Story:
The year is 2176. It has been almost one hundred years since the first species of extra terrestrial beings responded to Earth's messages. With the help of the Alistrani as we call them, the technological advances made by mankind are more than ten-fold that of the previous century. We have come into contact with several other species of sentient life-forms, and with each new contact, we become a stronger species.
Already able to survive under most environments, we quickly set up colonies in space. But our greed has led to conflicts with many of the other species. The Crylas have abandoned us out of disgust, and some of the more violent species like the Panevi have declared open war with the Intergalactic Earth Federation (IEF). Fortunately for mankind, the Alistrani and a few other species still support us.

Setting:
Since this is a space sci-fi RP, there will be several planets rather than nations. I will try to give a few major cities for each, and be sure to check up often because I may add some every now and then.
Earth: The homeworld of Humans. It has become much more industrialized, and many of our natural resources have been depleted. Humans now rely on intergalactic trade for most of our raw materials.
-Major Cities: London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, New York, Moscow
Alistair: The homeworld of the Alistrani. The entire planet looks like a giant rain forest, but all of the trees are a mixture of organic and synthetic material.
-Major Cities: Sularus, Finnilia, Crynillius
Panev: The homeworld of the Panevi. It is completely barren on the surface, and constantly ravaged by sandstorms. It's environment is extremely similar to that of Mars in the past. All of the cities are built deep underground.
-Major Cities: Crost, Pwie, Tymas
Cryl: The Homeworld of the Crylas. There are many large mineral deposits, and the entire planet looks like one giant gemstone. Because of this, all of its native creatures have similar compositions.
-Major Cities: Silva, Peridine, Jeide

Once again, this list will probably grow, but I really need to get a new RP started.
Humans: Your good old-fashioned Earthling...
Alistrani: The most humanoid of all the other sentient beings we've come into contact with. The only substantial difference is their size. An average Alistran stands at about eleven feet in height and weighs about one thousand pounds. They have the ability to communicate with each other telepathically, at least within a certain range. They can not read the thoughts of other Alistrani, and they cannot use this telepathic communication with other races. The Alistrani make some of the fastest ships in the known universe. Their lives are about as long as a human's. They have Have an alliance with the IEF.
Panevi: Short, insect-like creatures. They have bladed elbows and knees, and are very violent by nature. They generally live to be close to three hundred years old, and grow larger with age, as most insects on Earth do. In addition to being naturally suited to kill, they also have advanced weapons technology. Hostile to the IEF.
Crylas: Like everything else from Cryl, their bodies are made of strong crystals. They greatly resemble the golems of human mythology. Since they are composed mostly of inorganic matter, they often live to be several thousands of years old. Despite their unintelligent and violent appearance, they are generally peaceful, and have highly advanced defensive technologies. They are neither allied nor hostile towards the IEF.
