with a turn of the body. It may be easier and seem better to avoid the entire attack, but, if you had taken the wound into a part of your body that wasn't vital, you could use your flesh as a sort of sheath, and then make your own critical blow while they wonder what happened.

In other occasions, such as being forced under the effects of a genjutsu, one cannot always move one's arms. Because of this, the handseal cannot be formed needed to perform the release technique. If/when that happens to one in battle, the only remaining option to escape is to continue feigning capture, and bite one's toungue to drown the illusion in real pain.

-Timing practice

-Weapon strategies

Different weapons have different advantages against one another. The sword can actually be considered useless if it's to be used to try to parry a mace's blow. The heavy weapon would likely break right throguh any gaurd that was put up, and the sword would likely snap or become damaged.

A spear is very effective at keeping an enemy away, but lacks very much slashing, making it wise to carry a dagger as well as a spear.

A mankiri-gusari is a chain type weapon with a kama(tiny scythe) on one end, and a weight on the other. This weapon is often used to disarm one's opponent, then switched to using the kama as the swung part of the weapon to finish off the enemy.

A needle thrown in the wake of a larger object is often hard to detect, even by higher up ninja. Even under a barrier, a needle has a chance of slipping in if the original projectile made one spot weaker momentarily.

Repeating one's actions often end in bad results, but if one were to repeat only a couple times, then feign one more repeat, that final repetition could be used as a trap, and changed to get one's opponent off gaurd.

-Armor penetration strategies

All armor has a weakness, Chainmail, the space between the links.
Platemail hase weak armor at the joints, and is often vulnerable to weapons with a lot of crushing type force.
scalemail can be beaten with a simple upwards thrust.
Leather barely slows down attacks, and only really welps against thrown weapons and slashing weapons.

-Fusing genjutsu/ninjutsu/taijutsu

If one were to fuse together their ninja basics, one could create a taijutsu technique that required ninjutsu to function, or a ninjutsu that needed an illuison to be fully executed. They may seem like a tricky matter to deal with, but techniques such as the Chidori are based around an assasination taijutsu manuever, combined with the lightning element.

-Tools usage

Knowing how to use certain tools and when to use them can mean the difference of life and death. The senbon should be used minimally when trying to kill, but often when trying to subdue because the long point of metal can be very annoying inside one's thigh, and cause excessive damage if the target tried to run on that leg.

Wires should be used when setting up traps with sufficient time to finish them. Sometimes, one might create a trap, but not have the wire the proper length, and instead of a branch snapping to striek a person from a tree, there may be slack enough that the tree only brushes them gently. Wires are not meant to be rushed.

Exploding tags... Avoid these duringt he genin exam. They may be very effective in traps, and sometimes when dealing with other ninja by placing them on other people's backs, but under the rules of the genin exam, one cannot kill their opponent. If you want to learn about tags better, ask after you become a chuunin.

Although kunai are the bread and butter of the ninja arsenal, It's quite difficult to carry more than five at a time. Each knife is about six inches in total length, and the equipment pouch given to genin is often too small to fit very many. There are often genin who wear additional pouches for kunai specifically, but those pouches are designed to be tied to an arm or a leg, and only carry a couple knives. Additionally, One shouldn't throw away weapons willy nilly.

Swords are considered to be very good weapons, solely because of their reputation with samurai. On the contrary, a ninja weilding a sword will only end up with a damaged blade. Ninja blaes are very often made from poured metal, and only hammered minimally to be able to kill an an un-armed/ un-armored person while they didn'y suspect it.

-Trumpcard

Most oftenly, ninja will get beaten when they play their trumpcard too early. They waste energy on the technique, and spend more energy on the technique to make sure it works, just because the can spare it. If the opponent were to survive that attack, they would come back with you tired and them with only slightly heavied breathing(if that).

When outnumbered, or outmatched, It's nice to be able to pull an ace from one's preverbial pocket, and escape with your life. For this circumstance, always save the Trumpcard for the very last possible moment in a fight, and only if you desperately need to use it. If you feel liek you won't be able to use the technique, remember, human cells release a large amount of chakra when threatened with death. If that threat is truely real, you will be able to pull off the technique, no problem.
