All summer students must post in this thread regardless of whether you are going to be a full student or not. Do not post in this thread if you plan on starting earlier than May 20th as you would then be considered a full-semester student and would need to find the Syllabus Approval Thread for your needs.

Summer-Only Syllabus
General Information
Welcome to Onyxavia's Artistic Crash-Course. This course will allow anyone who prefers to join a chance to delve into art during the summer break when most students are either working or sitting at home. This course will give you a general review of classical and modern art, and a range of artists, two which you will know in depth. By the end of this course, you should have completed 6 full traditional pieces, each one having a different medium. You will also have at least one full sketchbook demonstrating basic structure on several subjects.

Those wanting to go through the entire summer course will need the following materials:

Preferred Project Due Dates:
We will have six traditional projects. Preferred due dates means the dates we will try to adhere to and the dates that those going strictly for the project portion should abide by.
June 9th - Graphite - 20 Points
June 19th - Charcoal - 20 Points
Juny 29th - Prismacolor - 25 Points
July 9th - Charcoal Wash - 30 Points
July 19th - Watercolor - 30 Points
August 15th - Acrylics or Oils - Final Piece - 75 Points
Details about Size
The minimum size for most any project is 16x20". The one exception to the rule is your odd sized pieces.
-One piece must be 30x30" or larger.
-One piece must be an extremely odd size.
-One drawing piece must be on paper other than white.
Details about Subject
The following shows you what subjects you must complete and how many of each. No pieces may be done from imagination - use either a photo or real-life reference. Your final Oil or Acrylic piece can be of any subject listed below - it's your choice.
-One portrait.
-One landscape
-One still-life.
-One glass still life.
-One architectural (building/bridge/tower/etc) subject.
Paper Due Dates
One 250 word paper will be due each project on an artist, modern or classical, who uses/used the medium we are working with. There will be one final paper where you will compare two of the artists you have written about in both their work and life.

Late Work
All Students in the Summer-Only syllabus will begin with 20 points - a 100% A. Each day an assignment is late deducts one point from those twenty points. A student fails the class once those points hit 0.
Points can be gained through extra credit pieces. These must be done in mediums not listed or on unconventional supports. Each extra-credit piece will be worth 5 points.
If sketchbook is not half-full or daily sketches are missing at the final review, eight points will be deducted.

Willow Charcoal
Charcoal Sticks (Preferably Char-Koal Brand)

Tubed Watercolor
Acrylic or Oil Paints
Brushes for each of the painting mediums
At least one set of cheap brushes that you can ruin without worry.
