Appearance: Shard stands of an average height of about 5'5. She's very tough, as her name would suggest, and hates everything girly. Her straight coppery color hair is shorn even with her jaw and has an odd white streak near the front that gets a little wider every year. She has a history of it in her family. Her eyes are so deep a blue they look almost black, and seem so deep you could drown in them. Her nose turns up just slightly at the end and freckles dust her face. her mouth is also small, and all too often pulled into a scowl.

Personality: Shard is very cool towards others, and is very prideful. She hides everything inside, not liking to let others see what she feels for the fear of being teased. She could be breaking inside, and all you would see was a blank face and emotionless eyes. As her name suggests, she has a strong will and isn't easily broken, but if you can get inside, you can see what a beautiful, wonderful person she really is, despite the cold facade she usually shows to people.

History: Shard went with the Rebels when they all left Shining Heights. For one thing, she thought that Keli had been in the right. The other was that he father was going with them as well. Sadly, he died not too long after, leaving Shard alone with no one. She withdrew away from everyone, not wanting to get attached and hurt. And despite her wishes, she has been made into a candidate and will stand for the next Impression that occurs at the Rebel base in the mountain cliffs.

Name: J'my

Age: 15

Gender: Male

Appearance: J'my is a bit taller than average height at 5'8 1/2 and well muscled, though in a lean sort of way. His face looks a bit haunted with dark circles under his eyes. His mouth is nearly always set in a grim line and his eyebrows furrowed.
J'my's eyes once again sparkle in the light have much life to them, they now no longer turn down at the corners like a frown and are not anymore the dull hazel color that never even seems to shine. His hair is dark brown and just short enough that when he runs his fingers through it it sticks up. His skin is naturally dark, somewhere between olive and chocolate.
J'my doesn't really set much store by his appearance, he wears whatever happens to be clean in the morning, whether it looks good or not and many of the outfits he ends up wearing are old, full of holes or hilariously mismatched.

Personality: J'my is prone to angry outbursts and fits of rage. When he gets to know a person he isn't as angry, but he isn't good with meeting new people. He is easily depressed and sometimes violent.
J'my does have a soft spot for animals, and they almost seem attracted to him. He can easily calm them down, just as they seem to calm him.
Jimmy is sometimes prone to insomnia and on those days he is exhausted much of the day, leading many to think his is either stupid, mentally damaged or drunk because of the way he stumbles.
He's actually quite intelligent, but has little chance to show this off because he spends much of his free time cooped up in his quarters reading old records, riding his runner or talking with Helath. When he does show sparks of his smarts, people are sometimes amazed, but he hates to show off.
Jimmy is definately not a leader, but that doesn't mean that he'll submit to taking orders either. It depends on what the particular order is and what it reminds him of. If he doesn't feel like following a particular command he'll either run off and hide or sit down and refuse to do it without giving a reason.
Along with many other things, Jimmy had also lost his amibition. The wishes he once had to become many different things he hid from himself and those affiliated with him. Sometimes, late at night he would remember those dreams and either berate himself for being stupid or, rarely, he would smile and fall into what might be seen as a contented slumber, but now his amibition is back full-throttle and he always strives to be the best rider he can be with Helath at his side.
Jimmy rarely speaks, and when he does speak that doesn't mean that what he says is going to be in any way intelligable or interesting, unless he's talking to Helath, in which case he's always understandable. He's just as likely to confuse a great scholar as a baby who can't understand anything anybody says.

Side: Shining Heights

History: The reason Jimmy was so troubled is his history. For one thing when he was only six turns his father began to molest him. Jimmy never knew if he also did this to his brothers or sisters and being so young and confused he never tried to stop it. His father was a sick man, Jimmy knew this much. In public he would be kind and civil and then alone at home he would beat him for things he didn't even know about.
Some time after this, afraid for her youngest child's life Jimmy's mother fostered him to another family at Fiman hold where Jimmy learned how to breed runnerbeasts. His father however was enraged at his mother's 'disobediance' and began to beat her, leaving yet another scar on Jimmy's already heavy conscience. He always believed the things his father did to be his fault because he was the one his father had always picked on.
Jimmy's father eventually turned to beating on his other children as well until they all either escaped or were fostered off by their mother. Becoming even more angry at this Jimmy's father finally beat his mother to death and he was then executed by Hold authorities.
With his father gone Jimmy was now safe. Safe from his father, but not from himself. He attempted suicide several times after the age of twelve before finally giving up and consenting to live as long as his foster parents would ask no more of him and not push him to do anything important with his life. He continued to breed runnerbeasts, more for the relief animals gave him than the love of the profession.
His foster family continued to care for him, but over the next few years the love disappeared and they were just the shell of a family with nothing good to fill the insides, like a discarded orange rind they had been torn away from the things they all wanted most to protect.
He was searched into Shining Heights Weyr, and his whole life turned around. The Weyr never asked anything of Jimmy he would not give and when he was allowed to attend the hatching, after Keli had stolen half the clutch. During the hatching he didn't pay much attention to what was going on, but that didn't matter for in the end, J'my impressed Scarlet-Teal Helath, to be with him forever.

Dragon Color: Scarlet-Teal

Dragon Description: This dragon is absolutely stunning. She has lovely swirls of teal and scarlet on her hide, and the colors do go so wonderfully together, yet they clash so fantastically as well. She will grow to be about 90 feet in length, small for a Teal, but large for a Scarlet. She does not possess the flaming ability of the Scarlets and like all two-tone females, she will clutch on her maiden Flight.

Dragon Personality: If there is one thing you can say about Helath, it is that she is most definitely bipolar. Well, that's what you get when a Teal and Scarlet mix. Helath can be the sweetest, most motherly dragon one day, and downright mean and angry the next. Her constant mood swings would drive anyone batty. But she loves her rider to death. She calms him in his fits of rage, she encourages him to meet people and open up. She even helps him sleep when he cannot, talking to him soothingly in his mind until he drifts off. Also, she cannot stand alcohol! But to her, her rider comes first. If he has a problem, she takes care of it before seeing to any of her needs, and she will not have it any other way. Must be the Teal in her.

Name: Alexandretta, called Al by everyone

Age: 18

Gender: female

Appearance: Al is commonly mistaken for a guy. She is very athletic, so she has small breasts and almost no hips. The buzz cut she gave her dark brown hair recently doesn't help any either. She is 5'9" and weighs about 160lb. She has the body shape of a Bronze rider, tall and muscular. She is very strong and can run very fast. She has scars around her wrists, from where she was tied down as a young teen. She also as finger nail scars on her upper arms, many from the same time as the ones on her wrists. The others she did herself, she doesn't like to explode, so she holds her upper arms tight, hurting herself so her concentration is on the pain and not on what others are saying. She almond colored skin and gray eyes that storm over when she is angry.

Personality: Al has a strong will and will do what she wants to. And will at times tell others what to do also. She has a temper that scares even the dragons at times. She will try to keep it under control, by practicing her skills, but it does not always work. She will sometimes explode at the smallest thing, since she tries to keep it all inside. She does not like that she explodes though, and when she has walked away, she will sometimes cry for hours. Many people do not believe her when she tries to apologize so she gets mad at them and holds a grudge. She not like it when people think she can't do something she can. She does not have many friends in the Weyr, and stays away from males. It is hard to gain her trust, since she has been through a lot in her life.
She is a violent person, but also very loyal. If people can stand her many explosions and gain her trust, she will protect them to the death. She needs people but does not allow them near her, so she is slowly falling apart. She needs something to keep her together.
Al is smart and clever. She devised away to escape when she was 15 and slowly and pacently put it to action. She can see things most cannot, i.e. escape roots and ways out of nasty situations. She is very observent and would make a good spy. If she could ever trust anyone, and they her.

Side: Rebels

History: (No one knows this.) Al has not always looked like a boy. She has always been a tom-boy and not usually dressed in girlish clothes, but she used to have long hair and she loved to astound the guys she usually ran with by wearing a dress at Gathers. Then one year at a Gather, when she was 12, she was kidnapped by visiting holders. She was put to work at their runnerbeast hold. Her parents think she is dead, kidnapped and then murdered. She thinks they just didn't want her, so they didn't search for her.
Her captors repeatedly raped her and harassed her, tying her up and molesting her. She fought them, so she was repeatedly tied her up. They made her work for them, but she loved animals, so it was not much of a punishment. She did not like that she had to work for them by force, but she loved them all. They listened and didn't tell her secrets; like that she had born three children already. The animals learned to trust her, even her outrage and her temper.
When she was 17, they thought they had broken her and they did not guard her as much, she escaped. She ran to Southern Boll hold. There she trained for months with gangs. She learned to throw daggers to within half an inch of where she wanted it, which poisons do what, and how to fight hand to hand. Daggers still remain her favorite and best weapon (you don't have to get close to use them), but she is proficient at hand to hand. She uses the strength she got from working for her captors and her speed to defeat her opponent.
She was at Shining Height for two months before the murder. She sided with Keli, because no one gave her the credit due her for thinking of making a new weyr. So, she left with them. She does think that Keli should have used poison, that way she would be Weyrwomen now, but the past can't be changed, no matter how hard Al tries.
Al loves music, art and reading. She is a fairly good artist and whenever she does these things she calms down. Al has a calm spot she goes to when something is too big to explode at. When she goes there, she can't hear or see anything. Her eyes glaze over and she will walk away in the middle of a conversation. She will stay that way until she has calmed down enough to not explode. It unnerves people when she does it, but it is the only way so that she doesn?t wreak havoc.

Weapons: She carries seven daggers with her at all times and she has many others in her room. One in each boot, one attached to each wrist in gaurds that will allow them to fall into her hands with a tiny movement. She has one in the small of her back and one on each side of her abdomen. She is adept at throwing them with either hand and loves to practice.

Sexual Preference: male, but she must learn to trust them first.

Pets: None, she always makes herself scarce during firelizard hatchings for she thinks they are cute, but dragons are much better. She would love to have one of the wild cats that run through the Southern Continent, though.

Other: She is a Hears All Dragons.
