Well, if you house a male and female rabbit togethe, the female's body functions much like a kangaoo's. While the babies are developing, sometimes the male can rebreed and she'll basically ahve two batches growing at once. Mind you, one group will be near birth, while the others are like... a few dozen cells big at most.

Otherwise, its just a fast gestation period. It takes I think... four to six weeks from breeding to birth and only another month and a half before they're ready to be weaned. And during the baby bunnies nursing, anothe batch can be growing inside the female.

I used to raise 'em. I only bred mine... twice a year, at most. For babies ready to sell at easter and Xmas. XD

They're not really that bad though. They've got a worse rap, but smaller rodents reproduce much more quickly. It's how they're made. Since they're at the bottom of the food chain and eaten a lot, they have to produce a lot of young in order for some of them to survive.

We had rabbits before, but mine usually ended up... *cough*
;_; they ran away from me! *sniffle*

I have a sad story to tell ya..
*sighs* when I was a kiddo.. my grandma bought me 4 duckys and 4 chicks. I was soo happy and I got a box for them to sleep in with a warm towel (the ones you dry ya self with). So well.. I had left them outside infront of the door and I headed off to school. I came back and there were cats around the box but they didnt kill any of them >_< . I chased them away and put another box around the other one.. so well.. I went to sleep.
The morning came and I went outside to check on them..
I found both the boxes flipped over and 1 ducky alive ;_;
there was blood and heads everywhere... I was soo mad and sad >_<
And well I hated cats from then on... But over the years I got over it.

That's why you get a cage with a wire top! D: ... Otherwise that's just asking for trouble. All my rabbits are/were in escape proof hutches. Same for all my reptiles. There wasnt this "running away" nonsense.
