If you know me at all, then you've probably realized that Haruno Sakura, Team 7's female member, is my favorite character. Many people hate her, I believe she is the second most hated character in the show (Sasuke being the most hated).
And I've always wondered - why? It makes me laugh when people are like: "I hate Sakura she's such a whiny b***h she thinks she's a ninja but she's so weak and stupid I hate her!"
Sakura is rude. Self-centered. She can be whiny - oh wait. No she can't. Maybe in like, the first four volumes.XD Note the change she starts making after episode 3 (chapter ?). She has already started maturing over Sasuke, realizing that 'Maybe I should start being nicer to Naruto...'. Yes, she was a young, immature girl at the beginning of the series.
Truth be told (and I actually read this in an interview!), Sakura was meant to be a disliked character. She was meant to show human weakness, and dammit, she does it well. She's the most realistic character in the series. And if you don't have any of the attributes she does, then something's wrong.
She's sweet, she's loud, she's sad, she gets hurt, she cries, she has strength, she falls in love, she has rivalries, she realizes things she never saw before. She runs and hides, she faces the day. She learns to smile, and she lets people know who she is. No, she is not weak.
Maybe she's NOT a super strong ninja in part one. The whole point of the Teams was to put kids together so that they would balance out the strengths of their teammates. Sakura was the best as genjustsu, and Naruto and Sasuke were not as good. Sasuke was a taijutsu kind of person, while Naruto was the most basic - ninjutsu. This was the way they were balanced out.
Sakura had a hard time showing who she really was in part one. That was the reason there was Inner Sakura. Inner Sakura expressed her true feelings, because she was scared and insecure about herself. Sakura was teased as a child, which did traumatize her. Each of the characters in Team 7 had something that traumitized them, and caused differences in their personality.
Sakura, happened to become very insecure about herself. She wanted to be pretty, and gain Sasuke's attention. She wanted to be acklowledged, for people to look past the large forehead and the worriedness. She wanted people to see the kickass girl she truly was.
She obtained that goal.

The fans are sluts. Sakura is merely 'attractive'. Only two boys have a crush on her, and that's quite normal, she's a pretty girl. And she has, in part one, only harbored a crush on one character, Uchiha Sasuke. The fans are the ones pairing her with every character in the show, so 'slut' and 'whore' are not good words to describe her. So stop saying that.
Let's go onto part two. A lot of people grew more fond of her, but more people came up with stupid excuses.

OH STFU! The whole story line is based off of 'history repeats itself'. Sakura is MEANT to be a Second Tsunade. Jiraiya himself said: 'She's growing to be a second Tsunade...'
Naruto also mentioned: 'Nope, she hasn't changed at all....Except she may be a bit more violent.'
Sakura has shown much greater strength in Part Two, mentally and physically. She is able to deal with illusions of a dead younger Sasuke easily, and breaks one of Itachi's illusions as well. She also has the taijutsu strength to make ground explode. She is an excelent healer, and her strength is just amazing.
Mentally, she has grown. She no longer harbors silly crushes. (Except, perhaps, one she is developing on Naruto. Yet, I cannot imagining it being 'silly', like her former one on Sasuke) She no longer walks away from friendship. She shows that she cares and loves Sasuke by trying to save him, and yet she shows the same care and love for Naruto by protecting him, and even lying to him. She's obviously grown up.
'I'm not a crybaby anymore, Ino.' She even says this in Part One, and you will recognize that the fight between her and her best friend was a tie. I doubt it was because Sakura was the main character, but more because there needed to be change. In order for Sakura and Ino's friendship to be re-built, there had to be a new connection. A tie was the way to go. They both showed equal strength, though each of them was stronger in one aspect then the other. Sakura's genjutsu skills is her pride, and without it she would never have been able to come the Haruno Sakura many love today, the one who makes ground go 'ka-boom.'
The main thing is, Sakura was made to be human. Which is why I'm proud to be, in a few aspects, a lot like her. I do think I have the same kind of emotions as she does, but all in all, Sakura is my favorite character, and she always will be.
I'm willing to debate. I might point out things I've already said, but I don't care. =3 I just need to convert some people pro Sakura.

Though, I'm kinda confused. D: I thought Sasuke was more of a ninjutsu person in Part 1?... And I thought taijutsu was the most basic. @_@ I think I need a reread or something...

yeah, I used to hate Sakura for those reasons. But I think she got waaaaaaay better, and I don't agree with the people who call her a slut at all.

It's all so true about her! At first I disliked her, but I realize that she really is a great character, and out of all of them, the one definitely have the most in common with.

Well explained, I still like Ino better. I like Sakura in shippuden, thats when I think she matured.

You are so good at making debates and rants. Wow. Really. xDD
I don't hate Sakura, but I hated her when I was first introduced to the Naruto. I was all 'wtf. Sakura, stfu or gtfo. mad ' She WAS whiny and annoying but when I saw her changes in the season 2, I saw that she isn't so immature and whiny.
Naruto fans are rabid. Gawd. They only say they hate her because she's in the way of NaruHina's 'relationship'. Same goes for SasuHina. People make Sakura into some b***h in the fics. But, of course, it's only SOME of the fans. <33 Shes lyke...my third favorite character now.
