The forest itself was quiet, barely a whisper echoing through its midst by the faint wind. Above its massive trees and stretching branches, the air howled dangerously by as it whooshed over the treetops. The heavy winds higher up made the thought of flying a near impossibility. Katlego had no intention of risking his life for folly. The light wyrm had been cruising along when the winds had started to pick up. It had been an easy decision to ground himself and carry on by hoof. Now, he picked his way carefully through the brush and foliage. He did not normally frequent forests, ad so the entire experience was quite new to him. His gait was an ambling one, as he really had no where pressing to be. Nevertheless, he pressed on, twigs and leaves snapping under his hooves.

A squirrel twittered in a nearby tree as it watched him. It's claws scrapped at the nut it held thoughtfully. The wyrm made his presence no secret, although he didn't advertise it either. Still, a rather large light wyrm was easily noticed by the forest's smaller inhabitants. It chittered to itself, before scampering down the tree to take the nut to its mate.

Katia sat under a tree her wings shut tightly against her side. All this wind was messing up her hair at least the forest blocked most of it. Kita looked around feeling the presence of another somewhere. Perhaps if she was curious enough she would go seek whom.

The light wyrm had her tail curled tightly around her as she looked skyward. The wind blew in her face and she closed her eyes pulling her head closer to her body. Damn it was cold, why did it have to be a cold wind? Well she couldn't sit here forever. Katia stood uncurling her self and standing to her full height. To most she was quite a beautiful light wyrm, and on ocasion quite vain. She began to wander toward the otehr wyrm.

"Hello" she called ahead of her.

Katlego paused upon hearing a quite feminine voice a ways behind him. The light wyrm turned his head toward its origin. There stood a quite attractive wyrm with a rather startling red fur color. Her cloven hooves were as dark as the side of the world opposite the sun, their shine like moonlight illuminating the night. Interesting. Katlego normally did not find himself contemplating another wyrm's hooves. He brought his gaze back toward her red eyes which, curiously, appeared to match her red mane and chest fur.

He backtracked toward the unknown wyrm. "Did the winds ground you as well, my lady?" he asked. "My name is Katlego. May I inquire as to your own?"

"I am known as Katia." came her reply. She noticed his staring at her and chose to keep silent about it. He was rather intrestingly patterned himself. Like what she had heard humans speak of a 'zebra'.

"Aye I belive they did Katlego."

The light wyrm gracefully walked over to underneath a tree to block the wind even more. Ah windy days could be such a problem, gifted with wings and et unable to use them like the other wyrms.

"what is some one such as yourself doing in a place like this?" she inquired, it seemed someone like him should be out more towrd the plains not sauntering in a forest.

The male wyrm moved to the opposite side of the tree, his large wings spreading to shelter Katia more from the wind. "I was simply out to stretch my wings when the winds forced my descent. The forest is quite attractive from above, in my opinion. Is there any reason you are here, Katia?" The wind ruffled Katlego mane out of place, mixing the multicolored strands together in an offhanded fashion. He shook his head lightly until it settled correctly again. His eyes were drawn momentarily to her hind leg. Indeed, his black, white, and gray, almost sliver, markings did very much resemble this fabled 'zebra' creature. "And, if it is not too rude, might I ask if there is any meaning behind that symbol you have?"

"Why thank you" Katia smiled. The lady shook head tossing her red mane "No' she said calmly "Wanderlust I suppose." came her reply. She looked to the marking on her hind leg. "If there is a meaning I do not know it."

Red eyes gazed at her own marking, Katia hadn't even thought to find out its meaning. She was now slightly intrigued as to its strange meaning. Lifting her delicate head she looked back to Katlego.

"May I inquire as to where your markings come from?"

"But of course, although I fear that I have no truly interesting story to go along with it. I was merely blessed with my appearance." There was no pompous pride in his voice, simply the accepted knowledge that he was, in his opinion, quite attractive. Perhaps his streak of vanity was a bit obtrusive, but surely it was better than a host of other faults he could have had. After all, it did have some grounding in fact, whether large or small. "I have heard that my coat might resemble a foreign creature known as a 'zee-brah', but as of yet I have no conclusive proof on the matter."

A particularly cold burst of wind managed to slip through the trees, causing Katlego to brace his spine and wings to keep it off of Katia. He did so without showing any sort of disgruntled expression, although it was quite uncomfortable. "I must ask, are you chilled? I fear the weather is only looking to get worse, and I do not wish to have us both freeze to our deaths in it. Might you have seen any welcome shelter about these parts?"
PostPosted: Thu Apr 05, 2007 6:59 am

Katia nodded "I see your colors go together beautify." she commented then thought for a moment "I believe I have heard of the creatures called zebras." she looked skyward once more it was about to get worse. "Instead of lessening the weather gets worse."

Katia shivered still. "I believe I saw a mossy cave back that way I think it's large enough to fit us both." she replied gazing back the way she came.

"Follow me" she told him making her way back into the cold wind. Katia winced for a moment then continued backward to the cave.

Katlego nodded his head. "Yes," he said. "I do believe that would be a wonderful idea." He followed after Katia, tucking his wings in tightly to avoid the wind catching their surface area as not to be slowed down by it. The wind had only picked up, carrying in an artic wind that only got colder as time passed.

He found himself once again puzzling the mystery of the unknown emblem on Katia's hind leg. The red markings were too slender and purposeful to possibly be an accident. Was it possibly genetic, or done by some sort of sorcery? The possibilities were, for the moment, enough to keep his midn from the bitter cold.

Katia looked ahead "Ah there it is!" she said turing her head back to speak, but her voice was cut off by the howling winds. Katia resumed her walk toward the mossy sheltered cave. As soon as she entered there was a significant change in the tempature as the cold wind was blocked. "That better." she muttered

"You didn't get blown away did you?" she teased tossing her head to look at the zebra colored light wyrm behind her. She shook of the feeling of the cold and examined the cave. atleast they would be able to stay here for a while.

"Looking at my marking again?" she noticed "I am sure it's genetic, but I wouldn't really know my family died when I was younger."

Katlego grunted as he pushed against the wind. If his wings had been out, the effect might have been similar to that of a human-manufactured umbrella under gale force winds. The current wind was not quite worthy of the title 'gale forced', but it was most certainly straining for some sort of recognition. "Not quite," the wyrm muttered as he hauled himself out of the wind's direct influence and into the cave. There was an immediate difference that could not be denied.

He started to nose his way about the cave, exploring it. It did not seem as though there were any drafts, and the moss felt study enough, while retaining enough give for it to be surprisingly comfortable. Certainly no other creature could be lurking inside with them, least it be a small sort of cricket or other insect. Certainly that reassured him, although it left little room for a wyrm to stretch, much less two wyrms.

When Katia caught his intrigued contemplation of her symbol again, he quickly averted his eyes. "Forgive me for intruding. You... truly have my dearest sympathies."

He quickly high-stepped to avoid trampling her tail underneath his sturdy hooves. "My pardon. How cramped it is in here." At the last moment, he realized how insensitive and thankless the remark sounded. "It is much better than standing outside under these conditions, however," he added in a perhaps saving move of tactfulness.

“Well that’s good” she grinned. Katia’s own wings were clutched tightly against her body trying to give Katlego a little more space, true enough it was cramped to say the least and Katia had hoped it would be slightly larger but this would do until the storm passed, which didn’t seem to be anytime soon.

“Curiosity isn’t something to apologize for.” She replied, “I am too curious about it.”

Katia nearly laughed “That was quite suave of you adding that last little bit to your sentence. Trying to shift her weight she bumped her head into Katlego. “I’m sorry”

Katlego shuffled his feet as he tried to keep his wings from cramping their space too much. The cave was, of course, taller than it was wide, but standing still required the wyrm to duck his neck uncomfortably. The trees outside their shelter rattled with the force of the wind.

"Why, thank you," he responded, a bit sheepish for having been caught. The humorous comment, however, had smoothed over some of the awkward embarrassment. "I rather thought so."

He maneuvered around Katia, nosing about for a suitable place to lay down as to avoid cramping his neck. As he did so, Katia's head bumped against his own. He shied it away politely. "No, that is quite all right," he assured her. "It did not hurt me as much as startle." Katlego carefully lowered himself to the moss covered floor of the cave, his side retaining gentle contact with Katia's due to the limited space offered within the cave. "I hope you do not mind our close proximity. There is little space to choose a farther distance. I do not with to make you uncomfortable."

Katia let loose a chuckle at his response "You are quite welcome."

She cursed her rather large wings for the first time. Why did they have to be pain now? Katia wondered. She flicked her fluffy ears back for a moment then looked outside, it seemed to be pouring now with that horribly wicked wind. "Well that’s good at least."

Katia wound her tail; she sat down in the rather cramped cave using her wing to shield herself from the rain that happened to enter the cave. Katia sighed looking outside.

"No its fine given the circumstances.”

Katlego moved his wing so it sheltered Katia's from the rain. "Here, please, allow me." He gently tried to push hers back down into a more comfortable position. Specks of rain fell onto the glossy black skin of his wing, driven into the cave by the wind.

"Katia," he began, turning his head slightly while still maintaining a polite distance between their muzzles. His forelegs crossed just above the hooves as his tail curled up against his side as much as it could. "What will you do when this storm ends? Do you have a bonded waiting anxiously for your return?"
