You know, sometimes I have this idea, and I want to RP it because I think it'd be fun. And then I start worrying that, if I ever wanted to write about whatever idea I had, somebody else already stole it or something... /=
Am I being paranoid or should I already have my copyrights before putting a writing idea on Gaia?

I have that feeling too. XD;; Therefore, I just keep it to myself and my friends.
You aren't paranoid, if you want to RP it, then I think it's fine if you copyright it. I think it'd be perfectly normal.

How would you do it, would you email yourself with your idea? That's what I do with my songs, I email them to myself (with the song attached, duh!), so that sounds reasonable, (if it's feasible)...

Well, actually, you're supposed to make several copies of what you've created and mail them to yourself. The copies wouldn't actually be legal documents, buuut at least they'd provide evidence of the date and so on. The several copies are to insure that, in case you need to open one letter to show the evidence, you'll still have extras.
BUT, if you want a real, hardcore copyright, it costs 45 bucks. Here's the LINK if you're curious about that.
Anyway, I think I'll finish up my story and copyright it before I bring it to Gaia. It's semi-original, I guess, so I don't really want to have it out there just yet. x:

I don't think it's too unreasonable to goto a certain degree of copyrighting your ideas. The e-mailing it too yourself a few times sounds like a good idea. Why don't you write it up as a story and then put it on a site like FanFiction and e-mail it too yourself too, then you've got two things to prove it was your idea and people can go and read the story before they roleplay and then roleplay the happening after the end of the story. So the story you wrote was a prolouge, so the characters are already sort of copyrighted, then on gaia tell people the basic idea for the part they're roleplaying and email it too yourself again so you have alot of evidence... but it would also be a lot of hassle. If that makes sense. I think it does...

Lovely idea. Don't forget when mailing things to make sure that you send it registered mail so they stamp the date on the envelope. cool
