I know that one big down fall of Linux for gamers is its lack of games, and so I have deiced to make the topic to discuss the games that we can play on Linux ether because it was made for Linux or you are using something like Wine or Cedega. An example post can be found below, along with all the main and sub categories that you can post about. You can put as many games under the categories as you want, also the ratings and reviews is what you think of the game so don't go to a website and copy what some one else says about it. This is a way of getting word out of games for Linux in attempt that other Linux users will try them to see if you like them. Categories Racing Shooters Simulation Arcade Card Chess Puzzles Logic RPG Strategy example post Racing Game Name Rating (Playability, Graphics, Fun-ness) Review Shooters Game Name Rating (Story, Playability, Graphics, Fun-ness) Review Simulation Game Name Rating (Playability, Graphics, Fun-ness) Review Arcade Game Name Rating (Playability, Graphics, Fun-ness) Review Card/Board Game Name Rating (Playability, Fun-ness) Review Puzzles/Logic Game Name Rating (Playability, Fun-ness) Review RPG Game Name Rating (Story, Playability, Graphics, Fun-ness) Review Strategy Game Name Rating (Story, Playability, Graphics, Fun-ness) Review

Diablo II and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction
Rating: 8.5/10
Review:
The Blizzard classic. What is there to say about? You, the hero, are charged with the task of saving the world from evil at the hands of, well, Diablo. He has possessed the last hero who nobly tried to contain him, and is wreaking havoc on the world. There are five original characters (Sorceress, Barbarian, Necromancer, Paladin, and Amazon), or you can get the Lord of Destruction expansion pack and play as an Assassin or Druid. Slash and hack your way through four acts (five in the expansion), from the deep jungle to hell itself.
But you guys probably knew that already, didn't you? :p
This game runs beautifully in Wine (I don't use Cedega, but I'm sure it works great in that, too). Just make sure that, before you start, winecfg is set up so that Direct3D (under the Graphics tab) is emulated. Frank, of Frank's Corner blog, suggests finding a no-CD crack in his walkthrough, but that only broke my game. If you want to bnet it out, though, I think you'll want to look into that. Also, you'll need to manually download and install (again, in Wine), the latest patch, version 1.11 or so--easily available from Blizzard's website, whether you want to do multi- or single player.
I have two issues with the game itself, and one specific to the game on Linux.
Game issue number one: SO MUCH CRAP TO CARRY! Even with the doubled storage space in LoD, and the Horadric Cube, you are hard-pressed to carry it all--set items, gems, jewels, runes...etc. Granted, I am something of a packrat. This may be less a game flaw and more my own gaming style clashing with the design.
Game issue number two: Magic users. Diablo II suffers from what I think is a common problem with RPGs, at least Western style ones. Magic users that are not in synch with the rest of the characters and world. You start off way underpowered, with a limited repertoire of spells and casting ability, barely surviving between little fireballs and beating things with sticks, and by the end are way overpowered.
Game on Linux: Battle.net wankery. It is somewhat troublesome to get this to run on bnet, so you might have to diddle around with that.
Overall, though, a solid game that runs solidly on Linux.

Shooters Action Cube Rating Story= 0/10 Playability= 8/10 Graphics=9/10 Fun=8/10
Review:
This is a very simple first person shooter, although it lacks a story its still a fun game to just to pick up and play out of shear boredom, or against friends. The controls are very basic and simple to pick up, wasd keys for movenment, space for jump and mouse to aim. The graphics in it are very great, it is better than one would think, and its preformace does not suffer do to the details in the graphics. Currently it is a very fun game, but I personally think that it would do better with the addition of some kind of story.
Strategy (Real time) StarCraft Rating Story 7/10 Playability= 7.5/10 Graphics= 5/10 Fun= 8/10
Review:
This is another game from Blizzard that works with wine, it is a great real time strategy game. This game also has a great Linux clone of it, personally I find the Linux clone a bit more playable (less lag). Its very simple to understand, you need to harvest ores and stuff to allow you to build buildings, and unites. The whole point of the game is to wipe out the other person before he defeats you. The biggest thing about this game is that it is a lot of point and clicking.
One thing that I would like to add, not about these games, is due the the people that basically sold their soul to W.O.W. there is a lot of talk from Blizzard about Diablo III and StarCraft 2 so thanks for sell your soul to help them produce more great games xd

Puzzles/Logic Gnome Mahjongg Rating The best Linux game ever, kthx. Review Well what's not to love? Its simple, yet hard, and very well made. I have played flash versions of this game and they make me mad, but this one with its over all visual feel makes me happy. I totally love all the different tile set ups they have. Solid game! [sorry guys I play consoles games mostly, or my DS XD]

The D3 rumours have me all psyched! I just hope they don't make it an MMO. That would be awful.

Annalixa The D3 rumours have me all psyched! I just hope they don't make it an MMO. That would be awful. The talk about D3 though sounds a bit weird, from what I and some of my friends can understand is they are keeping the under works of Diablo and making the rest feel like WOW. I don't know they they are just saying that to though people off or if thats what they really are doing, the only way to find out is when they make the official announcement about is.

Not sure what category this would be in but most emulators work under Linux, and rather well. And old school games are the best.

m42a Not sure what category this would be in but most emulators work under Linux, and rather well. And old school games are the best. Emulators are a program, you need to do this to all the games you use the emulators to play. Lets say you use a emulator to play Starfox 64, then instead of saying that emulators work you would say what you think of Starfox 64

Third person 2D shooter. Completely non-linear levels, wide variety of powerups, and Samus is awesome. Great for speed-running. Somewhat empty lack of plot. 200. Graphics are okay, but the game is for the SNES, so they can't be that great. 186 As you may have guessed, this is my favorite game of all time. So a 255 on the fun. Total: 214/255
