How counter-intuituve some things are.
For example:
How many here already knew that the best antacid you can use, is actually an acid?
Ever get some heartburn, just drink a tall glass of orange juice, or grapefruit juice, and you'll do better~!
Which does mean that milk can only do so much, seeing as it is a base. Technically all it could do would be to combine and create a salt...
Recap: acids will stabalize and calm the stomach, bases tend to be neutral, but could actually make the situation worse. Though this does not exclude dairy from being able to help in some situations.
Seems strange, doesn't it?
Any other things that seem counter intuitive to all of you?

A spoon full of vinegar goes a long way wink I guess orange juice is a bit more palatable though.
Hmm, probably diarrhea medicine. Most of the time your body is ridding itself of things for a reason. If you know it is bacteria that is the culprit then you are just trapping it in your system and making things worse. Just stay home, drink lots of fluids and let it all out xd

i agree Henbane.
that goes for cold medicines too.
your body has a temperature for a reason, to kill of the virus, so you take medicine that reduces your temperature..
that's why i never treat a cold, treat it it often just ends up hanging around for longer because the meds wont let it progress.
though i DO take echinachea at the first sign of a sniffle 3nodding

I'm the opposite with heartburn, I'm afraid. Milk is the only soother I have... I tried, trust me. Orange juice or any similar thing makes me sob in pain.
