From Far Away
- Far from Destiny Island, on the edges of the universe, there is a world. It is a world whose surface is scarred and Heart is falling apart. Injured by a war started by their ancestors and ended by their parents, the children of this world know only pain, suffering, and the fact their parents are gone. Destroyed by a disease that targeted reproductively capable persons five years ago, their parents never realized the disease would end everything so quickly and brutally. They never knew it would end up killing countless teens as well as adults. The only ones left are the old women and the children. It is a world where children are raising children.
Though the disease is gone, it has left something far deadlier in its wake. The Echoes. Not quite Nobodies, they hold fragments of the Heart they once had. Their shells somewhat resemble who they were in life, though those of a similar type have similar features.
Fighting them is rough. Many children and women have died trying to protect themselves or others. The Heart of the world finally grew tired of it.
The Heart, Gaia, emerged, and began to gather the survivors into one place. She called her twin children, the Hearts of her sun (Sol) and her moon (Luna), and gave them a mission. "Find the Triad of Knight, Princess, and Guardian. The Knight and Guardian wield keys that can weaken the Echoes, and the Princess is full of the Light that shall set them free." So off went Sol and Luna, in search of the Triad. It was a year later they found them...and they certainly were not what Gaia thought they were.
The Triad
- The Knight was a young man named Sora, now aged 19, who was married to the Princess, Kairi. Kairi, also 19, was pregnant. She and Sora had dropped out of high school with the birth of their first child, now three years of age. They lived with the Guardian, Riku, who is working on getting a dojo up and running. Although things are going bad, they have a Light behind the burdens...the Light of a hero that has survived.
After some talking and convincing, the three agreed to come along, Sora and Kairi's child in tow. And when they return, only a handful of Gaia's survivors are left. Now they're racing against the clock to get everyone ready for an assault on the Echoes.
(NOTE! This takes place 4 years after Kingdom Hearts 2, and five years after the disease struck Gaia.)
