Thunder boomed as lightning split open the sky. Torrential rain washed the forests of Enid, and soaked all those unfortunate enough to be caught out in the storm. As the rain came down in heavy sheets, a young women clung to what little warmth she could find.

Her in a hollow rotten tree, she had made her shelter. Leaves were strewn about her skinny and frail body to provide some warmth. She looked like a young adult. Maybe seventeen. Her shoulder length luminous white hair layed over her dirty face. One strand was violet, almost the same color as her half closed eyes. Her skin was unaturally pale; even more so because of the cold. If someone was to see her now, she might have been mistaken for an elf. However, she lacked the trademark ears of their kind. Maybe she had elven ancestors whose traits had skipped her parents. Perhaps, but she didn't want to think about them now.

Instead, she pulled her tattered and dirty cloak tighter around her arms as she craddled and held close something within them. Her phale cream dress, cloak, and boots were all dirty and need of repair. It apeared that she was holding a black stone close to body. As if to warm it. The stone seemed to shimmer an odd variety of rainbow colors. An experianced person could tell it was an dragon egg.

Here she was. Desparatley tyring to keep warm a dragon egg as shivers shook her body. Her breath came out as misty ice. She could have started a fire, but she was far too weak. She would probably die, she thought, of ammonia. Still, she had a promise to keep. She backed farther into the tree into the curve and pulled the leaves around her. Then she curled into a ball around the egg and waited out what would be a long night.

Katia winced as the lightning split the sky-dripping wet entirely soaked. She held a small egg delicately in her mouth trying to shelter it from the wicked storm. She needed to find somewhere warm to hide the egg. The air and water wyrms must be having a great time in this weather. The light wyrms wings were wrapped tightly against her body.

The light wyrm noticed a hollowed out Katia quickly made her way over to the tree; if she could fit the egg inside... it wasn't so bad if she was outside. Katia didn't mind the weather it was just the egg, it wouldn't hatch if it got to cold. Katia couldn't bear it if it didn't survive.

Katia shoved her head into the hollow tree and blinked seeing a human or human-like thing Katia couldn't tell it was dark and she was huddled up clutching something. The light wyrm saw she was distressed.

"Are you ok?" she asked gently placing the egg down at her feet she lay her neck gently on top of it thick fur to keep it warm.

Violet eyes were at first glazed over as if in a trance. She at first didn't realize there was another presence with her. However, when the dragon spoke she snapped out of it to look at up at the creature.

She attempted to reply, but it came out in a faint whisper. She noticed that the light dragon had an egg. Another mother dragon perhaps? Smiling weakly she attempted to pass her egg over to Katia. She knew the larger female dragon would be able to keep her egg warm. Especially considering it was light wyrm. She waited for her reaction.

"Don't worry, I shall take care of your egg." Katia promised the girl Poor girl Katia then thought, in tatered clothes even unable to care for hersel. Katia reached out her claw and accepted the egg "Come here child." she bade the girl eith violet eyes. Katia wasn't a mother she had just found this single egg. Katia placed the egg with the other strange one she had under neath her thick chest fur.

Katia ignored the pounding rain. She felt sorry for the child here. The tree was sheltered some what so she relaxed her wings a bit.

"Come here" she said again "I have enough warmth for you as well."

Relief washed over the young girl's face as she saw that the dragon accepted her egg. A weak smile spread across her face as she saw the egg was safe. At first she was hesitent of the dragon's offer for warmth. However, her shivers reminded of her desperate state She pulled herself over until she was against the dragons warmth and near her egg. Her eye lids closed and she began to sleep.

Katia gently pulled her out from the tree and currled around the girl and the eggs. She opened her wing and held it over the girl who had fallen asleep. She would keep them all dry. Katia was warm and her body radiated light even in the dark and cold weather.

Katia too had her tail currled around them, the tip of her tail like a blanket of fur. Katia looked skyward watching the rain pound down. This truly was a dismal day.

She watched wondering when it would let up.

She nestled close to the dragons warmth. However, despite her body's protests. Her body felt as if on fire. Her muscles ached and she had a terrible head ache. She even began to sweat despite the cold.

However she knew it best to stay out of the cold and near the the warmth of the dragon. Plus her egg needed her. She tried to sleap but fidgeted feverishly.

A warming light radiated out from the wyrm, desprately trying to keep the fridgid human warm and alive, Katia knew the signs of sickness in humans she had stayed around them quite often although never bonded to any. What cold she do? Katia wondered when the storm stopped she would go find a healer to deal with this.

"It will be fine" she crooned to the human trying to help her relax.
