"Such a little thing really, a kiss ... most people don't give it a moment's consideration. They kiss on meeting, they kiss on parting, that simple touching of flesh that is taken entirely for granted as a basic human right. I've lived on this earth half a century without knowing what it is to be kissed ... and I'll never know now."

Aww...Erik. heart I love him in all forms. (even sexy fabio Gerik!)

No matter what version, he's always a character that I feel a lot of sympathy for. There's too many things to say about him in one post.

I love Erik....he's the type of character who needs a hug. But seriously. I feel like i can relate to this character. It almost feels to me like his pain was real. like, the Opera Ghost really did exist.

I love him too. I can relate to his character in the love triangle. Really, if I were to be Erik, scenes 18 and 19 (in the 2004 movie) would replay seven times.

Ah! The angel of music and verse appreciated and loved by all. Like a fallen angel that burns with inner lust and utter despair. The charactor is just such a powerful figure in both physicality and essence that can't help but be swept away with his suffering. Does that sound a bit dramatic?

But the love you never had is etched in stone forever,
Reminding you of what might have been...

The love you never had stays with you like a shadow:
So close, but when you reach, there's no one there...

No. I think you have Erik pegged. He's everything. A child, a hurt lover, a musical genusis, and many other things, but he was made this way because of what he went through as he grew up.

Erik is such a complicated character. At moments you find yourself pitying him, then loving him, the loathing. Even though I said that I still love him, his story inspires us, to look beyond the face and into the soul.

Exactly. He takes human nature to extremes.
