well, i had my belt testing last week, and finally got my next belt during this ceremony called graduation. so moving up a belt level in our dojo is a two part thing.
well they gave everyone their new belt, and then did this thing they haven't done in a long time.
they gave this talk to everyone in the dojo about how sometimes they show people their black belt before they earn it. it is supposed to give them somethign real to show the students they are on the right path. then after they show you your black belt, they hang it on this long display pole until you test and get your blackbelt.
the thing is, they don't do this to everyone. only the people who they think are totally commited and on the right path, and you could be at any level and see it. it's basicaly for the people he knows WILL earn it. heck, if they didn't think you were commited, why would they spend $xx.xx on a custom belt?
so he called me up to see mine, and it was beautiful.
it had my name embroided in gold, along with the kanji for to-shin-do ninjutsu, which is the style of ninjutsu i take.
we have 15 belts until our black belt, and after going through 10 of them, seeing i'm doing the right thing, nd that my blackbelt excsists is one of the most amazing things in the world.

so basically, i wanted to also thank everyone apart of my guild. you guys helped me learn alot about my own training by ytlaking baout your own. and the historical discussions have definatly allowed me to do research for the fun of it instead of because i have to, and that is how i learn the best.
i probably wouldn't be the martial artist i am if i hadn't created this guild and had contact with 322 people form differant martial arts.
it has truly helped my understanding of ninjutsu.

Sakuto Uchiha O_o cool! My karate class earns belt in two parts, testing and graduation, as well. it really helps avoid ebaressment domokun usually my test is better htan my graduation, and i usually am ticked off because the graduation is the one where we show off xd

So i'm guessing your at Wind rank? Not too far too go! We don't usually test at our school, (except black belt & brown belt) we just get our belts when the Sifu is sure were ready to advance.

From what I know, It encompasses Green/white stripe, Green, and Green/black stripe belts.

for our shodan we have to pass a nidan exam in front of our sensei (5th dan aikido) and if you pass you don't have it yet, then you have to take the nidantest in front of his sensei biggrin (8th dan)
that's the policy in our dojo biggrin always pass a test for a higher rank to gain a rank that's 1 lower so you can be really sure you earn it and people in other dojo's will underestimate you. I like it (:
when you go for godan and further you have to travel to japan =D
