I've seen the mini series, all 3 parts in a row, during Pride a few years back and it was very good. I have yet to read the book, but I want to own the DVDs.

I absolutely love Tipping the Velvet. I read the book first and then watched the movie because that's just how I am. Anyway, even though it cut or changed things, the BBC production was nicely done overall. And hey, I even ended up getting my hair cut like Nan Astley, and it's just something I love. Everyone tells me I'm rather cute smile

You might be able to find it in certain bookstores. I couldn't find it in a borders in my area, but another girl found it in a borders in her area. You can easily get it on the internet through borders.com though. You;ll find your search to be well worth it!

I got my copy of Tipping the Velvet from amazon.com.

I've read most of Sarah Waters books and I liked all of them. Fingersmith was my favorite

The BBC also did a movie version of Fingersmith that I liked a lot more then Tipping the Velvet. If you liked Tipping, you might want to check out Fingersmith

You know, I found Fingersmith to be my least favorite from Sarah Waters...I've not read Affinity yet, but out of the three I have read, it's not really stuck to me. I loved Tipping and I loved The Night Watch. Fingersmith really couldn't compare for me. I do have the BBC version of Fingersmith, but I've not watched it yet.

She's a fabulous writer. Her latest, Nightwatch, really shows how her style has progressed. Tipping the Velvet is a lovely book. And the TV series was a great pervathon!!

I found Affinity a bit depressing.

Well, Tipping the Velvet is one of my favourite movie dealies. I haven't read the book yet, but I kind of own it, so... I should get to reading it! I've read Fingersmith (and seen the movie) and it is fantabulously great. I also really want to read Nightwatch now.
But yeah... I love Tipping the Velvet. And Keeley Hawes, to me, is awesomely sexy.

The book Tipping The Velvet was very good. But the movie killed it in my opinion. =/

Nan was all about changing and maturing in the book, but in the movie she seemed like a spoiled immature nymphomaniac who wanted sex sex sex. The actress was kinda annoying too... I think the girl who played in Fingersmith and also played the maid did an amazing job, even if it was only a minor role. =]

And and and Kitty did a great job too. She made it VERY easy to both hate and love her character. Buttttttttt the book was MUCH MUCH better.
